Yeah, even the spacing between the stick and buttons are wider, I think. Hard to find images of the PS3 version, even a month later.

I never did get the V3-SA Kai but the SE is a definite lock for me, preordered with Diamond VLX (my wallet, sigh). Can never turn down an SE stick, especially when it is Hori.

I'll be in Japan next week and I'm going to try to find a Hyperstick, or another Namco, or the old Hori SS stick. When I was there a few weeks ago I just stuck to the main shops and Mak and did not see much stick-wise...though did see the MC stuff displayed prominently in Yodobashi. Now I'll venture to the smaller places and go to Super Potato. Sucks, I'll be there a few days before Persona Stick/Arena and 3DSXL/NSMB2 release (argh).

BTW, I've been using this one (below) the last two days for shooters in anticipation of the Persona Stick. Nice little stick. Working fine. And, I weighed the big two-player MC VS connected panel. Just over 16 lbs. Can't think of any arcade stick heavier, even the old X-Arcade was only 12-ish. Thing is a beast and unique.

Aw yeah, feelin' good! My first ever stick mod is complete! :D

Just successfully completed some button replacements on my stick. Getting the original buttons out and putting new ones in took a bit longer than I expected and had me worried once or twice. Wasn't quite expecting the buttons to be as hard to snap in as they were. I'd swear some of the holes were a teeny bit smaller than others.

I also found myself with a screw snag at the end... One of the little nuts glued in place underneath the black shell -- to catch the allen wrench screws -- popped out. I didn't have any glue handy, so I went with a little piece of duct tape to make it hold while I tightened it. I'm sure I'll have to revisit it the next time I open it (to install a TE Kitty), but mission accomplished for now!

Hey guys, I know nothing about arcade sticks, is the HORI Real Arcade Pro V3 SA good? I can get one for around $120.

It's a solid stick. Sanwa parts. However, there is an improved one coming out later that has different features and some improvements to the current product.

Alternatively, Newegg also has a deal on the Mad Catz FightStick PROs (SFXTK branded) for $100 at this time.

Can't go wrong either way.

Personally I'd wait for the KAI though.

Awesome, thanks :)

I love this thread!

I got my first modern stick back in early 2007 for VF5 (HRAP3 instead of VSHG, grumble grumble). And my GAF account got approved the same month this thread began, though I was a lurker since 2003 or so.

Love seeing all the new retail releases and the custom jobs folks do. Lots of smart people knowledgeable and willing to help, which is always great!

Dude you're hardcore!
Kudos for loving something so fiercely!

Hey guys I was planning on selling my Super Street Fighter 4 Tournament Edition "S" black edition stick to a friend. I was thinking of just selling it for $75 but I'm just wondering if its worth alot more? I dont mind selling it for cheaper since its to a friend but I dont want to sell it for cheap if its worth way more

Well arcade sticks don't really lose there value. These aren't computers, so it's not like a Fight Stick Pro has all a bunch of new features that a TE-S doesn't(doesn't have any major features as far as I know). But with that said, it is a few years old and used so it won't be as valuable as when it first came out unless it's a rare stick. If it were me I would try to sell it for $100, but considering it's a friend, I'd say $75 is a fair price.

Wow,

That's different!

Recommending a competitor's product? Don't see that often!

The Kai is looking better to me now after seeing more of the features; I think the grip texture on the baseplate is long overdue. Definitely have a preference towards the 360 Seimitsu edition. I hope one of Toodles' Kitty PCB mod kits can be used on that stick...

Still would like to get the VS joystick and maybe the Fighting Edge.
Doubt we'll see the blue VLX joystick show up here other than outrageous import prices... I know more than a few of us wouldn't mind a blue VLX but I doubt Hori's going to import any into the US. They're kind of busy with their other joysticks!

Better yet,

MarkMan seems to insinuate that the Kais will be coming here. They really need to bring out something new and drop the older V3 and VXs. Plus nice continuity with the FE line.

Also, Hori put up on their Facebook that the FE is now available via Amazon.uk for those on that island. I'm pretty sure that helps out folks in mainland europe as well, but pricey at 180 pounds.

I were looking at buying the V3 as well for $106 but when is the next and improved version out? What upgrades does it have?

Oh, what is this one good at compared to the V3?

V3 is probably better (and cheaper!), and more easily moddable. This Fighting Edge one has all new Hori parts, a touch panel and cosmetically looks very minimal. Jury is still out on it since it is so new.

The new V3 and VX Kai just came out in japan (amazon.jp exclusive). Not sure what has changed other than spacing, an anti-slip map and new graphics. V3-Kai has been out for a month and I can't really find any info, not even on SRK.

Hopefully Hori USA picks them up for fall US release. It would be awesome to have a cheap replacement Seimitsu stick for the 360 here. Refresh of the EX-SE, so to speak.

I guess I'll buy one V3 as it'll be my first Arcade Stick. I won't mod it, I just need it for my Tekken.

What can one do with the touch panel on the other one? For menu navigation?

There is also a TTT2 Hori stick (new form factor) slated for early September, but so far only Japan and only PS3:

hhhnnnnnnnggg

I thought to myself I have a stick for 360 and ps3 so I wouldn't need another stick but that stick is too good.

About the same build as the SCV stick it looks like, which is my favorite stick I've tried and have.

Does anyone know how much it costs to build a stick yourself? That's what I'm aiming for. I just want to build something that looks stupid as fuck or something. Gotta dual mod that as well.

If you do it on the cheap and don't want it to look like garbage, it's around $200-250. Dual modding is super easy now that there is the PS360+. Don't even have to know how to solder!

Markman, any chance of a noir layout stick in the Pro case for TTT2?
A real homage to the Noir arcade cabinet.

I like everything about the SCV stick except the multicolor case and that would be perfect

Well, that is very interesting...the VX-SA Kai for NA. Japan did not even get that one yet. Glad I took a chance on them coming to the states and did not order the V3-SA Kai last month. Guess that means we get the shaft of the new VX-SE Kai, second time in a row NA does NOT get the new Seimitsu stick.

Order still stands for the VX-SE Kai that ships next week! If Hori decides to bring in later this year then I will double-dip!

Fightstick Pro prototype reminds me of the old japanese generic release. We need another generic stick from MC.

That was actually an idea I had for my Fight Stick Pro when I wanted to change out the art. Except I'm not talented enough to make one from scratch. D:

That would be awesome.
As much as I love my Hrap SE's I still have a soft place in my heart for the TE RD1, that is just a great stick and really ignited my love for fighting games. Look forward to what madcatz has cooking up, would love to get another stick from them.

MarkMan I hope you have the new and improved OT2 ready for this thread, since in a few posts it's ready to be closed by mods (20k post limit for server archiving).

Just a reminder.

Shit, when were the Kais announced? If I knew about them I wouldn't have bought a VX-SA in February.

Ah well, it's still a great stick so I can't really complain.

Rats!

We miss out on another Seimitsu release from Hori????
The 360 Japanese Kai release is an SE but the American 360 edition is ANOTHER SA????
(May have to search for an old SE model in the future on-auction...)

EVERYBODY:

The HRAP V3/VX Kai's have been announced for over a month. I don't know who put the notice in NEOGaf, but it's been a few weeks. Markman hinted at the US release of the Kai's it seems something like at least 2 weeks ago...

I like the case changes for the Kai releases myself. They reinvigorate the HRAP V3/VX and also make the HRAP V line better and more desirable. The HRAP V line needs it because it's looking old and cheap compared to the Noir-style joystick release and especially the Fighting Edge joystick. As it stands, the HRAP V line has has strikes going against it since its original release and needed refreshening to deflect some of the criticism.

I just wish we got the chance to buy an SE model in the US besides the 360 SE release on the older HRAP-style case over 2-3 years ago.

I would like to save some money and not have to import!

Tekken Tag Tournament 2:
Sony's only exclusive in the series is Tekken Tag Tournament 1 --; the joystick tie-in for that was released Japan-only, sometime around the release date of Tekken Hybrid which featured the hi-res remake of Tekken Tag Tournament. The old HRAP style/HRAP 3 joystick itself was called Tekken Tag Tournament (2?) Prologue and was a full-HRAP (quick disconnects, no soldered buttons), too. Again, the joystick was old-style HRAP and NOT another HRAP V variant.

A real shame. Seems like the EX-SE was a total oddity for NA, now.

But, Japan will get the VX-SA Kai down the line...and they will also likely get a VS-SE Kai.

I do collect the Hori SEs. My favorite stock sticks so no way am I taking a chance on Hori releasing VX SE Kai here eventually (and don't think that ever will).

Paying the premium from amazon.jp next week with Tenso.

(and, yeah, that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue stick was totally bizarre)

I found a Saulabi 4K on Craigslist when looking for a copy of Tekken 6 PS3. Guy's selling stick + Tekken for $40, can someone tell me if that'll be worth it?

I kind of wanted a stick for a while, but don't want to spend $100+.

This has probably been asked to death, but the forum page everyone links to 404s on me. So I know the PS3 version of the Street Fighter IV tournament edition stick has problems with certain PCs, as it detects it just fine but I can't get any of the buttons to work. All the suggestions say to buy a new PCI card so I was just wondering if this one would work? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JFJZGG/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Edit: Ah, sorry about that!
