Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if the marketing was, in the end, a bit ambiguous. Could still be the Master Builder with the Didact as a rogue element.

Even better

^^^^ I hope those planes on top of the Infinity will be flyable. They look pretty awesome!

So I've been thinking about Frankie's comment that the mission we saw is about a third into the campaign. If we go by the previous Halo games, that would mean the mission we saw was the 3th one.

So we have the first mission, where the covenant boards the FUD and the chief has to repel them. The second mission where the FUD crash lands into requim and than something happens that leads up to the start of the E3 demo mission.

I think that in the second mission, the chief will discover the ball thing (I think it was a crypt, wasn't it?) somewhere and activate it. You'll also probably be fighting covenant or maybe sentinels since the E3 mission is the first introduction of the new enemy.

Just had a random thought. Do you reckon they could have some armour/skins unlock through Spartan Ops? Like, after you complete a full episode or something? Could be pretty cool. Maybe for beating it on certain difficulties? (assuming it has difficulties :p)

I don't know if I missed this discussion overnight, but is it possible that the Promethean Knights are not the main and/or only new enemy we'll face?

Based on the variety of covenant, you'd have to think that we'll see something analogous to hunters (sphinxes perhaps?), jackals, etc.

I'm hoping we get a few more surprises as we get into campaign.

In the latest Halo preview from that Magazine I do not know which one, the author wrote that there will be 7 new types of enemies.

I imagine that's a 'first pickup only' animation, i.e. Will only ever happen in that part of the Campaign.

It could be a balance mechanism though, it's difficult to tell.

Am I right in thinking that the gun changed configuration? That could lead to some interesting mechanics, i wouldnt like it in multiplayer, but could be interesting in single player

Going back to work on my map.
Next up, weapons. And then i need some guide explaining Spawn Zones and Objective tags so that i can add those. And then the map is ready to be tested.

But back to weapons.
First, i'm not adding Frags to the map, only Plasmas. But how many? I add them in pairs, so 4 at least. Is that too few? I think 8 is probably the maximum i could add, don't want too much 'nade spam.
And then power weapons. 2xSnipers, 2xGrenade Launchers (3 shots per launcher), 1 Sword. How does that sound? Alternatively, 2xShotguns, 1xGrenade Launcher (7-8 shots), 2xSnipers? Of course the Grenade Launcher might not really work on my map, it doesn't have many doorways etc. where you could bounce the 'nade well. In that case, i'll probably replace it with a Concussion Rifle. I don't think i'm going to use the Focus Rifle as the map has enough cover to make it a rather weak weapon, other than against Jet Packers.
What about replacing the Snipers with one Spartan Laser in the middle?
And other weapons. Plasma Pistols, Needlers, Repeaters, Needle Rifles and DMRs. Or is that too many weapons, considering there are 2 of each most likely?

It's impossible to judge this without any context.
Shoot me a FR so I can check it out. GT is Overdoz1z.

It's nice to see the overwhelmingly positive reactions to Halo 4, on GAF (with its infamous obligatory halo-hate) and on other sites. Good job 343 :)
I'm still sad about the direction they are taking the MP in though, but my opinion can always be changed when more of it is officially presented.

They've said previously that in-game currency for unlocking things can be earned across multiple game modes, so you could potentially hold off on multiplayer until you have everything you want for customization.

Should've guess the answer. But will do, later on today.
Oh and it seems that i can play Reach with you guys today.

EDIT don't most maps in Reach have too many PWs and/or inappropiate selection of weapons?
Also, if i take a screenshot of my map, can i access my fileshare on halo.xbox.com? I haven't touched my FS (on Xbox or PC) since... well, dunno how long it has been.

Ah okay, sweet!

Can't wait to see what today brings us then :)

Yes. Hurts me too brother.

And Frankie responded by saying "That doesn't include Forge maps/environment." Not sure what "environment" is...

If we have full terrain editing, it would make some sort of sense to have environment palletes, like jungle, desert, ec.

lol I know what the word environment means.. I just didn't know how he was implying it was implemented with Forge.

i.e. will each Forge map have several environments? Are environments separate from the map selections? Etc...

What I think it means is that since the maps are all just virtual places inside the Infinity, that there will be multiple maps within each environment. Like that snow map for example, we've seen a BTB looking map in that area, but there could potentially be a small arena map in that same environment. This could give them ways to add more maps without having to create completely new locations each time but it would be better than the the super repetitive style in Forge World.

I'm still sad about the MP though, but my opinion can always be changed.

It's because Campaign and SpOps looks AMAZING.

MP still looks iffy to me. When we first heard of ordnance drops everyone freaked out. Frankie/Ellis assured us that they weren't random, that they were predictable. He made it out to sound like the game would give you a warning when something was about to drop so you had ample time to secure the area from wherever you were on the map.

And now some footage has been leaked/released.... and its essentially Killstreaks. Unless I'm interpeting the footage incorrectly, it seems like you get kills, build your ordnance meter, then you get to call it in. That's how it looked in the leak.

However, in the B-roll footage with the warthog, we see the player get ASSISTS for the warthog, which net him 10 points each. And the ordance bar is filled up.

Now... the question is, is this team ordnance? Or individual ordnance. And who gets to call it in?

Hopefully MP gets a blowout today because I'm sick of worrying based on spotty information.

Can't unsee Shishka!

What am I supposed to be seeing here?

P.S. Halo 4 better have a Barn VHS easter egg.

lybertyboy

Thinks the Evil Empire is just misunderstood.
Mastodon?
awesome band, btw

How about the Mammoth? ;)

EDIT: Regarding ordnance drops. There are two types of ordnance drops on the games: personal ordnance and map-specific drops that are more akin to traditional weapon/equipment spawning.

Personal ordnance is earned by performing any action that nets points for you and your team. This can be kills, (more for doubles, triples, etc.) assists, assassinations, flag scores or any of the dozens of new medals we're adding to the experience.

Yeah this was more or less what I was thinking. So there would be a few base map canvases (pre-built w/ grids/3D models), each with a selection of environments:

  1. Flat, small
  2. Flat, medium
  3. Flat, large
  4. Asym, incline, small
  5. Asym, incline, med
  6. Asym, incline large
  7. Sym, trench, small
  8. Etc...

Then after you choose your base canvas, you then select the environment you want:

  • Covenant
  • Forerunner
  • Human
  • UNSC Facility
  • Jungle
  • Desert
  • Snow/Mountain
  • Etc...

Then you could hopefully have a bit of terrain editing to change up the base canvases to suit you better. Wishful thinking, I know.

Obvious speculation, but maybe you choose an environment first and from there are given forge objects that are specific to it (colors, types, etc.).

So obvious that I overlooked it.

So close!! :)

I never thought of that, maybe it is a team ordinance. If it is, I still don't want it but it would be so much better than individual ordinances.

Too similar, methinks. Have we seen any carbine game-play/screens yet?
Solution: Make the carbine a brighter purple.

They're similar but they both look so good. Don't change them.
My preferred loudouts will probably include both them or one of them with a Plasma Pistol.
Love Carbine and the Storm Rifle looked so good on the broll footage.
