Resident Evil 6 DEMO VER. Thread: Capcom's final chance for redemption

Quite excited to read what GAF thinks. I just hope the negativity isn't that much.

When is this going to be available for PS3 peeps? September? Ugh. I don't have Dragon's Dogma either, so I guess I'll have to wait till they make it available for the hoi polloi.

Was RE5 that bad? I mean, redemption? RE5 wasn't your typical RE game but it wasn't bad...if so, I can imagine a lot of devs opting to be as bad as that game, no?

I can understand the complaints saying it doesn't feel like resident evil.
But I agree it surely wasn't a bad game, if more "bad" games were like RE5 we'd be well off.

Already know what the impressions will be...."RE6 is shit." "Capcom ruins another franchise." "Resident Evil is officially dead." RE4 still the best in the series."

Throw Mikiami's name on the game and GAF will praise it. Lol.

Btw, can you get the demo with a used copy of dragons dogma? Might swing by a redbox to check it out.

Oh, fun, time to redeem that code so I could just boot the game once 2am rolls around. I am very interested in seeing how this game performs, I'm afraid that it will be 'tear city' on 360 / MTF from here on out.

I don't think it's like that at all. I loved all the main RE games, but RE6 looks so rushed and poorly optimised that alot of people are pretty cautious about it.

So has this demo some more security or if you have the file can you still burn/put it on a usb drive.
And run it like any other demo?

And is it still allowed to post a link to that demo if its out there?

no. it was great, just like very other main RE title.

Yeah, I remember enjoying it a lot -- both solo and with a friend playing co-op.

Exactly what I was saying. Kinda weird that most of the people here are trashing it due to what they've seen so far. "Too action-ey," "Not scary enough," etc.

It's like when RE4 transitioned to a different control scheme. People were saying it sucked, etc. But people nowadays are quick to call RE4 as the best one in the franchise's history.

I admit the overall scare factor of RE has taken a dramatic downturn, but it's nowhere near bad in my opinion. This and Dead Space are all we have left.

How does it look like it's rushed? Honest question here. It's not like they pump out a major entry in the franchise every year.

The only thing I'm very wary about is the UI and the new menu system. It's too big and seems to be modeled after a 90's mobile phone UI or something.

are they gonna keep the fast inventory right?. i love the fact that you could even reload during the animations and stuff like that. was pretty strategic!

(i¡ve only seen 2 trailers)

Is there supposed to be a voucher with a copy of Dragon's Dogma? I bought it used, so maybe I won't have access to the demo.

It comes down to the shooting and animations for me. I've made my peace with them not going back to survival horror, or even RE4 style of action horror, but in that case it MUST be a great action shooter, yet it looks very poor IMO. Twitchy movement/aiming, awkward animations, mediocre gunplay, etc. It doesn't look like it feels good to play.

I just want reports from GAF. Once you learn how to filter the hyperbole, there's no better critic out there.

Looking forward to it with excitement.

I know, I know, looks shitty, Capcom is shit and all that, but I'm in love with this series, and love can be irrational.

Resident Evil 4 didn't change the control scheme. The Tank controls were always there, what changed was the camera angle. Up was still forward, down was still walk backwards.

Damn it, sorry to hear that. =( At least the dick that took the page is in the same position as you are(demoless)?
It's cool I got the game for $30, and is totally worth it at $60 let alone $30. I wonder if it was the original owner that kept the page or someone else, idk.

Were just going to have to wait and see about being able to use a Disc or USB drive.
Even with the way it is, I wouldn't rule out the possiblilty of it working just yet.

Also as much as I love RE4, It still irks me how many people praise it for being perfect and like it didn't change the way the games were. Lets be honest here While i'll agree RE4 had more atmosphere it was still very VERY action packed compared to everything before it.

Not to mention RE3 if you plated on easy gave you tons of health, ammo, and weapons making that one fairly action packed as well.

Seriously everyone who says it was RE5 that completely changed everything doesn't seem to realize that RE was slowly progressing that way anyway. Outbreak were the last Survival Horror games everyone seems to love so much.

*I love all the RE games by the way.

^THIS

I never got that either. RE4 was more action than scary. The rest of the main RE games were just more of the same, with alittle better controls. I love them all as well. I can see how people might of liked the partner stuff in RE5 though. Personally I never had a problem. I always had a buddy to play the shit out of it with online.

So a PS3 owner buying it for early acess pretty much got boned.

When I bought DD on Ps3, I bought it because the game looked awesome. If there was a way to give away my Ps3 RE6 code I would, I have no interest in playing bad Motorola Xoom esque low-quality shooters. RE6 literally looks like a bad tablet shooter.

Thanks!

It was known before DD launched, that 360 was going to have a 2 month headstart on the demo. Dat moneyhat hard at work.

I didn't buy DD, but hopefully the people that did for the RE6 demo mainly on PS3 knew.
(Which it looks like a mjority of them did)

I hope it will be a pleasant surprise myself, I haven't really watched too many footage, only saw the really terrible QTE one, but I heard the other gameplay videos showed something cool so I hope the demo will be decent.

It's by the same producer as dmc4, dd, and re4, so maybe something good might come out of this.

Looking forward to the meltdow~ I mean impressions.
Please be good!

If any of the "impressions" revolve around the main complaint of the game not being scary, they'll be completed ignored by me. At this point in time that isn't something that can attribute to the game being bad.

I recall that he worked on Dino Crisis as well (or at least someone high up working on RE6 did anyway)
I know that doesn't attribute to much now since capcom has all but forgotten about it.

As PrinceOfApathy pointed out (lol), I think the main reason to get DD wasn't the demo access, but the fantastic game itself.

Edit: I think I'm beyond the point, where I expect RE games to be scary (RE:R was though). RE6 just looks like a complete trainwreck from a technical standpoint to me, and at most like a mediocre action title.

Interested in the impressions from the 360 owners. Guess I'll have to wait 2 months heh. Just hope it won't turn out to be a complete pos.

Would be surprised if DD ended up being the better game when RE6 gets released.

Did the PS3 version of Dragon's Dogma perform better than the PS3 version of RE5? I played RE5 on 360.

Actually RE5 on PS3, despite having slightly worse PQ due to AA method they used, performed better than DD. It was also vsynced.
That being said, RE5 consisted of mostly corridors and not open enviromnents

I already like the RE6 trailer more than RE5 itself. Damn Capcom making me wait until September for the PS3 demo. Oh well Dragon's Dogma was worth the $60.

That's when Xbox Marketplace updates ever day. 2 AM PST/5 AM EST.

I never minded it to much since it means I wake up to now content.
(Or wake up start the download then go back to sleep)

Much better than Playstations Store time, I'm not sure what it is what's it's always a pain since I have to wait later in the day for content.

But special content usually gets put up whenever, right? there have been many times that a demo or game goes up at midnight on PSN. I have only had a 360 for a couple of months so I didnt know about this update time.

It all depends.
Since I know MS has done the same thing a few time's and put up content at a special time. I guess it's just a matter of how they feel that week.
