I tried playing this game with a 360 controller and gave up and went back to mouse controls. Just couldn't make fast and precise enough paddle movements with a d-pad.

Bought this game on PC, it's pretty great. I guess it's impossible to add touch controls since it's a minis title but it would be nice to have instead of just using the dpad.

As of right now, Tomba! won't be playable on Vita. I'm guessing you're assuming they announce PS1 compatibility at E3? Hopefully they do.

I hate sounding like a massive hipster but man those retro graphics get me hot and bothered. I'm always a sucker for these block breaking type games, so why not. I'll bite.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Tomba is coming out this June?

Minis are cool and all but seem "out of date". (PSP holding back games)

I wonder if they can do Minis 2.0. Say they are PSP/Vita/PS3 compatible but scale to fit the device. PSP owners get no trophy support, if you own Vita/PS3, version would have trophies and high Res models would be used. A universal version that's fits to your device....or just make Vita/PS3 minis. No one buys games for PSP anymore, fact. Cater to actual base.

That other platform seems like a clusterfuck and its taking a long ass time.

Is there a reason this would control better with a mouse? The vita d-pad or analog seems like it would get the job done pretty well

bough this on Steam then stopped playing it after 30 mins. might be the type of game I would play on Vita but it would be nice if they added the option to quit and save at any time. i can only take so much of breakout gameplay especially when the magic/fantasy thing seems to not be much more than a coat of paint. i never came back to it on steam because iirc you have to do a bunch of levels in a row to get it to save

They'll make us pay an additional $1.99 for PSX games on the store, and we'll have to pay that $1.99 fee for PSX games we already own in order to transfar them to our Vitas. And there will be ads while they're downloading, and maybe inserted onto the load screens for games. I'm sure you could fit a whole commercial break while waiting for a battle to load in FF9.

Way more control. Try playing something like Bit. Trip. Beat with a controller for example.
I honestly couldn't see having much fun with this game not using mouse or touch controls.

Awesome, I enjoyed what I played of the XBLIG version but it felt like the sort of game I'd want to play on a handheld so I might as well pick it up for my Vita.

The game's alright, and has lovely presentation, but some levels do drag on (lolol) a bit. That said, it's a perfect fit for PSN Minis, and at £3 it's a steal if you're really into Arkanoid and its ilk.

This, pretty much. My experience trying to play it with the 360 controller is that the paddle has two speed settings - either way too slow to get to where you need it, or way too fast to be accurate enough to get bank shots where they need to go. I just got way more mileage out of the mouse.

I really wish I could have made it work out with the 360 controller though -- I kind of wanted to play it on my HTPC + TV setup for couchy nostalgia.

Wish it was a standard PSN release, but I'll make do with a mini.

This is something that has been bothering me about the game, it's not a proper XBLA release on the 360 either, it is on XBLIG. Wonder if they tried to get it on Arcade/PSN only to be rejected, or they just decided to roll with the indie stuff.

Mostly bothers me because the game is pretty cool and most people tend to ignore XBLIG/Minis.

With PSN, I'd say that a game like this makes sense as a Mini, because then they can reach owners of several different systems at once. There are restrictions with Minis (no online features, no trophies), but if the game is a small single-player game that isn't too graphically demanding, then aiming for Minis is a good idea.

That's true. I know some people who rarely touch Minis because they have some preconceived notion that they're simplistic or can't hang with the "big" downloadable games. I don't follow that philosophy, though. I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of some Minis. Some of these games have sucked away several hours of my life.

WILL GET.

Yeah, I'm hoping for this too. I absolutely adore Minis, but I think it might be time for an overhaul on some of the restrictions. Stuff like not being able to have any online functionality really hurts the high-score type games when you can't compare your scores with anyone else.

The release of Hungry Giraffe a few months back was cool though, as it was the first Mini to recognise when you're playing on a PS3 instead of PSP, giving access to higher resolution visuals. Shame it didn't really catch on.

Doesn't Where Is My Heart know when it's being played on PS3? It looks so much better than any other Mini, like it's native.

I'm a fan of this guy. Will be a great addition to my collection of Minis. My Vita will love it.

Well, PlayStation Suite seems Minis 2.0 : easier and cheaper to develop, PSV / PS Certified phones & tablets / PS3 compatible, use touchscreen and motion sensor, etc

That was because they did some tricky stuff. Sony wasn't too happy.

I remember reading about this a few months ago, and Sony asked Laughing Jackal not to disclose details about the technique that they used. I'm curious why they're keeping it so secret, or why other Minis games haven't used it since. You'd think this would be a great breakthrough for the Minis program, but it looks like Sony doesn't want developers to use this technique at all. The only thing I can think of is that there might be some weird technical limitation or bug that's difficult to work around.

Has it been confirmed that PS Suite games can be easily ported to PS3? Do the tools support PS3 game development? If so, then this could be "Minis 2.0", especially if it allows for additional features like local multiplayer with multiple controllers and online functionality.

Sony still hasn't confirmed PS Suite for the PS3, though they're still "evaluating" it. If Sony does support it, all PS Suite games and apps (assuming they were coded correctly and support non-touchscreen controls) should just automatically work on the PS3. The ones that don't would be an easy fix.

Wizorb for Playstation minis will be available on PlayStation Store in North America for $3.99, on July 24th! You’ll be able to play on your PS3, PSP, and eventually on your PS Vita

Dat Vita Support!

With vita coming "eventually" I think I'll just get the steam version on the last day of the sale

I'm confused how is it Europe can get this working on the Vita and US can't?

Edit: by working I mean day and date with the PS3 and PSP versions.
