Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

Do it. It's long but highly interesting.

They're both pretty shady. Considering how EA subsidiary games have been the past few years, it really seems like they are just trying to find a new IP to chart-wreck. It doesn't work when you're just pumping out half-decent games, though. The whole thing with how Activision does contracts is the worst part of them. Infinity Ward and the Bungie thing are really eye opening for how controlling they are.

Just mixed a track to act as trailer music for my machinima (which will begin progress again in Halo 4), it's a remix of the main Halo theme and Covenant Dance. Quick, someone give me a name for it!

Edit: Just have to render it, and then I'll link it here too

Apparently it was confirmed that the H4 DMR has bloom? Someone told me they read it on Halo Council. Can peoples confirm/deny?

They already said it doesn't.

Oops thought you said BR. DMR looks like fixed rate with the reticule blooming for just timing purposes, like the Reach sniper.

There was speculation that the "bloom" that people witnessed was the reticule expanding and then going back into place to represent when the trigger was ready to be pulled again. Like the sniper rifle in Reach.

I hope that's placeholder now that I think about it. Thr reticle moving around and preventing accurate aiming between shots is only slightly less annoying than full on bloom.

We don't have rejection reasons and we wouldn't share them even if we did.

Expect the update to be an invasion of information though.

That's just asinine. Why would you not share rejection reasons?

The result of giving reasons that explain why superior maps aren't replacing crappy ones currently in MM?
People would adjust maps so they DO meet requirements. Oh right, what a terrible idea...

So earlier I said I was gonna get online, but then some important stuff came up and couldn't get on... Im gonna hop on in a few though, for real haha. Anyone up for some Reach?

Exhibit 7: The Destiny Contract

Probably nothing new to any Gaffers, (since the contract has had plenty of coverage elsewhere already) but I did my best to collect the rest of the scraps together. You might be interested in my thoughts on what Marcus Lehto is (and isn't) up to...

I agree about Marcus Lehto, I thought it was likely something like what you suggested for the same reasons. It will be interesting to see where things go from here.. Whatever happens, I hope the games kick ass and Bungie is successful.

If there's a "if the author would change X and Y", we'll forward that to the author. And that has happened, and it resulted in the map ending up in matchmaking.

Any outright rejection reasons (if a map even gets one) are not shared since nobody is allowed to share any direct quotes/feedback from any CC or 343 employee shared in the process, and this is to allow everyone involved to be uncensored and unrestrained in their feedback without having to deal with public emotions. The CC in charge of the map then reformats the feedback to the mechanical points of discussion and sends it to the author for changes.

We're pretty open about requirements. Split screen minimums, which gametypes a map needs to support, the playlist we're currently targeting. A map can be marked for not be included into matchmaking at any phase, from anywhere from the CC level, to the 343/Bungie liason level, to the 343/Bungie QA team level, for any reason, and all 3 have happened.

I know the opaqueness can be annoying but it does allow us to be quite flexible and fast. We have our own opaqueness to deal with where it seems maps are submitted to the ether, never mentioned again nor discussed then suddenly appear. This is only the second time around for the process, handling community submissions on a major console title in a way that actually means something is still a pretty new frontier for any developer.

All I can say is the people behind Refuge should treat the map as shipped. It's in the process, live or die. Make an original map and submit that too. Talking about it more doesn't affect anything, the submissions process doesn't factor in thread postcounts and Likes. Cheerleading a map after a CC has said it's submitted is time better spent on starting another map. Let us do the cheerleading for your maps. Give us more new content while waiting for news on your previous submission.

tl;dr Check out the most awesome bass song in Rock Band that came out this week

So, got to play a couple of games with David Ellis tonight.

Only juicy nugget I got was that he said that this would be, he believed, the biggest ever showing for a Halo game at E3.

So that's something to get excited about.

Nothing will outdo "TAKE IT". Ever

What would be comedic about that?

Probably HARPADARP LAST NAME

If she's anything like me, she's probably already heard all the reaction puns and lame jokes to her last name
