I feel that I'm cheating, because I don't think this game was released outside of Poland, but whatever :p

A wacky point & click adventure game with abstract humor.

Not me but my friend played this game and was obsessed with it; I have never heard anyone else mention it before:

I only played maybe an hour of the game several years ago (at that time RPGs weren't my cup of tea). The only thing I remember from that game is that at the beginning you were looking after a bunch of pigs and you could stab them all to death. Dead pigs and blood everywhere! It was really creepy.

Heart of Darkness - PC/PS1 (as far as i know)
I have never met anyone who has heard of it, let alone played it. It was really fucking hard for me! I never beat it. The intro was really cool. I hope someone on GAF has played it, because then I won't feel so alone.
Had it, played it, almost beat it. The second to last level was night impossible for me back then :( I never managed to beat the Lord of Darkness (or whatever his name was). Thankfully, thanks to a custom savefile I managed to skip that level and see the ending. The game really fun, but sometimes really hard and brutal.

I could never made a decent pizza :( Every pizza I made was getting really low scores.

I totally forgot this game existed until last week, when I remembered it for no particular reason. I don't know how popular that game was, but I guess not that much.

I used to play this a lot when I was younger, it was a PC game where you had to get your clockwork toys to the other side of the screen. I seem to remember that my strategy was always awful and I just spammed the toys...
I wonder how obscure it is...

Played this twice 100% through and still love it more than Endless Ocean and its sequel. This is an underwater treasure diving game done right.

So yeah... an obscure fantastic game on an obscure genre.

This game is so good. Way better than Endless Ocean. Actually it was the only reason I was excited for EO, but EB2 is way better. A shame really.

Also, my game I dont think anyone (or many) have played is Zero Critical:

A sci-fi adventure game published by Bethesda back in 1999

Designer's Republic, the guys who sort of created the WipEout look in videogames did design work on this. Bought it in a bargain bin in the late 90s.

I remember always stopping outside this store named SegaNintendoMania seeing this game and when my grandparents bought for me for Christmas i was super happy... who knows now where the hell the cartridge is...
I have to buy it again...

I could probably say I haven't played anything that anyone else on GAF hasn't played at one time or another.

Although Game Empire I & II have a lot of very old and unique games, I'm positive somebody has gone through all the game in there.

Read the entire topic and saw so many awesome memories come back! I especially loved Dink Smallwood which actually got quite good a few hours in. Also Lord of the Realm 2 was awesome. It wasn't a civ clone though as you could fight the battles in a rts like pov. Still play both games from time to time.

Gonna have to dig deep into doujin territory here, since I can't remember the names of any old Acorn games I used to play.

Crazy, yet oddly stylish Megaman'ish game that feels great to play. Only a demo out at the moment, with the full game due later this year.

Holy shit, I remember this. I got completely stuck at one point and gave up, since there weren't any walkthroughs or anything around at the time.

Pretty certain I only played a demo of this with limited toys available, but it was fun nonetheless.

Say you've played it. I bet none of you have

This is still probably the best £10 I've ever spent on a game.

I will always be Customer number 1. No one else played this game but me.

And if someone did(God bless you) I know damn well they had too much sense to actually finish it. Unlike me.

To this games credit, it was one of the originators of QTE. RE4 and GoW are just posers.

I beat this game twice.

I have no idea why because it was god awful.

Lords of Midnight III: The Citadel. At the time, this game was a wonder and captured my imagination like no other game of that era.

None could stop my mixed dwarf and orc armies. :3

Lovvveeddd it on the snes.
.

I was waiting for a thread like this to say how awesome this game is. Ladies and Gentlemen, Tactilcal Ops:

Best multiplayer game ever!

Warzone_2100_cover.png

Loved the game. It may not have been very good, but the idea of your units being giant lego blocks was just really neat.

I've also never seen anyone ever mention this when discussing old point and clicks:

Played all of these.

LOL @ btkadams who thinks no one played the Chahi game. ;)

Here's another one I'm not sure anyone here has played:

It was easily as broken as the worst Sierra Games offenders and the jokes were lame, but still.

The only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned yet is Megafortress:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megafortress
Megafortress is a flight simulation video game developed by Artech Digital Entertainment and released by Three-Sixty Pacific Inc in 1991. The player takes command of the fictional EB-52 Megafortress created by the military and espionage novelist Dale Brown.

The game takes place in the late 1980s and early 1990s and features three distinct sets of missions: Red Flag (USAF) training exercises at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, a fictional series of missions during the First Gulf War and a special mission which reenacts the plot of the novel Flight of the Old Dog.

One of the first in depth flight sims I played.

Here's a good one, an obscure Dreamcast puzzle game developed by a handful of students and released in limited numbers - one of the real hidden gems on the DC;

Golem no Maigo/The Lost Golem

Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger

I am pretty certain that no one else played/finished this game.

My friend lost a bet against me yesterday. The penalty for him losing is to play and finish Raven Squad. I think he wants to die.

I had a narrow escape since mine was to play and finish Alone in the Dark.

Here is my contribution!

yeah! amazing art style. Always reminds me of KMFDM album covers.

And i raise the stakes with some amazing and obscure MacSoft FPS games! They went to town with these with the Marathon engine

prime_target__9.jpg

Prime Target was awesome as a more realistic shooter among the Marathons and Duke3D's

They also made Damage Incorporated:
Damage_Incorporated.jpg

and the only thing i can remember from it was that you could load ACID AMMO into a shotgun :D

Anyone play these?

I've played these but don't have overly fond memories of them...some were just demos and some I didn't really like (like that unirally shite):
People probably have played this but not many.

Lovvveeddd it on the snes.

Now actual games people havent played.. I played a bunch of obscure japanese arcade games back in the day that I cant even remember the name of :(.

failing that, one of the first games on the PS2: Ring of Red

An SRPG based on Mechs

What about these:
m7sBK.jpg

Time Soldiers for the Sega Master System
I loved this game even if it was hard as fuck for no necessary reason. I took this game and the Master system with me on a family vacation where we stayed at my aunt's house. She said there were demons in them and took them both to the garage and destroyed them with a hammer. I never did get to beat this game.

ZMSBJ.png

Crystal Caves for DOS
This quickly became the game that I sunk the most amount of time into when it first came out. I really loved this game, for some reason. Lots of fun gimmicks such as dark levels, upside down levels, etc.

Maturity, bitches.

The first game I ever owned. I remember being disappointed that it wasn't like the SNES bombermans with multiplayer, but I grew with the gameplay.

The Christmas I got my GBC (the first Nintendo console I owned since the NES; I grew up a Sega kid), I got this and Tetris DX. This wasn't half-bad, but the bosses were such shit. Really liked Jump Mode, though.
Exactly how I got the game, Christmas and with Tetris DX. Initially Bomberman was my favourite of the two, but in the long term Tetris was the better game.

People probably have played this but not many.
unirally.jpg

Lovvveeddd it on the snes.
And it will never return because Pixar sued Nintendo over the use of unicycles. Not even mentioned in Brawl.

This and Great Word Adventure. Don't judge me.
I had word adventure. Loved it as a kid.

8TGyvs.jpg

An awful awful game, like a 3d Pacman, that has actually gotten and iOS port. If anyone out there has played this we can shed a tear together.
That's the one with screws or something. Got it on a CD filled with shitty 3D Pacman clones.

I think odd freeware and shareware games I played are the most likely candidates for game sI've uniquely played. Shame I can't remember their names. One I do remember is this Bomberman clone:

OHHH THATS WHAT IT WAS CALLED! I was trying to figure out what the name of this mediocre shooter a friend and I would always make fun of. I played this to completion and the demo for the second one. The demo was bugged and my computer couldn't handle it at the time so I'd get scenes repeating lines "Good working getting here so fast...good work getting here so fast" x 1000 ad nauseam.

burai_fighter_11_box_front.jpg

I still have this. Could never clear it. not the best of shmups
Never heard anyone mention this game ever.

I actually came to the thread to post the NES version:

burai_fighter.cover.front.jpg

While it wasn't the greatest of shmups, it was the only one I had for the NES, and as a 7 year old it was amazing.

I was trying to find the name of this game for the longest time! Thank you. I only played the demo though...
