Has Steam always had an option to join a friends game? Just looked at my friend list and I'm sure "Join game" wasn't there before?

Fake edit: And now it's gone again...

... It seems to only show it on the Community friends list.

It's been there for ages on the popup friends list, or on messenger windows, if friends are in games with Steamworks matchmaking like TF2. You can also typically view who's playing in the server so you can avoid joining games with someone you hate.

Popup isn't giving the option, although the Community list is showing the option to join friends playing TF2. Odd.

Would anyone on my friends list gift me the BS Trilogy? I can repay with an equal sale game from a daily or the summer sale. Out of town and can't do it.

Send a pm if you please.

The more I read about the remakes of the Broken Sword games, the crappier they sound. Guess I would rather have the originals for all of them, but seems it is just the Director's Cut for the first game that is on Steam. Guess GoG is the way to go here. Sucks, because $2.50 for all 3 is a sweet deal.

Too bad you missed out on GoG offering it for free last year. I wouldn't say it's all bad in that if I were to play the game for the first time, some of the extra content wouldn't bother me so much.

Yar. From here:

It’s also worth pointing out: in the end, I’m the one who made the call on the various sales and promotions. Nobody, not Valve or Gamersgate or Impulse or anyone, forced our hand on anything. I made the call because I thought it would allow us to sell more copies, make more money and have more people enjoy the game. And you know what? We succeeded on all fronts. The sale promotions ultimately made us a lot more money than we would have otherwise, and I’m glad we did them. The only regret I have is that our very first promotion was as deeply discounted as it was, but in the end I’m still the one who approved it. So if I have anyone to blame for that, it’s ultimately myself.

The game basically went from being $20 to $1. I remember people saying they were buying that pack just to get Recettear. Had it been $5, they probably could have made quite a bit more. Lessons learned for them, though ... and they still made money off of it.

That makes me glad I bought Recettear during the winter sale, doubt we'll be seeing it in any indie bundles soon after reading that. Sucks that I missed out on the initial $5 bundle though.

Geez people sure like to overeact. The Director's cut is really just a handful of extra scenes...if you've played the original, they'll stick out otherwise they're fine.

For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of the original and played through multiple times...I can live with or without the director's cut but it shouldn't be a reason to buy or not buy it at this price....Buy it!

Just bought Darksiders 2 for 10$ on GMG...feels good!

The game is 50$ -10% (flat discout) - another 10% (the current ubi deals) - 5$ from the disciple 2 trade-in - 25$ from a prepaid mastercard giftcard I received for my birthday.

I was hesitating between that and Assasin's Creed 3 which I will probably want to buy too but doesn't look like Ass 3 will be steamwork (did Ubi ever even did a steamwork game?). I know the game is already available for pre-order on steam proper but there's not info and I have a feeling tha GMG might end up doing the same thing they did with Batman:AC. Batman is a steamwork game if you buy it from steam but if you get it on GMG you get a capusle download with securom.

Anyway, woot for DS2.

I'd say PC gamers passed the sanity test on not buying that POS
PC gamers should have bought Lost Planet 2. Amazing on PC but noone is playing (or at least anyone where it doesnt lag).

The ORC situation is hilarious if Capcom uses it as a sales reference. Everyone knew from the month of feedback from people playing on consoles to NOT buy the game. If you push out a bad game you throw it on every platform at the same time.

My friends and I are waiting for it to hit 5$ for a proper 4p run.

I loved it so much on 360, I'll probably rebuy it on PC.... the problem is the game absolutely sucked without 3 people min.

Completely awesome though once you got those 3.

Well to add more in, the game will be worse than L4D or DOTA if your team decides to troll or suck.

Outside of that, completely awesome. Lol. The moving train stage with the finale is magnificent. Having 2 people man the side cannons with two working the big gun. *Drools*

Dragon's Dogma on PC is a damn shame and I'm still holding out for a PC edition, though I'll probably pick it up later this year if its not announced.

Just got a confirmationg from GMG that Assassin's Creed 3 will be a capsule download on that site. I guess I'll wait for a steam promo.

Two free games and the orange box...

Also both Nataly and Grant have a mutual friend in their list. Rant. A

And in Grants friends list another user with only Team Fortress 2 games with an attractive female picture, just like Nataly. Obviously another hat farming alt.

Gentlemen, what we have uncovered here is bigger than Steam or GAF. It's some sort of Ukrainian hat smuggling operation. I fear we have only scratched the surface of this international hat grifting syndicate.

I get like one of these a week.

Picture of hot girl - check
Russian comments on their profile page - check
Only TF2 with 3 hours played and a couple of free games on their profile - check
Begs you to give them things in broken english, or wants to trade your most valueable items for games they got in a indie bundle for 1 cent. - check

If a game has steam cloud where can i find the saves?

it varies from game to game, in your documents, or in steam apps (most likely in Steam apps for cloud saves)

As far as I can tell each game has a certain limit of mb's for cloud saves.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is great but it has some serious framerate problems (BIG drops during races).

I'm reading it may be an AMD problem, fuck...

Yeah, it seems like it's a problem in AMD/ATI graphics cards. :\
Setting the Low Detail Models option to off or 1 player makes the game have less framerate drops, but the game looks uglier as a result. :<

Wow, I found this at the Sega forums. It's from a SUMO Digital developer apparently.

Doggy coding? Woof!

The truth is actually a lot simpler. The game sometimes needs to compile shaders for effects based on the video card you have. So sometimes if it encounters a shader it's not seen before, there will be a small stutter as the video card goes 'Oh wait! This is new, one sec...'. All the new shaders get stored in a shader cache, so once you've played all courses with all characters and fired all the weapons, it'll stop happening.

If we had every PC in the world, with every combination of graphics card, driver software and DX version, we'd have pre-compiled the lot, but we don't - so this is the best compromise we could make :p

WTF Sega? So I have to beat the game to unlock a stable framerate?

Remember how Battlefield 2 would be "compiling shaders" for 20 minutes before a round every time you started a new instance of the game?

Maybe they should have implemented some sort of disk-based cache that runs on setup/installation instead.

Yep that's the exact same problem I'm having. The game is 100% smooth until projectiles are fired, or a character is attacked/hit.. It's pretty frustrating cuz this happens quite often while racing. This happens with my Radeon HD 7970. Not sure if it applies to all AMD GPUs or not..

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Either they could do something during installation, or make it do it during loading screens. As it is, the loading screens in the game are very short.. I wouldn't mind dealing with longer loading screens if it fixed the problem.

Also, I've been playing it for 6 hours, finished all the grand prix cups and it still stutters, so I don't think the dev's solution works. You could probably finish everything with all racers and it'll still stutter. However, if I replay a track a couple times the stuttering will go away completely.. until I exit to the menu or move on to the next track lol.

They also change some dialogue for the worse. The big problem, though, is that they very obviously iOS ports. What with those big blue circles that always appear near important background objects and the blurry upscaling garbage.

The GOG versions are worth the extra money just to be able to run the originals in ScummVM.

I don't get it, why are there so many detail settings, what do they all mean?

What do i have to set my game to be set at maximum quality, idk why SEGA had to complicate things...

Set it to low detail models 4 players, and the other settings to high if you want max settings. I originally set low detail to off, thinking that disabled the low details but nope.. having it set to 4 players makes a HUGE difference. I don't know why they added such a setting only to make it incredibly vague to what it does.

Setting low detail models to off helps a bit with framerate, but not much (for me at least). It's mostly due to the developers poor coding with how shaders are cached and they mustve not tested it with many GPUs or they just didn't have the time to code it better so that it'd work better on more GPUs.

I had the same issue the first time I got the game. I rarely if ever encounter frame drops now, though, so I guess he's telling the truth.

I've finished all of the tracks and Grand Prix cups in all difficulties with a few different characters, and while it does help decrease the stutters.. it doesn't completely negate them. It still stutters for me quite often, just not as much as when I first started playing.

I blew all that on Saints Row The Third which I never played on PC. :\

I blew most of it on Battlefield 3 -which I kinda regret with all the Origin sales going on now...-

Origin has this 50% (1st Year Anniversary Sale)
That's for Singapore at least..
Kingdom of Amalur with all DLC except the Teeth one.. is 22USD?

Codemasters stuff is getting updated in the registry, so I'm guessing we'll see a Codemasters midweek sale today.

ClaDun x2 got updated today as well. Have we heard anything about a PC release?

90$? how?

Well I had like $150 before. I just made a thread on a forum I frequent when GMG switched to dollars for certain european countries. I put my referral in the OP, clearly marked for people who don't like that kind of thing. Also back then the bonus was $5 for referrals.

What?

Is that from the registry or something? I would so double dip on that game, I love Cladun. I wish they'd do the new PSN one instead, though if true, has a different name...forgot.

Yeah, it was added a few months ago.
