Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

I'm on Reach now and I'm just comparing that Halo 4 UI screen of the helmet armoury to that of Reach. And Reach looks a thousand times better. You at least get a preview of the helmet before you select it; and the majority of the screen isn't taken up by some redundant blue.

Reach gives you so much more information on a single screen than Halo 4, which just gives me the impression that Halo 4's UI is completely dumbed down. It's not intelligent. And I'll repeat, that font is ugly.

You sound like a broken record. Jesus, we get it - you don't like it.

Personally I find it to be very elegant and clean without clutter:

From the videos, nades seem weaker, at least from a splash damage angle.

If there are plenty on map, whatever. I'd need to play it. But limiting something is a lame way of balancing something powerful.

As for the UI, yeah, what I saw didn't look good. But I'm going to assume there's multiple levels to the UI for custom games. Players here are simply looking at the players. There could be another page that has game and map information.

Mine is 100, I just play with a full party of friends all the time, it's really not hard to get it there I think you ust have to play a lot.

Why is there a sudden rush to be unique? Sure, Reach looks like past Halo UI, but it's better than looking uniquely awful. Halo 4 UI looks like it was built for people with bad eyesight; a simple choice such as choosing your primary weapon takes up the entire screen, and most of that is just blue space. The font's plain bad. And aesthetically it's a mess.

I've not got a problem with hitting start and choosing from a list, I'm perfectly capable of doing that.
They can change the font. I'm sure the UI as a whole is heavily visual to let people know these options exist in the first place. Chances are people didn't dig into the menus as much as they could have in the past. Aesthetically, I really like a lot of it. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see on this one.

Mine's 92 I think. No idea how it's calculated though.

Speaking of Reach, anyone on? Haven't played in a while and fancy a few games.

They killed it, man. Gonna have pour one out for the greatest helmet in Halo history. RIP.
Sad but true, instead of going from a natural evolution (halo 3 ->halo reach) they decided to just add some crap on it and go for a retarded space bucket look. Change for the sake of change.

Reach's UI sucks ass and separates game modes from each other it's also about as unique as watching paint dry. It's also a giant bucket of lists hidden within each other. But to be fair the greatest thing about it is Active Roster.

Halo 4 seems to be making everything visual and in turn ensuring things don't get buried under menus.
What, no.

This is an interesting quote:

"Frank O'Connor likened the new Spartan Ops mode in Halo 4 to ABC's island-obsessed TV series LOST: episodic content that would create a "watercooler effect,"..."
NOT CORTANA'S BOAT

I'd just like to point out that the Hazop helmet is NOT a product of Misriah Armory.

I think Reach's UI is mostly good, but some things really such, the lists within lists as Plywood said. The service record and custom game settings are both pretty bad.

Halo 4 UI looks pretty good from what I've seen in bad offscreen images. Heh.

I've had bad customer service with Misriah. This Dinkin guy didn't really know what he was talking about.

I think that's a bit optimistic. From what I've seen it's basically "RECOVER THE FORERUNNER ARTIFACT GUYZ". I doubt that will produce any "water cooler" moments.

The UI looks clean, but compared to Reach less effective at actually *getting* to stuff. Reach's was stellar in quickly getting you to everything you wanted (with the exception of service records/commendations).

I imagine it won't be horrible, but hopefully like the medals it's still being tweaked.

Yeah but we've seen jack. Remember that Ops takes place six months after Halo 4. I don't think they're going to show us much that could potentially be spoilers for the nature of the 4 campaign.

The Hazop helmet reminds me of the F-35 fighter pilot helmet, except way uglier.

Just wait until we see the H4lo Smoke Monster, then you will eat your words. ;-)

Unicorn fists of fury.
Tentacles of Fury would be pretty awesome, just putting it out there for your incredibly awesome avatar-making people.

True story, my dog's name is Cortana, but we just call her "Tana" pronounced "Tawna".

Now, we were out camping and some 18 year olds, 3 guys and 2 girls were camping next to us. Our dog ran over to them, so they asked us what her name is.

My wife says her name is Tana, and one of the other campers says her name in unusual. My wife says "You know Cortana off the game Halo?" thinking she can relate to these youngsters.

They all stare blankly. "What's Halo?" they ask.

...

I wasn't there, so my wife tells me the story later on that night, and now thinks I'm crazy for being excited about this video game nobody cares about.
