Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

Damn. Lara's going through an utter hell and a half in that trailer. The scene of her post shooting that guy is pretty disturbing looking.

Agree. Trailer didn't impress me until that point. Seems like they're going to emphasize the human part of Lara, not "Hi, I'm Nathan Drake and I've killed hundreds of people! Still lighthearted!"

Although, I do remember seeing that exact gameplay at last year's E3 and seeing people making fun of it.

So my friend (Vinnie13 - HaloGAF membership pending) and I made a Dualtage. With a lot less Halo being played these days and b.net stopping render to video, we decided it was time to put our accumulate clips together for something fun, and probably the last montage we will make until Halo 4 launch week. Please watch it in HD, many rendering hours were used in the production of this! Be prepared for a stick throwing, teabag tastic, weasel filled fun fest with not a serious game in sight.

"Promises" - A Halo Reach Dualtage.

Vin edited the super serious part (he's frankly better with Vegas than I am) and I put the bloopers/funnies clips together.

Any feedback welcome. :)

That was sik, i remember vinnie. Would be great to play with you guys again and me and swift are always up for haloz

Killcams - What will happen when we get killed by scenery, like flying traffic cones?

I'd love it if the Killcam showed the kill from the cone's perspective.

Totally OT, but have people seen this?

"It was a novelty for many of the men to have sex with an orangutan."

There's a sentence I never thought I'd see.. :\

EDIT: Link is SFW.

I actually think Halo was better before voting.

Voting sounds great in principle, but people are stupid and choose stupid modes.

No voting meant you were always getting a variety, as it stands people will choose the same maps and the same modes over and over.

The veto in Halo3 wasn't so bad.

I agree with but i also think the veto in Halo 3 was bad. In Objective/mixed playlists specifically, people vetoed good objective modes or vetoed objective modes in hopes of getting Slayer. Of course bad playlists and map/mode combinations didn't help... but i'd rather have all those pre-set, no voting whatsoever. You choose a playlist, play what you're given or go play some other lists (and slightly related, in Halo 4, BTB needs to be heavily objective weighted).

My experience with voting is largely in Firefight, where it's a godsend. That mode is defined by the maps you play on, most of which are not very good. And with eight voting rounds (in Doubles) I'm able to pick the decent maps most of the time.

Really, I think voting in MP is fine, what we need is a better game with better maps and set of playlists and game types to select from. There's not a lot to pull for in Reach in a given playlist.

Ah, yes, voting fits Firefight very well. If only the input lag didn't make Reach Firefight unplayable (unless i pull host which is rare).

Voting (in games) has been an issue in games as long as it has existed, IMO. In Battlefield 42, when voting was enabled, people skipped some good maps to play their favorites again and again.
EDIT voting for cooperative games/modes is okay. Except Reach campaign, i hate having to play the same maps always...

I hope 343 understands that not every gametype works well on every map. Every time I see Stockpile on an asymmetrical map or Oddball on a room-based map I shake my head. Also, quality over quantity. Reach has so many different maps and gametypes and 90% of them (and the combinations) are shit. Cut that down and just go with what works well.

Yeah. This has been said over and over, but they need to pair game types on the maps designed for them. This really seemed to start with Halo 3 where we got symmetric game types (Neutral Assault, 2-Flag CTF) on asymmetric maps like Ghost Town.

I really want more ideal pairings; 3-Plots on Turf, 1-flag on Relic and Terminal, etc.

This is good.

Damn, the new avatar isn't transparent.

Can I make it transparent in paint?

I had a crack at making you a new avvy:

Something I think would work well is a voting system where you vote on the map and then vote on the gametype.

That would only work if the gametypes you can choose from are based on what map was chosen. I don't want people to vote for a map they like and then a gametype they also like but doesn't work on that map at all.

That's where map quality will come into play. Say you picked Beaver Creek, only Neutral Bomb, 2 flag, and 2-bomb appears. But then you have things like jamming Oddball or KotH on maps that don't always work. Oddball was fine on Lockout, but didn't work well in Ivory Tower.

Gametypes have been shit for such a long while. MLG helped these in 3 and Reach, but the launch ones lacked. Defending the bomb in Assault after it got armed is terrible, and if Halo 4 has Assault, needs to go back to the arm and plant detonation, and include sticky arming. It is otherwise not a very good gametype. Other things we had: putting teams in Headhunter, Stockpile on asymmetric maps, VIP was everywhere, Land Grab and Hot Potato used more than regular gametypes, etc.

The problem with voting for map and then a gametype is that you're needlessly complicating and extending the voting procedure. So what happens ina veto?

Map comes up. Veto. Map comes up. Load map in and wait for everyone to load it. Issue gametypes. Gametypes are vetoed. Present more. Players vote.

At this point you've spent a minute or more just in the voting process. People would have too much time to think about quitting out if they don't really like the map. You have to keep the sense of flow and immediacy.

This is one reason i don't like voting of any form at all, it's half minute of extra time spent doing nothing really. If map/mode combos are good, voting is unnecessary. If they're not good, voting is unnecessary for we end up with a bad combo anyway.

If it's one thing I learned from that 'tage... it's that one must melee after a sticky or t-bag the ground.

Fun watch

Sure, as long as they can resolve the problems Megalo would cause for such a thing (if 4 has Megalo)

I don't even know what that is. Sounds like nerd stuff. Ban Megalo in Halo 4 and make a custom game browser.

Custom Game Browser + Real Map Editor (not colored legos) = Welcome to Wapeville. 45 million+ seller guaranteed.
