New Need for Speed: Most Wanted gameplay and details

It's been a few years since my last NFS. I'm hoping this one will be good enough to earn my money.

A bit off topic , I really just want underground 3 but now that Criterion is in charge I don't think it will ever happen.

Same here. I really enjoyed UG2 and frankly I'm tired of running from the cops all the time. Sometimes I like to just drive around the world and explore. Having police chasing me every time I stick my head out of the garage ruins that.

Really reminds me of a spiritual successor to Burnout Paradise, which makes me very happy. This was confirmed for Vita, too, right? And Criterion was hiring Vita devs? That would be amazing to have it on Vita AND be made by Criterion themselves.

I am SO FUCKING PUMPED FOR THIS GAME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

I loved Burnout Paradise to death.
I will love this to death. I have to. I WANT to!

Just hook it up to my veins!

I will probably double dip at launch.
PS3 for playing with friends, PC for enjoying gorgeous graphics. Awww yeah!

HP used a modified version of Frostbite 1 right? Hence Dice logo in the titles.

Nope.
Hot Pursuit used chameleon which was a heavily modified version of renderware.

Dice have a credit because Dice did a large portion of the environments......the engine is Critereons through and through.

P.S Im going to get both the X360 version and the PC version.
Yes HP was rendered at 30fps but the underlying refresh rate was 60fps so people who say HP didnt feel right on console are talking shit, the game feels just as good if not better than most 60fps racing games.

Im curious if there are any body modifications and or vinyl options.

I loved Burnout Paradise, so I'm really glad that this game is more of that but with the best elements of NFS: Most Wanted.

What about the slow-mo and shit?

I do wish that there was a way to disable it. I can't remember the amount of times that I crashed someone in HP only to have the game pick back up with me inches a way from riding a guard rail.

Anyway, one thing that surprised me is that Criterion mentioned in another interview that Most Wanted is the best selling game in the series. I was almost certain that one of the Underground games was the best selling. Especially since you always see people wanting a third game in that series.

Hot Pursuit had a great sense of speed and controlled well even at 30 fps.
I remember reading somewhere that Hot Pursuit has the input reaction of a 60 fps game

Yea, this

I don't think that the splitscreen is accurate. I'm pretty sure that Criterion has said that it wouldn't be possible for them to draw two screens at once without taking a serious tech hit.

has anyone heard anything about decal options or a custom livery editor or something like that for this game?

I don't know if there's a livery editor, but it's supposed to have different paint schemes and decals that you can unlock.

About the framerate... I played the original in a PAL PS2 so I don't really care if it runs at solid 30.

@Tguy DF analysed its input lag and yes, it was around 80ms (60FPS "feel" responsiveness).

It's too much to ask that the customization be Midnight Club: LA levels, isn't it? Not that I need that extent of customization, but obviously, I'd like it.

All I really want is a strong sense of progression and unlocking. That's what keeps me going in racing games. I don't want them to hand new cars to me every 10 minutes.

To make this game decent, there should be an option to get rid of the awful fancy cam stuff that made the burnout games lame.

I don't need to wait 5 mins for a crash cam, I don't need to see fancy take down cam stuff and I don't need it when I make a big jump of a ramp etc. It breaks up the game play and annoys the shit out of me.

More to the point: do we really need burnout versions of all the decent NFS games? just look at that hot pursuit remake, it was complete crap.

The NFS series is dead to me now. Why can't we go back to the good ol days with a solid racer, nice tracks, nice handling and no BS?

It's sad that ridge racer has turned into this infested crap as well.

Your opinion. Many felt it was the first good NFS game since 2005's Most Wanted.

lol, so you are just now saying this? The series broke out of that form like 10 years ago.

I find it funny how some are saying the series is dead now as if the series has been so great this gen...

This is sounding a lot like Burnout Paradise 2.

This is sounding more and more like a racing game I've could have only dreamed of. It's hilarious thinking that Most Wanted, my most favorite racing game, may be surpassed by Most Wanted.

Yeah it is my opinion, as it was many others. The game was a flop.

Not just saying now really, but it had to be said. And this gen sort of covers quite a few years this time round...

Whaaaaa?

The game sold like 8.5 million copies, it in no way was a flop.

And, generally, people loved it.

Couldn't disagree with you more.

I'm really interested in more info on the Vita version.

I really hope it's a port of the console version and not some watered down iOS or 3DS port....
