They'd already said in advance that they wouldn't, I thought. Besides, showing off the next generation would totally overshadow anything else they did.

Then again, it'd probably have turned a mediocre press conference into a worthwhile one...

I'm interested to see how much time is given to their new Wii Sports game. I'm guessing at least 10 minutes. It better be good. Baseball with the screen as a method for catching the ball isn't going to do it for me.

Yeah, but they've lied about things like that before. It would have saved that dreadful press conference.

Everyone's expecting Mario, Pikmin and the Retro game, but one genre I really hope they have a game for is an arcade racer. This gen has been a huge disappointment for them. I'd be really pleased if they showed something like Excite Trucks or F-Zero.

to be honest; after 3DS disaster, they have been practically revolutionized.

So I think, maybe? Maybe they only needed a kick in the ball to realize their situation compared to the rest of technology

To be honest, people are in this to either, waste time until their final, or print out a paper for their final. So no one is really asking for help, nor is the printer breaking (it's been doing that for 3 weeks straight, but think they have it this time. I just won't be able to hear the conference.

I'm just ready for this shit to get on with it, man. We've been speculating about this shit for an ENTIRE YEAR. This is it. This is it. No more wondering about what this button does, or what game we're gonna get at launch, or do you think that third party is gonna help, or how good will the game look, or blah blah blah. We're finally gonna see this shit for ourselves.

I'm nervous that I'm going to be let down. So I'm dialing my expectations back. I feel as if all of GAF has placed their hopes and dreams into Nintendo's conference out of how abysmal Sony and Microsoft's were. Where was it confirmed that Nintendo was going to be showing off 3DS games on June 6th?

I've dialed my expectations back to as follows:

Retro's new game
New Mario game
Wii Play/Sports type thing

Everything else is icing.

I'd go for any of those two racers. Monster Games couldn't have spent much time making Pilot Wings Resort so they could have something ready for Wii U even if its not until early 2013.However, Excitetruck came out in 2006 followed by Excitebots and Excite Bike: World Ralley 3 years later and then Pilot Wings 2 years after that.

I don't expect much focus to be on that kind of game. Wii Sports mainly existed as a way to demo the controller while the new controller doesn't really lend itself to that kind of gameplay. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a pack-in Wii Play sort of title with those kinds of mini games/demos, though.

Well, I'm back!

And you know what? I realised something.
I have no idea what Nintendo have got to show us. I have no idea what their games will look like. I have no idea how they've used the controller.

And thus, I am not hyped. Or, at least, I'm not at critical hype levels. Sure, I'm excited, but because I'm finding it hard to imagine HD Nintendo titles in my tiny little head, I can't possibly say I'm as prepared, mentally, as past E3 shows.

But this does mean one thing: when the announcements do come, the footage rolls and the screens release,I will go absolutely batshit insane with glee.

Think about giving an 8 year old child LSD. That's me right now.

NSMB
third Party titles (Zombi U, Rayman, AC) we know of
some other major third party releases, not all: simple ports with gimmik touch screen use
Pikmin 3
some Casual games
no HD Zelda in any form


hope to see:
third party exclusives, enhanced ports (graphically)
Retros / Monoliths new game
Smash Teaser
Other Nintendo Franchises (F-Zero, Star Fox, 3D Mario)
full blown online service for free (cross game chat and so on)

Iwata's said that there's WiiU's WiiSports equivalent in the works. That doesn't mean it will be anything like WiiSports or Play though, it could be anything really. And I expect it to get some real demonstration.

Most games are going to look like that, regardless of system power. Only the top, top AAA games would look noticeably better, aside from maybe 1080p/60fps. I mean, just look at PS3 - do you think games like Beyond and Uncharted 3 make use of some secret super-optimized tech? Nope, they just have higher budgets. Making the system more powerful only allows more detail / effects, which costs more money to develop (just look at the cost of making a Pixar movie). Middleware like UE4 are designed to make higher-end effects and detail cheaper to make, but of course UE4 isn't ready for real use yet.

Yea same. Glad to have been apart of the Wii U speculation threads!

Even if I didn't post alot, I still read it alot and have kept a tab of it on my iPad for the past 3 months. Never haveing to close it. lolz.

69 minutes until it begins. See you all after we know everything. Hope we atleast get confirmed 1st party launch titles.

And I hope to continue Wii U discussion after the conference. Wii U FTW. Nintendo, after all of this wait, you better not screw this up ;)
