Yeah but you can say that about any game surely? Im just unsure by what it being a launch game means its not worth full price. Do you just mean the games are kind of old now and so should drop in price? If so fair enough but that logic is applied to all games really.

It's not about the quality of the games; it's that they've been out for several months and are inevitably going to drop in price. Wipeout and HSG are already $20 new at Walmart. Very few games are going to remain stable at the $40 price point for much longer, so buying now is likely to inspire regret.

And you're right. That's why buying at launch is inadvisable for most games. Even Disgaea 3, a fairly niche game to say the least, was $30 soon after release--though it might have held longer if it wasn't a port.

Just Vita, but that shouldn't make it impossible to do. I see some people with about 30 games and a few hundred XP.
The disconnects I've had show 2 single inning games and 1 full game. Other games they haven't counted at all, and as I mentioned, one of those was 13 innings.
Just doesn't make much sense.

Now that some time has passed I've been given about 25 points for my 13 inning game. So I'll take back what I said for now.

Hey guys,

this is my first posting for NeoGaf, so I wanted to start with something useful:

I really love the fact, that you can buy every Vita game in the PSN Store, but what I found annoying is that you can't transfer save data so easily. So I was fiddling around a bit and noticed that in fact you can transfer just the save file of a Vita game onto your PC without a problem; of course this works only with the PSN version of a Vita game or if a Vita game on a game card saves directly onto your Vita memory card. But there is a little "twist" to it I'll describe later, so this is how it works:

1. You need the Content Manager for this process, this does not work with the PS3
2. Plug in your Vita in your PC/Mac
3. Open the Content Manager on your Vita and choose copying PS Vita content onto you PC/Mac
4. Choose the game which save game you want to copy
5. Start copying
6. On your PC you go into the folder you specified for associating with the Vita Content Manager, so you go into "Vita root" -> Data -> APP -> "number of associated account"

You'll see something like this:

vitatemp.png

Notice the "_TEMP" folder? That is where your game is temporarily copied to.
If you go inside that temp folder you see something like this:

vitasaves.png

The good thing is, that when copying content from the Vita, the save data is always copied first and afterwards all the other game data stuff.

So what you want to do now is copy this small "savedata" folder and paste it somewhere else into a safe place. After that you just abort the copying process on the Vita.

Now you have the save data of your game or your twitter/facebook/foursquare/etc. app. You can backup it now wherever you want just make sure you don't forget to what game/app it belongs. Thus put it somewhere you'll find later when you need it.

And here comes the little "twist" I mentioned earlier: The process of copying your save game back onto your Vita.

When you want to copy the save game back into a game/app, you need the game/app ready on your PC/Mac. So what you're basically gonna do is download the game from PSN, transfer it from your Vita onto your PC/Mac (or you have it backed up somewhere else and copy it) and this is where you're gonna copy your savedata folder into the folder of the game/app to override the existing savedata folder:

vitagame.png

After that you'll need to copy the game back onto your Vita and now you have your save game restored. ;)

Of course this is a bit of a hassle, but at least it gives you the opportunity to decouple your save data from your games/apps, so that you don't have to store large chunks of data just to keep your save file. I, for one don't want to store 3.6 GB of data just to have my save file of Uncharted: GA in a safe place. :p

In the US maybe. SCEE have so far done quite a few deals where the PSN version is cheaper than retail :)

yea, keep rubbing it in. It's give and take with advantages between Euro and U.S. Unfortunately my gaming choices are the ones i'm also at a disadvantage of in the U.S. (PSP/Vita PSN sales, Square Enix love and collectors editions)

I wasn't rubbing anything in. I was simply stating that saying "DD for Vita is crap because retail will always be cheaper" isn't necessarily true.

Another posting that will hopefully be helpful for some Vita users.

The Vita has decent battery life, but sometimes it's not enough especially when you are on a longer trip. Therefore I buyed a useful gadget that brings a lot of power on the go for your Vita/PSP/Smartphone/DS/even some Tablets/Netbooks:

http://www.amazon.com/10000mAh-External-Battery-Sensation-Motorola/dp/B005NGKR54/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341851401&sr=8-1&keywords=mobile+battery+power+10000

Here is the one I bought, it's just another branding for the same gadget:

http://www.amazon.de/Blackfox-BF0213-Powerbomb-Ersatzakku-Smartphones/dp/B006QQVXBM/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341851457&sr=8-1-spell

The good thing about them is, that you get at least 4 full Vita charges out of it. And another cool thing: You can charge two devices simultaneously! So any combination of Vita/Smartphone/etc.
And you can also recharge the Vita while playing it, so no standby stuff. ;)
It's also not that large, so you can easily put it inside your bag.

I'm using my Powerbomb for two months now especially for my Vita and Smartphone and I'm very pleased with it. So check it out if you want some heavy power on the go for your Vita. :D

'Cause it's the difference between $20 and as much as $40. No compelling reason to pay double :\
This makes no sense to me. It's like going onto a new car lot and saying:

- "I'm not paying $50,000 for that car. I'll only pay $25,000 for it."
-- "The price of that car is $50,000, sir."
- "That car came out six months ago. I've seen other people driving that car on the street already. I'm only willing to pay half that."
-- "Well, I guess you can buy a used one in three years, then."

These games are $40. If you don't want to buy them at $40, that's fine, but Sony certainly isn't going to feel compelled to sell them to you for half-price in the near future. If you want to expend the energy chasing after sales or other bargains, that's fine to, but personally, my time and energy are worth more than the few dollars a sale on Thursday Only at some store that's twenty miles from my house is going to save me. Bottom line: these games are WORTH the asking price if you play them; there's lots of quality content to be had...

HSG is $20 new at Walmart, a very popular US chain. It's nearly $40 on PSN and takes up more than a gig of space on an expensive proprietary memory card. These are facts :\

Having my game collection on the Vita ready to play is not a disadvantage.

Seriously... why are you drawing a dumb conclusion? "Hi sir, would you look to give me $25,000 for this car or would you like to give me $50,000?" is a more apt comparison.

Well, for those on a limited budget though it pays to buy smartly that way you can enjoy more quality content. I've got 8 Vita games preordered on Newegg at $10 off each. You really don't have to wait that long, at least for retail price drops. Assassins Revelations was half off within a week, SSX was just $10 and next week you can get Kingdoms of Amalur for $10. You can get Modnation Racers Vita for $10 today. These are within like 4-5 months of release and the game is still the same. If you can have patience and not fall victim to launch hype it pays dividends and can help you budget money for more games.

This is the biggest disadvantage of DD it takes too long for them to catch up to retail sale prices.

They are not "catching" up with anything. It is that way on purpose because no one wants to piss off the retail chains. If they drop digital prices, and it noticeably eats into retail sales the chains could simply threaten not to stock hardware and games. when you see the revenue the retail stores generate yearly of course the DD prices will be hiked to keep them satisfied.

I purchased the Vita at launch. Because of the sale at amazon I received, HSG, Wipeout and lumines for 27 bucks each. The only games I paid full price for has been Gravity rush, Uncharted GA and MGS HD.

It is always about paying attention to deals and the trade off. I play so many games, I felt my purchases are worth it because I would be able to move on to other titles instead of just waiting around for prices to drop.

Or... Simply purchase games you think are worth it. I wouldn't purchase modnation at full price.... it being only $10 won't change my opinion. There is a reason some games drop price so quickly. Chances are they aren't worth it.

There's nothing wrong with taking advantage of special offers, especially those that pop up before launch. You're still not paying full price for something that depreciates in monetary value at a fast rate.

none. I just don't find them fun, they just cheap shot you over and over and it breaks the flow. I did them all after however many attepts. I got to the the piranha bit (I did use the flail) and sure, they then fly into you, but its boring and if you don't start it the second one appears you get munched on for ages and.............its just not fun for me lol. I read how far away I was and all I had left after that was a bunch of bosses. Seeing as I don't enjoy them I decided to play other games instead that I would enjoy.

I really did enjoy the game at first but it just grated on me towards the end. I think one of the worst bits about the game is the camera. Its a game all in itself.... and one you will inevitably lose lol.

Yeah, that was probably for the best then.
I honestly doubt I'll platinum this, but trying will keep me occupied until AC:L. :b

I've actually had no problems with the camera, but I use the R button a lot more then the right stick when it comes to manipulating it so I don't take my fingers off of the buttons during a fight.

Another good deal just posted in the BST thread :)

I have a copy of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PSVita that I'm looking to sell. I only played it once and realized I didn't need the collection on my Vita when I had the same collection for my PS3. I'm looking to get $30 shipped for it.

But they do play catch up. PSN does have sales, just later and when prices drop, they usually take a little extra longer to catch up. Like ICO/Shadow of the Colossus, you have been able to get that for $20 for a while now but PSN just recently dropped the price on just colossus to $10. Also like FF IV complete and Tactics Ogre. And with PS plus they are literally giving away games for free so they obviously are not that afraid to step on retail toes.

Well of course you buy games you're interested in, my point was you purchase them smartly and if possible contain your hype and give it a week or a month and you may pay significantly less. I will never buy an Assassins Creed game at launch again. I wouldn't be buying Darksiders 2 at launch if I wasn't getting $12 off from newegg and still getting the limited edition. I'm a big Transformers fan but unless newegg offers a similar deal I will be holding off on that game till a deal comes along.

That's weird, I bought a few games from the Atlus sale, and if I run, say, Crimson Gem Saga, and set the console to standby, the in-game clock doesn't pause, it keeps running. I checked after leaving my Vita on standby for quite some time and noticed that I had like 50 hours in, when I have barely played it.
It's really annoying, has this happened to anyone else? Can I fix it?

All they can do is give the retail stores breathing room. If they didn't have the power to drop DD prices then there would be no point in offering it.

I gotcha. I guess the thing is, people can never tell. For big retail games on console I relied on gamefly to temper my purchases. It helped out alot. I only jump based off of known history, so I throw caution to the wind for devs I follow.

Huh, that's odd. Perhaps it's software-specific? Haven't had that happen to me with Tactics Ogre or FFT.

there's ALWAYS ONE
I don't really know, I've only tried with Crimson Gem Saga and Persona. I'll check with my other games.
It's software specific, and not unique to the Vita. I played Persona on PSP and had the same amazing 75 hour clock time after only playing for four hours. It's fixed in Persona 2. If you own Persona 2 and have the same problem, then there might be an additional Vita issue.

Also agreed. Convenience trumps all, for me :) On a handheld, anyway

Sony should follow Nintendo's lead here and give b&m retailers the option to sell PSN download codes with a variable pricing model.

If I could get retail deals and discounts on digital games, I'd be far more likely to go digital. I still like having carts for single player games I don't really intend to keep coming back to -- something like Gravity Rush, for example -- but if I could get a $20 digital copy of Lumines from Best Buy? All over that.

Vita could really use an activity log app to counteract this sort of oversight. I know it's trivial, but I like keeping track of my hours :\
