back from my ban!

uncanny x-force
: most worthwhile x-book in ages. and with mckone gone and noto on board we have some great art to match how good the writing is.

american vampire: lord of nightmares: loving it, and if it's even half as good as the first mini it'll knock it out of the park. the reveal at the end was oh shit!

batman: solidifies my feelings that this book is just standard super hero stuff and not as good as snyder's DC run. oh well, it's still a pretty fun ride.

can't wait to read: chew & saga!

Yay! You're back. Lets talk morning glories

So obviously there's very much a weird death/time relationship that Hunter would probably have some control over due to his inability to tell time or be affected by it. The question is, what purpose does it serve and how did Jade figure this out? Its obvious the staff knows something about this since they wondered if Jade knew

Fraction is out of Iron Man???
There's gonna be a big shakeup post AvX. Rumored teams are the following

Hickman/Ribic on Avengers
Remender/Opena doing Astonishing Avengers
Fraction/Larocca moving to FF
Gillen/Land moving to IM (this is confirmed)
Bendis doing Xman books with Yu, Brandon Peterson and probably Simonson and Deodato

Of course Gillen would be leaving us when Uncanny X-Men is the best it's been in decades.

Will still have Aaron's WATXM and Remender's UXF, I suppose

But we get Hickman on Avengers. Looks like they are going to be having Gillen cleaning up another one of Fraction's mess. Not sayin IM is bad but readers are declining.

Didn't Bendis respond to the X-Men rumors on Twitter by saying that his next thing is much bigger than that? I dunno, too lazy to look it up but I remember a tweet like that.

I'm fine with Fraction leaving IM, personally. He's doing his one big story with Laraccoa that all culimates in Stark vs the Mandarin, and he could leave after that several-year long story is over. And it'll read much better in trades.

Not a fan of Greg Land getting more work on books I want to read, though >_>. I'm fine with Fraction taking over FF, however.

But Bendis on X-men on God why. Probably some stupid shit like Cosmic Phoenix X-men helping the Guardians of the Galaxy in space. "Fuck Earth, you guys are racist, we're out of here" and Utopia goes off by itself or something.

Is All-Star Superman #6 one of the most beautiful single comics ever written or is it just me? I almost don't want to read the last six issues because I'm afraid they won't top this sublime bit of perfection.

Just skip the next 2. Its the awful Bizarro mini-arc

Phoenix X-Men having adventures in space actually sounds like a refreshing take on the franchise.

Except, have it written by Waid instead of Bendis.

The last page of Daredevil was hilarious and tragic at the same time. Incredible.

i don't think Jade wanted to figure it out, i think she legit tried to kill herself. the staff definitely knows something but who knows what they're up to.

saga: woah! so good. lying cat is the best and it looks like we're gonna get some real action next issue. wonder what repercussions the will's actions will have. dun dun dun!

Went to comic store today to pick up BDI's Critter #1
They didn't have it!!! =(
ugh why aren't all publishers on the digital bandwagon yet???
Small pubs like Big Dog Ink should be the first to go digital. >_<
Anyway ended up picking up Freak Angels Vol 1. I like Warren Ellis so I hope this is good.

I though so at first, but when Jade kills herself via the hanging they talk about how future Jade had a towel ready for her and how she tried to do it that way

i mean just because future jade knows something is up doesn't mean "present" jade does... right? i mean the first time we see Jade die/time jump is when she figures it out. i don't know, i have to re-read the whole series soon.

Anybody else think that Uncanny X-Force was all over the place?

nah i felt it was pretty cohesive. i think in context of the arc, it'll feel more organic. the Arrested Development reference killed me, too. Steve Holt!

all this Uncanny X-Men loving and i'll probably never read it...how good can a tie-in to AvX by Gillen be? I'm immensely skeptical.

God. Fucking. Damn.

You are hereby required BY FUCKING LAW to read Wonder Woman #10. It's definitive proof that Azz fucking GETS IT. It's motherfucking quintessential Wonder Woman stuff. It's goddamn beautiful.

Just got to this. Fucking Elvis Costello man. Great book. Ill get to UXM 14 later after work

Loaded down with comics today, from this week and last.

Marvel Comics:
Avengers Academy #32
Avengers vs X-Men #6
Daredevil #14
Dark Avengers #176 (I decided to skip the "Dark" issues, and follow the "T-Bolts" issues)
New Avengers #27
Punisher #12
Uncanny X-Force #26
Uncanny X-Men #14
Wolverine #308
X-Factor #238

DC Comics:
Batman #10
Demon Knights #10

Other Publishers:
Conan the Barbarian #5 (Dark Horse)
Dejah Thoris & the White Apes of Mars #3
Warlord of Mars #18 (Dynamite)

I haven't cracked last week's books yet, but OH MY GOD such amazing comics this week. AvX #6 was the issue everyone was holding their breath for without realizing; last issue really did change the game, and with the new players and a new world dynamic it's only going to get more interesting. Kieron Gillen and Dustin Weaver absolutely steal the show this week though, with an AMAZING issue of Uncanny X-Men that everyone should buy; the promise of those last few pages made me positively giddy with excitement. Avengers Academy is proving no slouch in the AvX tie-in market, either, and I can't help but love X-23's continuing development as the defender of choice and free will; given her background, it is the perfect role for her. Daredevil was thrilling from start to finish, Samnee is killing it on art chores, and what can you say about that ending except HAH! And, Greg Rucka is putting on a master class in how you write comics with CHARACTER in Punisher; Frank's been saving up his words all series for this issue, and they don't go to waste, and Rachel Cole-Alves is rapidly becoming my favorite new female character.

So much awesome. Oh! And to top it all of, I picked up this little gem today too:

The final season of the best Batman cartoon to ever air on television. Best Comic Book Day in months! :D

That's what pisses me off about AvX I was gladly purchasing Uncanny, WaTXM, AA and the like but they had to come in and ruin it. I'll jump back on Avengers Academy in August after the tie-ins, but just please WaTXM alone, those brahs were building some beautiful and unique.

Yeah that was by far the best part. The Betsy stuff was super lame though even though I'm about 99% sure it is not exactly what it seems.

that was the only confusing bit. it's pretty clearly not angel and the professor but i have no idea who it really is. some telepath in the brotherhood, clearly but who's strong enough to fuck with psylocke like that?

Shadow King, who's been hating Psylocke since Psy-War back in the 90s(and recently again, in UXF #8). He was that fat guy talking to the unknown Brotherhood leader

Okay, show of hands... who among you can honestly say that you expected to hear in our lifetimes the phrase "ya'll tha snitches that got me my riches" pass through the throat (or whatever) of the infernal Man-Thing?

Nobody? Thought so. >:D

The way they explained that was pure genius. The other thing in that issue was great too

I dropped UXM a few months back because although the ideas were bold and interesting, there was a lack of pathos that made me feel detached from the whole thing. I didn't care.

Might have to check out that new issue you guys are raving about.

i remember Gillen best for his conclusion to JMS' Thor that i didn't like and his continuation of Whedon's Astonishing plotpoints in Uncanny X-Men that i bought the tpb after reading good reviews and finding it somewhat enjoyable. So...mixed. I tried his first issue of Uncanny X-Men and didn't like it enough to go on the 3.99 constantly double shipping road.

I read the Bart Simpson's Pal Milhouse one-shot, it was okay. I still have a problem with comedy books in that i don't find a lot of things funny enough to keep my attention but i don't regret buying it.

Invincible was awesome. Mark is always getting beat up.

I'm such a sucker for Monster Girl and Rex.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
DC announced its planned trades for January through April 2013, and in doing so revealed that people won't have to wait the previously standard 10-12 months for hardcovers to come out in softcovers. Now they'll be releasing the softcover when the next hardcover comes out. So when Batman: Vol 2 hits hardcover, the softcover of Vol 1 will arrive too. That's at least a step in the right direction for those who don't do hardcovers.

There's no second volume of Brubaker's Catwoman listed, which is unexpected and disappointing :(

Avengers vs X-Men #6 was surprisingly good, probably the best one yet but that's not exactly heaping praise on it.

New issue of Dark Avengers was pretty pointless. It didn't concentrate on the new Dark Avengers at all, but instead the old Thunderbolts who are stuck travelling in time or some shit.
They also found Dr Doom who makes his way back to the present
.It felt like a .1 issue or something, and a bit of a kick in the balls after last issue.

Huh?
Is this the same Doom who was last seen in the ruins of the council of the reeds in FF? Seems odd that they've picked up that thread in an unrelated book.

No, another
Doom pre this. Past F4 arc IIRC where they left Doom battling the great white's grand daddy.

Hickman/Coipel make me smile so much. And Gillen, OMFG. That was beautiful. SO beautiful.

So what all clones does he have? I know I saw Cyke, Maddey, Mystique, Sam Gunthrie, Sabes, and Gambit. Any others?

It's an unexplained plot point from FF run. From when the marquis of death threw him in the past. It was never stated how he got back, just that he did stronger than ever

Wow, that is insane value. This is one of Alan Moore's secret best comics ever. Amazing art, great stories. I'm kinda tempted to buy it myself, that Gene Ha art is gonna look mind blowing.
