So if I'm not mistaken we're in week 24 of Vita in Japan. This is the week in 3DS's life when the price drop was announced. I don't see Sony announcing a price drop next week, but wouldn't that be funny?

Its got 500k lifetime on lock now by the end of the gen which is just sort of mindblowing.

It's got 500k by the end of the year no problem. Can it go another 100k and get 600? No idea. I'd guess not, but this is a once in a lifetime franchise resurgance we have here.

From last week's MC thread:

OMG! Thanks for the correction! I really don't know how I did this error. O_O
But wouldn't the quantity shipped be an indication of how much they thought it would sell?
Yeah I know Nintendo often overship their casual/sport titles, but it's not a casual game, and in the end it barely sold more than half the initial shipping. The exercise could be make with the other PSV games too. I would be curious to see the result... To late to do it now, I must sleep, but I'll try to look at it tomorrow.
There was some discussion about this quite some time ago, but i cant quite remember all of it. It was said that there is a mix between how many pre-orders the stores takes/expect to sell and something to do with publishers too. But i dont remember which expectations that weigh in the most, how much the stores orders or what the publishers think.

About UMvC3 Vita, the percentage doesnt really mean that much because the initial shipment was so low to begin it. If it sells 60% or 80%, the difference is only a few thousand copies. It might have mattered more if it was a super niche game, but that isnt the case with UMvC3 Vita. Naturally everyone wants to sell as much as possible, but it doesnt make a big impact on Capcom if UMvC3 Vita sells i.e 15k or 20k in Japan.

Game of the year being released this week. I'd say it'd be a pretty safe guess that we're looking at 3-4 million sales week one, heading towards a lifetime of 8-9 million.

Oh, good, I was worried for a while that AnimeGAF wasn't going to show up in this week's thread.

Glad that fear's been put to rest!

Loli dragon and characters like this:

That probably isn't the sole reason, but I really think the character designs are a big factor.[/QUOTE]

i like those designs, but man they really don't fit fire emblem. i miss the old style.

Good luck with that. After these sales, FE is going to look like this for a loooong time.

I'm ok with it as the actual art is pretty good (the cover for the game is gorgeous), but it's definitely aiming for a certain shounen manga/anime audience and that audience provided the needed sales to boost FE's popularity.

Quoting myself from the end of the last thread because I think it's at least a little pertinent and could springboard some conversation:

Edit: Worth noting; this data is all Famitsu, the OP number is Media-Create

Why wouldn't you count Kingdom Hearts as a new IP??

I'm gonna need a MKDS vs MK7 comparison.

And 3D Land is doing great, who would've known it would be the one with the most impressive legs?

Here's Mario Kart since N64 in general:
300

MKDS is 214 and MK7 is 5347, but it's almost impossible to see it by itself since its line has been so close to MK Wii (2854).

I've done one with only the last two portable ones. The line is more visible. Also, it follow almost the same shape. :O

KartDS

PS: Wow, NeoGaf really have trouble to keep itself up these days. O_O

Wow at Dragon's Dogma. Capcom really has the Japanese audience's attention when it comes to RPGs, it's a shame they don't make more.

Hot damn at Dragon's Dogma, that's one hell of a debut for a new IP. That should sail past 500k in a few weeks, easily. Not sure it'll reach seven figures, but it might come close by the end of the year.

And yeah, Dem Legs on Fire Emblem. 500k by end of gen, hell, I expect 500k by the end of the year, if not earlier. 400k will happen next week, and clearly Nintendo's finally Figured Out DLC, as evidenced by the post on page 2. If Reggie doesn't announce Awakening at E3 next week I'm going to have an aneurysm.

Also Femmeworth you and I can share The Saddest Broknuckles. A few of the Awakening designs do drive me nuts.

That's way too optimistic. Unless the game has massive legs, it won't get close to a million in its lifetime. 500k is possible but it's a bit early to say it's a sure lock. We'll get a better idea of how the sales will hold next week though.

Nintendo, more like The Mario Company

Haha wat?

So what were first week sales for DQM: Joker 1 and 2 like?

MC numbers :

[NDS] Dragon Quest Monsters Joker (Square-Enix) - 593,994 (launched in the last week of december)
[NDS] Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 (Square Enix) - 623.643 (Launched at the end of April)

Famitsu has DQM:J launching with 633,084 and DQM:J2 with 682,014.

DQMJ reached a million in its fifth week but I think it had supplies issue, and DQMJ2 got there in its fourth week.

Very excited to see how Terry's Wonderland performs :D
