Assassins Creed 3 PS3 “includes 60 minutes of exclusive gameplay.”

They do not call it ''exclusive DLC'' because we all know it means something forgettable. They call it ''exclusive 60 minutes gameplay'' in dev-time which either equals in 10 minutes of oné of the most shittiest missions or something even more shittier.

Even though it's more than likely to be crap content, I'll wait an extra couple of months to play it so that I get it at a cheaper price, Ubi don't deserve full price for this shite.

Or maybe because it's on the disc and not DLC?

I agree that this probably won't be much though. I hope it's not a trend.

Weird, hasn't every installment of AC been technically inferior on the PS3?

I preordered the PS3 version last week but I've got my mouse hovering over the cancel button so I can click it as soon as I read the technical comparison between consoles.

I am not particularly excited about this exclusive content news.

Extra naval combat scenarios, maybe?

I contacted Ubisoft about this to see if I could find out what it's all about. Here's their response:

“At E3 2012, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed III will feature exclusive content on the PlayStation 3. We will have more information on what is included in this content at a later date.”

But as far as I know, the only exclusive content announced at E3 were unlocks through Assassin's Creed III: Liberation for PlayStation Vita (and the unlocks were for the Vita game, IIRC.)

That's bizarre logic. When it is something forgettable, no one has a problem calling it DLC. Isn't it more likely it's just because it's not DLC, it's authored on the master itself?

Yeah, I don't recall any such thing being said about the PS3 version.

WHY

360 versions consistently outsells the PS3.

Because they're either dumb, or are just Sony fanboys.

Sony pays for it so it either with straight money, free marketing, or lowered royalities.

Well, they should've took that money & put more effort towards the dying Vita handheld.

Revelations was better on PS3 according to lens of truth.

LMAO, Lens of Truth are a joke. I trust Digital Foundry & B3D Forums a lot more better in multiplat comparisons.

Didn't these guys say just the other day that making your games too long is "suicide" or something to that effect?

But also, the Ass Creed games have always been pretty dense, so I'm willing to believe that it's a genuine 60 minutes of extra mission stuff. There'll still be plenty of game in the other versions.

I cannot imagine how horrid the 360 version was then, because the PS3 one was brutal.

I just skimmed the Lens of Truth article and on balance the two versions are on par. 360 performs slightly better in the framerate/tearing department. PS3 has slightly more detailed textures sometimes. What you value more highly determines which version is better.

From the publisher's point of view, sure. From the developers who are actually doing the work? I doubt they're killing themselves over it.

True, the publisher is mostly taking in the extra cash from Sony but I think you're right in that the devs don't see any of it and it just creates more work for them that wasn't originally there.

Isn't it basically timed exclusive DLC worded differently? Surely it'll end up on 360 in 6 months or something.

And again, even if it sells the same without the content the publisher wins because they got more money out of the first party to put it on there. Obviously there is some good deal they are getting or they wouldn't put the extra effort which of course means extra money into it if there wasn't a decent return.

It's probably an extra quest related with Liberation, and if you connect the two consoles it maybe you could play as Aveline? Wishful thinking.

With how they treat the PSV version of SFxT with the PS3 version (sony). I'm almost sure this is Liberation related and sony covered the cost for the content. Something to get PS3 owners interested in buying and linking the PSV version.

I'd rather have entirely exclusive games than exclusive content.

That said, 60 minutes in AC time really doesn't mean much, and then DLC history for this series hasn't exactly been stellar.

But hey, its nice to know there is some content I won't have access to on my platform of choice. Thanks Ubisoft, I guess.

No Jesper Kyd, exclusive content for the platform I had no intention of buying it on... Y'all makin' me mad, Ubisoft.

The way I see it is that since the PS3 is the full version, it is the only version worth full price at $60. Since the WiiU and 360 versions have less content it is worth less in my eyes so I'll buy the game on those systems when it drops to $40. You can really expect gamers to pay full price for less content.

Every year I get excited for a new Assassin's Creed game and then I realize because of stuff like this is the reason I wait for the $10 or less digital deluxe edition. This generation of gaming is so damn dumb. Was planning on a PC and WiiU double dip but now I think I'll just wait it out.

Good point. Agreed entirely.

And this just reminds me, I need a new symbol.

lol you are literally a self parody.

Should have spent the time and money to do something cool if you linked up the Vita version with it instead.

"Liberation makes use of the Vita's touchscreen and rear touch pad, cameras and gyroscope. These include Chain Kill combat, and the ability to pickpocket people. By linking the game to Assassin's Creed III, the player will receive an in-game version of Connor's tomahawk, an exclusive character skin, a multiplayer character and a complete upgrade of all ammunition pouches"
