No clue, but the AE sale is coming up this July and Strands are going to be $209.

If I may ask, where did you hear about this?

I was planning on stopping by an AE store in NYC tomorrow to pick up Strands before this weekend since I need some new shoes, but over $100 off to wait 1 month ..

I think it may be at Nordstrom only- they have a sale every July where AE's are $200.

Guys, I have a lot of boots but no jeans that look good with boots. I have looked everywhere but I cannot for the love of fuck find some slim jeans that look really good with boots.

I'm kinda short and slim. Any recommendations?
Levi 510s worked for me, I sized down to 31/30 from my usual 32/32 and that does the trick. I wear a pair of kinda dressy but worn black leather boots and black 510s pretty much whenever I'm not at work.

Just want to register my dislike of Dr. Marten's on anyone who is not a construction worker or a 16 year old "punk". Groooooss.

Yeah they are just ugly as fuck.

Got some new work shoes today, im not 100% on them but my old ones were destroyed and these were £30 down from £80 so should hopefully hold up.

Also a pastel blue colored shirt (well I think its that color or my eyes are fucked) that should go well with some burnt orange shorts I picked up a few weeks ago.

This is going to sound dumb, and maybe this is the wrong thread, but I have no idea what to wear when I'm walking/jogging/running. I have some bro cargo shorts and some fresh nikes, but the cargos chafe after about 30 minutes. Do I wear athletic shorts? What's the right length and material? I don't want to look like a basketball player from now and I don't want to look like a basketball player back then, either. Suggestions welcome.

wear athletic shorts. Exercising isn't glamorous.

I do not avoid women, GAF, but I do deny them my essence.

Get some asic shorts. Having them end above the knee is more comfortable for running. After running cross country for six years I no longer am embarrassed about short length.

I've been wearing little swimming trunks/shorts (with the mesh lining removed) to exercise in for a few years now. Minimalism is comfortable!

Went on a Naked and Famous spree today. All Weird Guy cut:

Glow in the Dark Denim
Red Core Denim
Low Tension Denim
Indigo/Indigo Denim

Also got the Thickbelt and a cardwallet both in natural.

Going to take years to fade them all haha.
Nice, man! The Naked & Famous Weird Guy are probably my favorite denim cut out there. I own 3 pairs.

Can you (or anyone for that matter) share some of your tips for fading? I've yet to really experiment with this and I'd like to particularly with my dark wash pair. I seem to recall you posting a pair of jeans you faded that looked fantastic.

Really? I thought there was a process or technique to it? I've worn these particular pairs of jeans quite a bit over the last year or two and I've yet to see much of anything in the way of fading.

Not raw denim then. You should see fades start to set in within a few weeks. I mean, what sort of 'technique' would there actually be?

Creases should set in in a couple of weeks, not necessarily fades.

Even non-raw denim can fade though a lot less noticeable. What brand, cut, style denim have you been trying to fade?

You can definitely see some subtle fading in sunlight after a few weeks. Creases don't take weeks to set it. But if he has been working on them for two years it won't ever look like the pair of N&F jeans he's referencing a while back.

Bought a pair or AE Strands in Walnut. They're so sexy, my first pair of truly nice shoes. I got shoe trees and all the cleaning/maintenance stuff the Manager recommended. Can I water these every day to work and just maintain them once a week?

They're the Naked & Famous Weird Guy Indigo Selvedge that I'm trying to fade. I'd post pictures of them but unfortunately, they're with my tailor right now.

I definitely have creases, and those set in real fast, I just haven't seen anything in the way of fading and I thought that was odd. I mean, those are raw denim, right? Also, Alucrid by "technique" I was mostly referring to if fades were a result of washing them a certain way. Sorry, I'm totally new to this aspect of denim.

Ah, okay. Well you can throw them in a washer or let them soak in a tub with some detergent. The former will result in more indigo loss (of course this is for the entire jean so both areas will fade equally) and result in a bit more shrinkage. The latter will result in less indigo loss and a less shrinkage. So it whatever method you choose depends on how much of a contrasting fade you want the jeans to have.

Example of a machine wash

Still, it's odd that you don't see any fading after two years. How much have you worn them?

I've bought and thrown away so many $200 shoes but I can never bring myself to buy $400 shoes for some reason

Do it and just replace the soles when they get worn down.

Thanks. I now have 7, a bit out of control.

Just wear them all the time. There's no secret to it unfortunately, you just have to wear them as often as you can. I have a pair of Indigo Selvege as well, and they have faded the least. I have just come to accept that they won't fade as much as some of their other fabrics, which is alright because they have a gorgeous color with just a bit of fading.

I wore N&F Weird Guy Indigos for a year straight in 2010. They should have fades even without washing if you have actually been wearing them for more than a year. How does the fade from your wallet look? What is your definition of wearing "quite a bit"?

The common recommendation is to wear the shoes every other day to give them time to dry out (damp accelerate the deterioration of the leather).
