Miyamoto: The 'PS Vita Isn't A Very Strong Product'

This isn't true. There have only been two weeks when Wii outsold Vita, hardware-wise.

I think they were just pointing out the fact that the wii actually managed to outsell it once, and that little box has absolutely nothing to offer anymore in Japan.
Though yeah, it did seem kinda pointless to make that point. Biggest problem is that the PSP is constantly outselling it.

Edit: Actually, I think the week the wii outsold the PSV was when MP9 came it out, so it did have something.

I love how because its Miyamoto saying it makes it okay and he is right. Let someone else say it and its "LOL WAT?" or "Tool" or "LOL DIS FoOl DonOt KNow WAt He TALk AbOUt". Too many hypocrites

He isn't saying anything controversial when you read the whole interview. This just goes to show how poor games journalism can be.

I like how the bullshit blog post in the OP completely ignores the rest of the interview, where he talks about the 3DS having teething troubles for exactly the same reason.

Fucking internet, full of cunts. Stupid sensationalist click hungry cock bags.

Fuck damn shit cunts, you're right.

Media makes it difficult to be candid when they portray things however they want.

It's interesting that Miyamoto had similar critiques of the 3DS's early months. Nintendo really should have postponed the 3DS's launch, especially considering the DS's continued strong sales. Meanwhile, they were arguably dangerously slow to develop and launch the Wii U. I don't mean they should've rushed the Wii U's launch, but that it should've been a higher priority.

He is right in a different way than what people here think. They just like a big game maker's opinion and drive it higher. I've read this opinion on many consoles and portables so it's not just him saying it.

Well, Miyamoto has a some experience, so it being Miyamoto gives him some leverage. If Gunpei were still around, he'd evoke even more credibility.

What a fool. Getting too old and stubborn.

Nothing he said is wrong. But you probably didn't see everything he said, because it isn't presented properly in the OP. The Vita is going through what the 3DS already went through. The 3DS wasn't a strong product at launch, and neither has the Vita. You can argue that you think it's a strong product, but the fact is that if it were, it would be selling better. It's not. So something has to change - it needs a boost. Nintendo gave the 3DS a boost one way and now it's doing better. Sony may not be able to give the same type of boost to the Vita, but they have to do something.

Yeah, he actually did. I know nintendo people are going overtime on spin but Mr. Moto called the vita a weak product. And the additional bits about the 3ds woes are merely stating "Our product is now strong while are competition's product is weak"

Whether or not oneself agrees with him is up to opinion. But lets call a spade a spade

I see.

You got a point.

I still he think he's getting grumpier as he ages :p

Now this, this is not something I shoot for. This is more annoying. Where ShockingAlberto to quote this one?!

I don't really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product," said Miyamoto. "But I can't really say"

I would say something like "LEARN TO THREAD TITLE" but I can see the humor in taking it out of context and posting it like you did.

When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn't have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn't have Mario Kart 7, we didn't have Kid Icarus: Uprising," he said. "We were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren't able to deliver them at that time.

"We were kind of hoping that people would, nevertheless, buy into the product, find 3DS hardware promising, but looking back we have to say we realise the key software was missing when we launched the hardware."

It might be worth noting that had the 3DS had actually waited until November to launch when the software was ready, the 3DS vs Vita battle could be a different story. 3DS might have still launched for $250 (they wouldn't have known yet that they overvalued the 3d gimmick) and only had a couple months of breathing room behind the Vita.

They probably should have waited until at least June though, made sure Zelda OOT 3D and Star Fox were ready instead of relying on Pilotwings, Nintendogs, and SFIV to sell units.

Clearly you haven't been reading the threads where hundreds of GAFfers are saying pretty much the exact same thing as Miyamoto.

That doesn't mean the Vita can't be a strong product -- even he admits the hardware is solid -- but at present it just isn't (for most people).

The hardware is phenomenal. Everything about the system is fantastic in the first two months I've had it. The downside is its still in a launch period, and it still costs 250$. I'm not sure why anyone would confuse these things with anything else when it comes to the system struggling. Its pretty simple.

Well of course he's right. The market is speaking pretty clearly: The Vita is not a strong product. 'Strength' has nothing to do with hardware power and everything to do with sales power within this context. It's an inarguable fact that the Vita, as of now, is not selling well.

And you're right, GAF members have been saying this for weeks. This is nothing new. People need to understand within what context the man is speaking from.

Absolutely terrible title and OP, but sadly par for the course these days.

I think the title of this thread is a bit missleading. Many people won't bother read the interview or the OP and just commend on the title thinking Miyamoto is trolling.:/

A more appropriate title would've been:"Miyamoto:Vita is a very hi-spec machine, but it needs more games."That way it'd sound less like trolling.

First guy or gal to take a shot of Miyamoto playing a Vita at e3 wins. If not playing one, watching others play!

I agree. I mean outside Persona 4 The Golden there is absolutely nothing that appeals to me on the vita. Maybe Gravity Daze? And...no really I can't think of anything else.
Sony really wasted their time trying to convince publishers to just merely port their games on the handled. And if it isn't a port its a poor imitation. I mean what did SONY do for the Vita so far? A portable version of Uncharted? Looking at Gamerankings the two highest games for Vita are inferior ports. And nobody is going to buy a $300 system (remember you need a memory card) to play a multiplatform 2D platformer and a year old game. I assume SONY is trying to find people to get on board with the console because after the PSP, nobody wants to touch it.

I agree after reading it more. Honestly, I think it's bad to create more sensational headlines and gunning for thread hits. I hope the mods get strict on this since it leads to some bad conversation.

Less trolling equals less blog hits, though.
