Rumours say this was found in a Square Enix server.

Leak or some kind of elaborate hoax?

I could believe that this was what Fortress morphed in to... But I think more proof might be a good idea before people go crazy.

New Final Fantasy? Day One, just take my money SE.

Anyway, curious to see what this really is and what console it will be coming to. I think a handheld is likely. Vita perhaps? (I wish).

Domain name is available, and no trademark has been registered (which SE normally does with titles prior to announcement), so probably fake.

Looks kinda like the Vagrant Story title design, right down to the sword as a 't'.

Same title initials as well: "VS".

Read the description there.

I'm leaning towards hoax, but if true I won't know what to make of it until it's actually seen or released.

Damn, I missed that! Wow, my 25 year old self would have been crazy over this shit since I was a huge FFXII fan. Hmmm, is the international version of FFXII worth getting?

Honestly, I'd kinda prefer if it were false. I'm sure Eidos Montreal could make a great Vagrant Story-style game (or at least have higher chances than most other developers Square Enix would likely go to), but given VS was meant to be its own thing only to be dragged into that Ivalice Alliance crap I think it'd be better to make a game more distanced from it, story/setting wise anyway.

Am I crazy or was there talk about S-E possibly keeping the concept alive and moving it to a different developer?

If this does turn out to be real, which I really doubt, it would explain why they busted GRIN's balls and requested the game's code to be faxed to them. They were getting out of that contract since they now had Eidos to help.

That said...no way this is real. There's not even a source as to where it was found.

What kind of purpose would an image like that serve? In terms of layout and odd positioning of text.

The FFXII / FFT / VS name-drops come a little too thick and fast for this to be real.

But still, if SE were to announce that it's going bankrupt and that only one more game would ever be produced, my vote would be for something in that universe. It doesn't even bother me that there are many inconsistencies, timeline-wise, between the several games. They're all enjoyable and they all leave behind great memories.

Yep, modern-gen ivalice game with sakimoto as composer and FFT/FFXII team working on it, would be the one thing I would wish for if I could make an SE related wish...

It's crazy/sad that people go "Oh, Final Fantasy XII!" and ignore the blatant Vagrant Story hinting there. If it's for real it's going to be playing like a hybrid of the two at best, concentrated in a single area and focusing on a single character.

Wasn't Fortress supposed to be a FFXII sequel before Grin shuttered? Could be an extension of that.

So fake.

That description alone screams fanfiction.

Also.. a live twitter feed with no tweets? Yeah, if this were real someone over in SE marketing needs to get fired.

Also, if this really was a Final Fantasy XII sequel, I would imagine the logo/title would have FFXII in the title.

It's a faaaaaaaake. </DS9>

im thinking some guy has finally made the connection between the two games and felt the need to tell somebody

How was it "found on one of Square Enix's servers"? Is it supposedly stolen by someone hacking their system? Why does it say "Rating Pending", is this supposed to be an advertisement, with that weird formatting and wording? Why does it have text as an image, and not just text? Nothing in that makes any sense.

Probably fake, but who knows? Don't know what I think about it if not though. Would need more info.

Apparently this is the first appearance of the image. Considering it's their first post and they don't include any source, I'm gonna go with fake. Well that and the description sounds way too Matsuno fan service-y and Eidos has flatly denied working on Fortress.

The image has to be fake. Nothing in that description makes sense in the context of XII's time period. Why would there be a "Fortress of Faram" that was defunct if Faram was still a widely worshiped Deity as of XII? As far as I remember it in FFXII, there was no Holy Ydoran Empire. The only Empires were the Arcadian and Rozzarian. And what would a Lucavi artifact be doing in a Faram ruin, given that the relationship between Pharism and the Lucavi doesn't happen until well after the time of FFXII?

It's way fake.
