But why aren't the EA Sports game confirmed for WiiU? Was that slot given a year ago, when the games did not start development and was instantly given away or did this happen short before E3? The games must be there then, or did EA cancel every WiiU sports game because they showed smart glass? This doesn't make any sense

Well seem confirmed.. just don't want to talk about them?

On WiiU planning a number of sports games not announced yet,

That out-of-context screen continues to haunt this game (out of context, since it looks fine in motion, and the character's size relative to the rest of the game makes it the equivalent of looking at a fire hydrant in another game). Thankfully, the trailer introduces an incredible-looking robot -- high poly, no jaggies -- right after that frame.

Since we're on a new page (posts set to 100 per page), here's the must-watch Gamespot walkthrough for anyone just tuning in.

Yeah, that sequence looks fine in motion. I actually think there's some charm to it too.

Yeah I saw it...I'm not saying it's a bad game. Not at all...I'm just saying it seems niche and not a Bayonetta or a Vanquish-esque calibre game.
Everything Platinum ever did was niche. This is probably far less niche than Bayonetta or Vanquish.

It's unfortunate, but everything Nintendo shows is going to be highly scrutinized for its graphics. I totally get why those characters are low poly, but many others will consider it an indictment on the Wii's graphics capabilities. It was pretty apparent as to why it wasn't shown at the conference.

I have no idea as to EA's strategy...

What I know is what I've been told (That little tidbit)...I don't know the in's and out's...

I'm no one...but my friend works in gaming journalism and he was told by his friend in EA they were given a slot at the Nintendo conference but turned it down for MS...

But that doesnt mean they were changed for Warner Bros. Warner Bros was asked by Nintendo since last E3 to be at this years conference.
That much I know, and directly by me, no second hand news here.

Btw EA were suppose to fill up the Warner Bros spot at the conference but they pulled out last minute to go with MS to showcase SmartGlass instead.

That's why we had the Batman showing...and it seemed out of place. There was a plan to show off EA sports gamepad titles.

No offense to you or anyone who has inside information but I am just sick and tired of these supposed killer titles or presentation that were supposed to happen but get pulled back at the last minute.

This is a gaming convention and its almost reached the point of some super secret cult with mysteries and surprises that just aren't there. At this point I refuse to believe these rumors or inside reports of such and such game being pulled last minute. It makes no sense, and it seems more like an excuse.

According to the rumors Nintendo pulled both a Retro title trailer and EAD trailer. Why?
Then apparently they couldn't convince EA to show up to their conference even though last year they were on stage together talking about committed they are to Nintendo. No confirmation of their sports line up as well. Why?

It doesn't make any business sense for Nintendo or EA to pull moves like that. Nintnedo and Microsoft's conferences were on separate days so its not like EA couldn't have attended both.

I think that was just Reggie being charming in his interview with Geoff.

"I saved it just for you." *wink wink*

The "rumor" I heard is that they didn't have enough time (they already went past their 60 min allotted time) and wanted to focus more on games like Batman and NintendoLand.

Ubisoft certainly didnt have a problem showing up to everyone else's conference

No, it was part of the deal. Keighley was hyping it up beforehand.

I think that was just Geoff being a good salesman.

"We have a Gametrailers exclusive for you." *big grin*

Edit: Do you mean before the conference? Because I only heard him hyping it after the conference—just before the presentation.

But Nintendo isn't Sega so I'm not actually worried about P-100.
Yeah, it'd at least take years from showing to release before they pull a game, not MONTHS with a full localization by Japanese release. And no presence with retailers anyway, closest was that "Monado: Beginning of the World" thing on Amazon.

They are a business...they are not there to entertain or drops bombs as GAF would like to put it.

They were together last year but maybe in 2012 they felt MS and their set-top box media hub plan is more in-line with their own goals and strategy than what ever Nintendo and they had proposed in 2011...EA is hitting the free to play and social networking thing pretty hard nowadays.

The screenshot doesn't do any justice. The video actually look like it had decent visual (compared to screenshots)

and gameplay looks really fun.

After reading what you've written F#A#Oo I'm pretty confident that MS worked out a deal with EA under the table. I wonder how much it cost them.

Geoff didn't know about the Platinum announcement prior to the text he received, on air, right after Nintendo's conference. So in other words, he didn't know about the Platinum announcement beforehand. Maybe the TV execs did.

After Ninty's disappointing conference, there was a little spark of hope when i heard Platinum was a developer for Wii-U. Then I saw what it was and asked why?

Today after the crappy tuesday negative mood I was in had lifted, I was able to see these games with a fresh set of eyes and a slightly more favorable state of mind

this video has made me do a complete 180 on this game.

This actually looks fun and has loads of potential!

If this is the first stage (and if Kamiya's previous games are anything to go by) who knows how crazy things will get by the end.

Sorry PG that I let Ninty's bad conference ruin my judgement. Havent been let down by a Kamiya game yet so bring it on!

Kamiya we trust!

I just hope Nintendo gives this some push. I'm skeptical.

Ok, now I'm suspecting for character models they simply focused more on the Super Heroes than the generic civilians, given that looks more like Viewtiful Joe without cel shading and with more animation.

Yeah I was going to say the hero model is magnitudes more detailed than the generic citizen one

I could see them doing some sort of cool commercial for it. Guy/Girl sitting inside playing the game by a window, while all kinds of crazy explosions and sirens are going off, and then you just see one of the giant alien mecha arms go past the window, followed by a unite fist.

Cue montage of gameplay footage with the usual commercial guy's voice talking about the gameplay, close with a catchy tag line for the game and the system, then WiiU logo.

Bam.

i still do not understand the hate over this.

all of kamiya's games have been completely different and unique.

it has all of his trademarks

i think people are honestly scared of gameplay anymore.

It could be that or that the game is still very much a WIP. Sadly people keep using that one bad image to knock the game when it reality many other aspects of the visuals are quite good and work well in conjunction with a fairly unique artstyle.

It seems to look kind of low poly beyond that, but I don't really care if being that way guarantees 60 FPS, maybe 1080p, and profitability for Platinum.

I doubt it...and that's getting into conspiracy theory area's...lol plus it would seem pretty pointless as they gain nothing.

It's not like EA is not supporting the Wii U...it will have Mass Effect 3, NBA Live 13 and Fifa 13. It's just Madden 13/NHL 13 at this point that people are waiting on/ need confirming...

Oh definitely, but its clearly not as ugly as that one shot would imply. It seems like they are doing a lot of extra modeling in place of textures for certain aspects. The lighting looks nice as well for example.

Didn't Vanquish sell over 800k?

I believe that's the shipped numbers, so only a very small fraction of that sold at full price. The game crashed to extremely low prices pretty quickly, and even then never sold close to that amount afaik.

I hope the final name is something simple and awesome.

With Nintendo publishing it would be awesome if they pushed this as if it was their own new IP (which I guess technically it is.) I can already see the potential for representation in Smash Bros. and Sakurai did pay a visit to Platinum about a month ago.

For me this is one of the most awesome game displayed at E3!
Fuck men, what you want? Is fresh, look so good and fun, better than Pikmin3.

I've decided that this is my game of the show. Not because it's a 'next gen' game. Not because it has sweet toku references. Because it looks different. It's the one console game from this that I've seen that doesn't look like anything else. Like, sure, it resembles Viewtiful in art style and you might think it looks like Pikmin from a far, but after watching that Gamespot video so many times, it just looks fun to play. Most importantly, it doesn't look 'cinematic'

Vanquish was niche as fuck. Madworld outsold it.

thought only ME3 is coming this year at launch.

But is it AAA? Huh? Huh?

Does anyone else get a pinch of LittleKing's Story vibe from it? Like, LKS met VJ, and they went together to Pikmin for some threesome?
