The HQ stuff is just footage from the trailers. Everything else is obviously from youtube bootlegs.

Really? I don't recall the "Hulk, smash" in the trailers. Then again, I kind of didn't see anything beyond the first major trailer. And I only allowed myself to see it once.

Saw this tonight. Some early trailers made me think it was going to be full of Michael Bay-splosions but I was very happily wrong. Hulk is God-tier.

I was also surprised at how funny the movie was, I laughed more than I thought it was. Stark one-liners (his comment about the weed bag was very unexpected), The scene after the credits, Captain America feeling good about understanding one of the references, Thor saying that Loki is adopted... All excellent.

Good job Whedon.

So are they ever going to expand the backstory between hawkeye and black widow? They seemed so out of place next to these gods and superhumans. I would like a movie about their backstory but it wouldnt bring in the money like any of the other films would.

I hope so. I don't really think anyone benefits from the thread being overrun by images.
To be fair though, most of the gifs on this page are just from the trailers. But agreed, i'd rather have walls of text debating x y & z than walls of old gifs.

Yup, it was. I know because I made a few gifs if it in the old thread weeks ago.

Scarlett was so flawless in this movie. She had the cold and manipulative aspects of her character down pat. I would say she nailed Black Widow but I have no idea how the character was portrayed in the comic books.

I am really curious how it will do. It will likely come close to if not pass 500 million worldwide today. Its got many weeks left in it in the US and Rest of world

Joss Whedon rang up Andrew Stanton and told him not to worry, his movie will make enough to not only make a profit, but to wipe out any losses caused by John Carter.

They're SHIELD agents. Since Captain America is also a SHIELD agent, I expect that if they want to expand on it further, they can in the next Captain America movie.

Maybe if they were to make a SHIELD movie, that'd be possible. If not, perhaps they could have some sort of inclusion in the Captain America sequel since SHIELD's gonna be involved in that, anyway.

I'd love backstory about Clint's
family getting killed
or something along those lines.. Natasha too, her sorrow as a child or something. They're shitty past makes them perfect for each other.

[edit] beat, dammit duck.

Black Widow still outsmarted Loki (aka Trickster and God of Deception !), and had a big part in closing the portal.
Hawkeye... yeah except for shooting a few grunts, he wasn't really helpful.

Agreed. She surprised me a bit in this, the clips released of her and Banner as well as her beating the shit out of those russians, made it seem like her role was going to very predictable.

I especially loved her during the Hulk emerging on the Helicarrier.

That helmet is so ridiculous, especially the way it makes his cheeks and chin look chubby... They should have kept the original head piece, that looked more functional and less part of a Halloween costume :

Haven't seen the Cap movie yet, but you're right. Seeing that costume next to the one in Avengers... I really don't see the need for a redesign, old one was perfect and the new one looks really cheap.

I wouldn't mind that, I liked CA in the avengers more than his own movie because he is such a non gray character to me for some reason. He has his interesting aspects but other than that he just doesnt do it for me by himself.

I was more interested in finding out what happened between those two because they seemed like characters who weren't necessarily good or bad.

In other words they would bring flavor into a captain america sequel since the first one came off as bland.

Well to be fair he spent half the movie as a partially mindless drone for Loki. It just seemed like she had more opportunities to show her cunning. I don't know much about Hawkeye or his character but he seemed pretty sharp just didn't have a chance to prove it since he was Loki's lackey and we don't know if he was just following his orders or improvising.

Johansson was really good in that scene with Loki though I can admit I didn't catch on to her deception. Probably since I don't know much about her character.

Should have used the same outfit but with the Avengers gloves, boots and belt

I'm surprised no one laughed when he first jumped into the scene with Loki. His costume reveal wasn't even played off as anything. I almost laughed but kept it to myself, waiting for Loki to crack a joke but it never came. :(

Saw this earlier and can't wait to buy it on blu-ray and watch it on my TV at home. We couldn't get a babysitter and my wife wasn't able to go, so I'll be watching it again in 2 or 3 weeks.
I'm swearing off going to Columbia for a movie ever again as well. The theater in my town sucks, but I would rather go to it than drive 45 minutes to see a movie in a big city and have half the damn theater on their phones and talking through the whole thing.

One of the things I would have liked would have been
for Hulk and Thor to have interacted with Cap better. It didn't even seem like Thor knew he Cap was! I could have sworn that in the comics Thor respected Cap and Hulk knew who he was. Black Widow upon meeting him even seemed kinda cold to him. I mean, he's Captain America! One of the most respected heroes!
I also didn't care for Hawkeye being the new character in the movie (well, besides a small role in Thor) and the only background story we get is Black Widow talking about him and her getting into it a while back. I would have been interested in them talking about who the hell he is a bit more.

Anyway, I loved it. By the time it gets released on Blu, I will have bought Thor, Captain America, and Hulk and will marathon them along with my copies of Iron Man before watching this.
Better than the terrible Spiderman movies!
Yep, all three of them. And probably the new one as well. My favorite superhero will never get a good movie...

If they don't explore Widow/Hawkeye in a Shield film (or Captain America 2) then I suppose I'd rather see both of them return for the Avengers 2 rather than introducing Ant-Man/Wasp, since there needs to be a lot of exposition to explain the latter couple.

Without Ant-Man/Wasp, there is no Ultron. Without Ultron, there is no Vision. And, I need my Vision as an Avenger.

If no Vision, then perhaps Black Panther will do for a male addition. Plus, it may be good to add more diversity.

One thing the sequel needs is a new female addition that can go toe-to-toe with the Lokis through physical force. Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk would be, if Wasp isn't added. Perhaps Valkyrie, if she is introduced in Thor 2.

Nope. Nope to just about all of it.

Amazing hulk/loki/ironman/thor argument back a few pages, but there was no need for it! When I was in the comics age we had this thing called Marvel Handbooks which actually listed who was stronger than who. Unfortunately I didn't own them myself so I can't check it out for you people :)

So guys.
About The Dark Knight...

The bar has been set for the summer. I don't see anything else touching The Avengers -- on many grounds -- until TDKR. Although, I will admit The Amazing Spider-Man is looking much better than it did last fall when the first trailer was revealed.

I love how Hulk took a split second to stop smashing Loki into dust just to take a quick peek at him and then just continued the smashing.

It's looking a lot better, but at the same time, it's still looking terrible

Iron Man.

Yeah that's probably true. Tony's only limitation is that Cap is easily the better hand to hand combatant, and Tony only has good reflexes, not peak human like Cap. But in the end there isn't a ton Cap could do against the suit.

I'm still skeptical, but outside of the latest trailer revealing way too much in terms of story arc, I do have a little more confidence with the direction; even if it doesn't light the world on fire.

I really want some females in the next Avengers. Widow isn't enough.

I concur. It will be entertaining to see how Marvel handles the buildup to the next film. Will they introduce potential new Avengers in the solo flicks like they did with Fury, Hawkeye, Coulson, and Widow? If they did, I could see Black Panther or Falcon in Captain America 2, Valkyrie in Thor 2, She-Hulk in a new Hulk film, or Mockingbird in a Shield flick or Captain America 2.

Outside of the aforementioned women, there is Scarlet Witch, Spider-Woman, and Ms. Marvel that have some fame to them, but they are going to be much harder to introduce in the upcoming solo films. I guess we could include Firestar since she did have a slot in the Spider-Man cartoon and even Tigra, but they are highly doubtful. The last two female Avengers that are a draw are Storm and Invisible Woman, although both of them are off limits.

If not for an addition through the solo films, the most curious film they have in pre-production is Ant-Man. That film will have the most impact on potential new roster additions for Avengers 2. Plus, would allow for the introduction of Ultron and Vision from a canonical standpoint. I hope that film does well since it has a lot of implications on the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the heroes and villains.

I really hope they don´t explore their past. I found Hawkeye and BW to be uninteresting. Besides Hawkeye was like a sore thumb in the movie.

I did like Hawkeye playing the role as a villain for half the film. Even though he isn't physically on par with anyone besides Widow, he at least gave the enemies a small recognizable face to represent them in a few scenes.

You have nothing to contribute. Please exit stage left.

How about we not add incredibly stupid characters like Ant-man, Wasp and let's not complicate matters with She-Hulk. There's no need for a 4th super strong character (Iron Man cheats, he has a suit).

Ant/Giant man would be an amazing addition, IMO. Would love to see him on the big screen.

9 hours until go time. I'm getting a little hyped, but I'm trying to keep it in check in case I end up disappointed, which I hope I don't.

When well the BO numbers be in?

Interesting side note, The Incredible Hulk is 22 on the top rentals list in iTunes, and the only MCU movie in the top 50.

Hulk is back, big time. They better green light another one.

So it can fail? Again?

Keep Hulk in small doses in a supporting role Marvel, thank you very much.

EDIT: too much TDK/Avengers bitching in the past 10 pages. Avengers is better, deal with it.

or just make hulk vs. films. hulk vs iron man, thor, avengers...
a hulk only film woudnt work, he needs other characters to interact with.

Saw it yesterday, but i didnt have to post thoughts.
This was, easily, the best marvel movie, and certainly a contender for best sh movie out there. it was pure joy from start to finish (though the movie didnt get awesome awesome till we saw an avenger), With the climax especially setting my ass on fire. lots of clapping, laughing, cheering going on in my theater. the hulk stole the movie, just enough of him leaving everyone wanting more. Fucking joss whedon did an amazing job, and also restrained some of his usual dialog isssues. music couldve been better, but whatever. ill definitely go see it again, on saturday im hoping.
