Rumor: New Wii U controller (analog sticks)?

Me too, in some cases.

Some examples slide pads make more sense would be any game that operates on a flat plane, block puzzle games, top-down shooters, and generally any 2d games.

Sticks are better for games operating in "3d space", shooters, racing games, 3d sports games, etc.

But for a consoles (including Vita) that will mostly be 3d games and such, sticks are probably the way to go

I agree with you 100%

I sure hope so. Even more boring than Wii.

It is a very unmemorable looking console. Pretty bland IMO. I'll never forget how an N64 and GCN looks/looked like, but this...lol

Still dont like the console design though. So...BLAND.

Give it some lights, shape, and a nice logo

To be honest as long as the console has great games I don't give a damn what it looks like as long as it's functional. The Wii U accomplishes that. I really do hope that Nintendo can get the 3rd parties to really support the thing though. It would be so nice to have a Nintendo console with amazing 3rd party support.

The square being a vitality sensor would be cool.

I was hoping that if it did come back it would be in the handles or something so you didnt have to do anything different for the game to be able to measure it.

A few Wii U threads ago Shiggy posted pics that showed the original concept and the E3 concept. Looks like the original won.

Here are all the comparison pics he posted.

According to Shiggy the design with the analog sticks IS the newer one.

I just got it wrong. I just took a look at the OAMI database again, and based on other registrations (e.g. for the CC, Wii Remote, 3DS) I think it was always a newer iteration.

I doubt it's the vitality sensor, it looks like there are two squares there, and it would be awkward to use.

Edit: NVM, the other one is a button. What is it for?

Now THIS is an awesome console design! :p

EDIT: I still dont know how I feel about the face buttons being UNDER the right stick. Will probably take some time to get used to.

If they've got the 8-way business of the Gamecube, Nunchuk, and CC(Pro), I'm gonna be pissed. The best thing about the 3DS' Circle Pad is that it's smooth in all directions.

Yep the square line looks like a light

The vitality sensor works by shooting dangerous radiation through your thumb to read your bloodflow

seriously though, VS is probably the best bet
Ehh, someone else mentioned NFC, and I think that makes more sense.

Aaaauuuuuuhhhh, and I'd just gotten to grips with the idea of using circle pads. In particular, after coming to prefer the 3DS' Circle Pad to the decidedly terrible Vita sticks, I was pretty much content.

Dammit.

Well, I'm sure these will be better than those awful Vita sticks.

You know I've never really though about which one is my favorite. If I had to choose I'd say I like what they did with the WII and WII U console wise. Nice and Small. The less space taken up the better I think. That and they are simple designs that aren't overly ornate. N64 I'd actually say was my least favorite due to the space taken up.

Looking at the grey cable, is it safe to assume it's going to have rechargeable batteries?

What's the button in between the battery indicator and the power button for?

Yeah, I'm sure that'll be true; this is just a case of the universe wreaking psychological warfare upon me :p

wasn't this confirmed last year?

No CD drive and limited draw distance in games killed it for me.
Why do I have the feeling that I'll be missing cartridges once the next gen comes and we are forced to use Digital Downloads only and anti-rent/used?

Clearly I'm trolling and hope this shit doesn't happen

The GameCube analogue stick is the best one there ever has been (camera stick excluded, of course). Good news if legit.

[EDIT - Ah, zooming it it's actually more like the Classic Controller analogue surface. That's a shame. More ridges = better grip.]

Oh but man it had some fun games. I spent a lot of time with some people hated like South park, Monster Truck Madness, Destruction Derby 64, Battle Tanx. Then include stuff like Mario 64, Conker, Banjo, Star Fox, THQ wrestling games, etc and it was just a blast to play with.

Great news, I like the slide pad on the 3ds but it doesn't compare to a real analog stick. I still am not sold on the position of the buttons or the shape of the controller, if I remember right impressions were pretty mixed at last years E3.

The Rayman trailer shows them putting the object directly on the screen

It's a good guess though

Why would you wanna place objects directly on a screen?

I guess the Rayman trailer controller didn't even have nfc, being the one from last years E3. It was propably to just show what you could do with NFC in the rayman game.

And the guy from the speculation thread was me :p

Yay for sticks. Can you imagine how awkward it would be to play a Mario party mini game where you can't use the palm method for "those" types of games.

I'm still wondering if there's chance to make a the Vitality Sensor as a wrist strap on. Come to think of it, I have never seen something like that before.
