So I got Medievil off PSN to see what Sir Daniel is all about. I only got a few levels in but I really don't want to play it anymore. Why did so many people want him in this game? He has an ugly design, his ingame moveset and controls sucks, the theme of his game is generic halloween affair, there is no story and thus no characterization outside of the fact that his death was highly acclaimed yet unheroic, the game itself has horrible level and enemy design. I almost never see his games talked about outside of the context of PSAS. His three games got middling scores and sales.

Man I just really don't see it. One of you guys are going to have to explain to me why he is so damned special.

It was one of SCEE's first 1st Party games.
Sir Dan is one of SCEE's first heroes
MediEvil 1 + 2 scored awesome reviews here in europe 85% - 90+%
MediEvil 1 + 2 was awesome during the PlayStation 1 era (Resurrection/PSP has a completely different art style than the PSX versions)
SCEE's Cambridge Studio received a BAFTA Award for it
Sir Dan is f+cking awesome and a legend!!

It's confirmed that others are doing the OT. Don't know who, but not me. I will do the images for the second discussion thread, though. I'll also revise some of my images when the beta is out in US/EU stores.

That being said, I hope to hear some new stage music soon. Would be funny if they had Sammy Hagar playing in the Twisted Metal stage, but even not, it doesn't seem there's a custom soundtrack option. :(

*Edit: MGS4, and MK9 to a lesser extent, were total fucking spergfests, no way would I ever do such a thing.

Could play PSASBR for about 2 - 3 hours and absolutely loved it.
I want mooooooore! I need my PSASBR fix :/

So basically he is in because Europeans have bad taste? Well it explains some things but it's not exactly satisfying.

Also why does everyone think posting a picture of him is enough. Its a skeleton with a sword. Its not that exciting.

Edit: Hell I've killed thousands of skeltons with swords and armor in about every single RPG ever made, western or eastern.

Its very much the same game either way, so really you have to make the decision based on your own play habits. It's probably best you learn to make decisions for yourself sooner or later anyway.

I loved MediEvil back in the day. I sold my copy aeons ago, so I really should get around to playing it again sometime, especially now that everything would be fresh in my mind again.

They were good games during the PSX era.
Replaying them now as a newbie could be difficult though ;)

And I LOVE Sir Dan's design!
Different people, different tastes.

This character feels like a waste
Smash Bros. Over/Under 5 times
Multiple characters feel over powered
Ring outs
Ethan Mars
Vita version shouldn't exist

MediEvil was absolute class act when it came out.
Maybe it doesn't convince you now but it was sort of the de-facto (great)Tim Burton esque game. Tons of charm and lovely easy to grasp gameplay.
Had great music and quality actors in a time when voice-acting was a luxury. You weren't there, let's keep it at that.
LittleBigPlanet represents british quirkiness in gaming today, MediEvil had that role in the late 90's.
Definitely my favorite character addition to PSAS.

At first I thought you were saying this haha. Yeah they're definitely going to plug Ethan Mars. I think the idea is hilarious, but if they actually did it, he would literally be a joke character - unless they somehow Frankenstein'ed a viable playstyle that was fun, hilarious and actually good.

Kazuma Kiryu would be awesome too.

Jen Tate....ha. Would be a nice way to salute the loss of that dedicated fan I guess.

Sorry guys, it's not that I don't like your impressions, it's just that normally fans are a little more biased so they forget about the negatives of a product. I'm frequently guilty of that myself.

Man, I've been having some huge issues with lag lately.

A couple matches that were basically unplayable because everyone was just constantly teleporting everywhere.

Constantly getting caught by attacks that I clearly dodged.

A few times, I've just suddenly died without anyone even doing a super.


Also you guys are right about this RedSkinsRock asshole. Does literally nothing but his electric slide all match.

Hah really unbelievable,we already listed the issues with the beta.

Gerg loves this game,he already said that in the psblogcast.

Comments like that makes me unsure of how objectively he/she is looking at the game. Some other people say it's pretty mediocre but I don't want to believe them either because many are just probably trolling.

He clearly wrote the flaws of the game, yet you ignore all that and head straight for the last sentence. Piss off.

I haven't been keeping up with the beta situation for this game. Is there any way for me to get a code now, or do I have to wait for the public beta? Also, when does the public beta start?

You could get a Hong Kong PS+ account but I would wait. I think it's coming to other regions pretty soon.

I'd say to wait for the Beta to be released to the public. Glitches I wouldn't worry too much about, since most people seem to have found them. What it is is just to test the online servers anyway. As far as balance goes, I do see a lot of complaints about Sly's supers (specifically that level 2).

I'm waiting for the Beta to properly judge how the game is myself. But I'm a smash player, so it's something that I'm optimistic about.

I keep hearing about how in the beta, it is hard to distinguish between characters and backgrounds, could someone elaborate?

Most recent game I can think of where I had a similar problem was with Sonic Generations. I only really had this problem once with the game (very beginning of Green Hill Zone with Classic Sonic) but that time when I couldn't figure out where Sonic was on the screen really pulled me out of the experience and annoyed me as I tried to keep my eyes on him. (thankfully that was only a few short seconds in the first level in the game)
