It's about time. Didn't really understand why it was delayed so many times. Especially since the Android version is still not coming out simultaneously.

And the price is gonna be like $15 I bet
Probably gonna be free with $15 IAP to unlock all chapters or something like that.

Maybe Apple certification issues... Guardian Cross' Japanese release got rejected thrice.
Or maybe they just wanted to time it with the event.

I was JUST wondering when this was going to come out lol

The game does look like old school fun.

So is the Western Android version cancelled? I've kind of been preferring the form factor of my Nexus 7 over my iPad when it comes to games lately and was looking forward to playing this on there.

It is not one full game? I mean, I will buy it anyways, but for how long it has been worked on I thought it would have a complete game.
The game was released as chapters originally in Japan for feature phones, just like FF4 The After Years. They're all done, but they're still charging per chapter with this version it seems. Just like FF4 TAY on WiiWare.

I see, I'm not a fan of that kind of business structure, but whatever.

Wait, so is this really not gonna bother with an Android release at all? Smartphone gaming almost never interests me but I'd probably pick this up if it's not an iOS exclusive.

Well, the Japanese price is 250 yen for chapter 1 and 850 yen for chapters 2-4, or 2500 yen for the whole thing, but there's no way it'll be over $20 for the entire thing here.

Very interested in it. Even if it looks like a bad up-res of an RPG Maker game, it has a lot of charm to me.

Sadly, I don't have my own iOS device yet. Me and my wife share an iPad so I might do that (if it's not like Tactics or Chaos Rings and isn't a Universal App), and get my own iPad Mini down the line if that rumor turns out to be true. Otherwise, my T-Mobile contract isn't over until July, and who knows? Maybe by then, they'll have ported it to the eShop or something.

They fooled me with this "Old School Final Fantasy" dance once already (The After Years), so I think I'll sit this one out.

So, 8/31 is gonna give me some old school SMT on my 3ds and old school FF on my iPad? Gonna be a great day.

It is, just not outside of Japan at the moment.
Seeing as how FFIII was recently released on Google Play and has been selling well, it doesn't rule completely out the option of it ever releasing there outside of Japan.

Is this game any good? If not how long is the game?

Part of that was the fact it was tied down to being basically FFIV-2. I want something that's like a forgotten 16-bit title. But not only would that work better as a single purchase I imagine, but it seems they're redid the graphics for the iOS/Android version so it DOESN'T look like a forgotten 16-bit game anymore, but rather a cheap mobile cash in (which it really seems to be admittedly). Seems more like an idea I would've liked built for the ground up on GBA or DS, but we're past that now and they seem to have no interest in attempting it on anything beyond older Japanese cellphones anyway.

But The After Years was old school Final Fantasy? It had disgustingly high encounter rates that were all back attacks and ridiculously rare drops, even!

Sucks that the Android US version has been cancelled. Game looks like such a halfhearted cash-in but I was still curious (not curious enough to buy an Apple product though).

Just woke up and saw this.

Siliconera says this one is coming to Android devices, iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad on August 31. But, I guess they got it wrong, right? :/

I would have liked it a lot more if it had any sort of consistent balance.

And less recycled stuff.

I did like the multitude of characters plus the combination attacks.
