I guess I should list my info, too, even though I largely plan on playing alone.

You can't disable the extra buttons for left handers?

Do you have big hands or little hands? How long are your fingers?

I REALLY want this Diablo mouse, but want to see what kind of hand you are rocking before I pull the trigger.

I have an average sized hand, but fairly small fingers in length.
As Yoshi said, you can disable the buttons in the software by making a "Do Nothing" macro. edit: Actually, Yoshi said he needed a third-party program for his, but the Diablo III mouse comes with its own suite that lets you do it without that.

I have small hands, so it's a full grip for me. With the way that I naturally hold it, I never accidentally press the side buttons. My ring finger is normally curled over them toward the base of the mouse, with a small gap in between from the joint there. It's also comfortable to rest my ring finger against the topmost side button for easy access (the mouse is light enough to accommodate this without accidental presses). I just can't figure out a painless way to handle both buttons on that side.

You can also get full left and right clicks really low. Pressing them on either side of the CPI button beneath the scroll wheel feels the same as pressing them higher.

The wheel is nice, too, even if there is no side-to-side support. Discrete scrolling, sturdy middle click.

I may have written more about it in this post recently.

What mouse do you recommend for the same price range Yoshi?

Also, is the black widow razer keyboard a good investment?
The black widow is a really, really good keyboard. I've got a bunch of different mechanical keyboards lying around (my favorite one is the QPAD MK 80) but I can't really use any of them unfortunately.

I'm terrible with mice-recommendations though. I've rolled with the intellimouse for 10 years now and I just can't seem to adapt to any other mice.

If you claw grip, get the Logitech G9x. It's simply the best claw mouse in existence.

If you palm grip, the Logitech G400, or any of Razer's mice would be fine.

You know what is better than Teleport? MonkPunch+Teleport.

I actually prefer dashing strike, as the punch teleport is a bit jarring. I use a different rune instead and use dashing strike to 'teleport' around, but I'll totally workshop the combos on release.

Anyone have the official Diablo mouse? I really want to get one and would love some impressions.

I used a Razer Diamondback and Copperhead for years and years. Fingertip grip. Just recently moved on to the G9X with the precision shell and it's suited me fine with the same grip style.

What exactly do each of these grips look like ? I have no clue which I do lol.

I should also add what I said earlier again, is that my "table" or "desk" for my keyboard and mouse is just a pillow on my lap while I sit in a chair in front of a HDTV. :(

Not sure if that would make getting this new mouse a waste, same with keyboard.

Now I'm even more scared as you've used it almost as long as I have. Oh well, I know a friend who wants the D3 mouse as well, so if it doesn't pan out I'll sell it to him.

I like my Blackwidow but there's a few other ones to consider like the Steelseries ones or DAS. As for mice, I like my NAOS 5000 for palm grip but it's not very well supported anymore now. The G9 and G400 recommendations are pretty solid; Razer's Deathadder isn't bad, per se, but a lot of people dislike the build quality. I never had trouble with mine personally but worth mentioning.

If your palm and fingers lay flat on the mouse, you have a palm grip.

If your fingers kinda arc into the air with only the tips resting on the mouse, you have a claw grip.

Basically, resting your hand on the mouse vs hand arched over it.

I had to manually disable it for every game that I played. Eventually I found a way of completely disabling it with a third party program, but at that point I was already frustrated as fuck. The fact that I could hear the buttons "clicking" in everytime I accidentally pressed them made me rage so hard.

Man, I'm really bummed to hear you hated it so much. My Steel Series Ikari laser has the double click issue now after 4+years of abuse and I was thinking about getting the D3 mouse, which is just a reskinned Sensei.

I claw then based off this. :)

Edit: Ah thanks for the pic. I suppose I shoulda googled. I'm actually in between those. I don't claw that hard, but I also don't rest them down that flat.

Weird. I use the claw when I play Starcraft 2, and that's why I can't play for more than 5-6 hours of SC2 in a row. So I guess I'm more of a palm guy.

the D3 mouse doesn't fuck around. it's light, quick, and feels great. I use it in a palm grip and it's very comfortable. There's a DPI switcher button just below the mousewheel, very unobtrusive but easily within reach if you need it. The only complaint I have is that the side buttons are a little difficult to get to and I've accidentally pressed them a number of times. Not the thumb buttons, the side buttons on the other side.

Edit: The side buttons rest right around where your ring finger would go, thus the accidental presses. It feels awkward to use my ring finger to click.

For the record I've used:

MX518
Razer Lachesis
Sensei

Sensei and MX518 are both about on par, very happy with both. Hated the Lachesis.

I pulled the trigger on the G9X. It's by far the most I ever spent on a mouse, hopefully I don't regret it. It's shaped a lot like the wireless mouse I use in my living room and I'm somewhere between a claw and a palm grip.

I know I can definitely make use of a mouse with side buttons where the thumb is for Heart of the Swarm later next year when I go crazy to get into Masters league.

I can set up my queens and my scout overlord on each button, and then leave my other macroing up to the keyboard, but those I constantly need, yet forgot to check on them as much as I should.

Not sure what I'd do in D3 with them yet, but in the beta It was super easy to just 1-4 and click click click.

I'll have to sleep on the mouse and keyboard for now I think. It's just so much $ for a poor bastard like me, even though I'd get mileage out of them.

My other main issue is the lack of a nice desk to rest them on. I feel it's like slapping on expensive as fuck rims onto a rusted 1980 Buick since I'll have to rest them on a pillow in my lap. :/

There's a huge amount of hype behind this game and it's gotten me really interested. However, I have never played a Diablo game. Anyone got any good links/vids for someone like me completely new to the series to fill me in?

Have to do a half-palm half-claw because of the size of my hands. A full palm position would have my fingers way off the front end, heh. Maybe I could do with a bigger mouse, but I enjoy this one.

Stuff like this blows my mind.

zlatko, I personally wouldn't bind any "special" mouse button in Diablo 3. You'll need the constant acceleration and perfect mouse movement and clicking on mouse 4/5 while keeping your mouse accuracy at 100% is near impossible.

Years of Mouse 4 use in all kinds of games has me pretty damn good with this lol

Guess you're either a clawed palm or a palmed claw.

I'm asking because I'm using a G500 which is apparently for palm grips, but I don't really completely rest my fingers on it. Don't want to use a mouse not built for my grip if it causes strain injuries.

Yeah I can definitely see how practice would make it work out! For me, I've used mouse 4/5 actively in WoW since 2004, but that game barely requires quick mouse movements. If I play Quake 3 or Starcraft 2 and use mouse 4/5, it'll make me feel retarded.

Can't recommend this mouse enough. Enough buttons available to have easy access to all your active skills.
Are you not planning on using 12345 or qwert? If that's the case then yeah, that mouse definitely would be something for that person.

What a coincidence, I just check my email and got invited to the Torchlight 2 Beta, this will help coping with the wait of D3 nicely :3

I like the inferno, but I won't bind anything more than left and right click, Diablo requires mobility.

What mouse is this? I like the look of it.

G700 would be good whenever I go back to WoW. Many more keybinds there to worry about than in Diablo, and the G700 would be particularly handy.

Nope, don't plan on using the keyboard much at all for actual gameplay. For menus and stuff I will though. The price is pretty high right now, they often have deals on it; I got mine for like 70 bucks on amazon.

Using your fingertips to push the mouse around with your wrist as a pivot point = claw grip

Moving your entire arm with your elbow as the pivot point = palm grip

A job at Blizzard, Bungie, or Kojima Studios would be a dream come true for me.

Too bad I live nowhere near any of their HQ's, and getting a gig even as a QA tester is impossible lol.

My dream is to someday be the head QA guy for a company like Blizzard. Shout outs to pipe dreams...like beating D3 Inferno solo in one sitting under 3 hours on hardcore mode with no gear on.

You dont want to be a tester anywhere. Believe you me.
