PS Vita firmware 1.8 is the one to watch for PSOne Classics

What are the odds that we are left trying to figure this out on our own, like with psp games that can only be transferred through the ps3?

I bet we'll have games pushed to us on the store front but have some that we need to experiment with. 100 at launch should cover most bases, though.

MonkeyPaw Games will make five of its PSOne Imports and Classics available to Vita users tomorrow, when the new firmware adds PSOne support to the handheld. Alundra, Arc the Lad 1 and 2, Vanguard Bandits, and the recently released Tomba will all be playable on Vita in North America starting tomorrow, the publisher told Joystiq.

Anyone making a thread for ps1 games ?

I really hope they tell us exactly which games will be compatible (or just put them all on the Vita store) or this is gonna be a huge testing marathon (and a bunch of account switching) for me tomorrow.

Don't we already have all the details about 1.8?

They usually do a post saying "firmware incoming. Here's what it does". He probably means that. So firmware is likely tonight.

I'm sure they will list them

I bought my Vita months ago specifically for this moment. So pumped.

I have a US Vita with a US PSN account. But I'm living in Europe now. Problem?

First game I'm hoping to give a go is either Grandia or FF VII. Never completed either of them so really can't wait for this update to go out!

The more that I think about it the less I think I need flawlessly rendered, portable Vagrant Story. I don't have much free time as it is...
All 100 better go up or I'm dumping my Vita and going back to the PSPgo which I originally had before trading it in for the Vita.
Are we sure that it's limited to a small number of titles? The PS3 had full PS1 software emulation in 2006.

is there any info if new psone games that haven't had a digital release yet, are part of those 100 titles?

should I stop getting my hopes up for one of them being Colony Wars? especially here in the states?

I will double dip on Chrono Cross if it's available to play. I've only beaten it once, and it was around the time it released.

I already have Alundra, Vagrant Story, and Castlevania: SOTN on standby. I've already beat SOTN, but dammit, I love that game! I've only gotten a little bit of playtime on Alundra and Vagrant, so they'll be new to me.

Let me check my magic 8-ball:
Signs point to no.

That is, I think Sony is just trying to get the PSOne emulator on Vita working at this point and (that I know of) no statements about getting new PSOne classics up in the store have been made.

I might use this as an opportunity to finally get around to beating Chrono Cross. That and getting those last two titles in Vagrant Story - kill 5000 of each monster and use each weapon 5000 times. Heh, I'm in the 'against' team for achievments and Vagrant Story would have to be the only game I've ever really bothered doing it for.

I play through SotN once or twice a year. It's definitely one of my favorite games ever. :)

So people don't have to re-buy the PSOne games they already downloaded on other Sony systems? That's awesome for the consumer, but it might be a good example of why SCE struggles financially.

Looks like the only games available tomorrow are:

Arc the Lad
Cool Boarders 2
FINAL FANTASY VII
Hot Shots Golf 2
Jet Moto
Syphon Filter
Tomb Raider
Twisted Metal 2
Wild Arms

*cue Price is Right Sad Trombone*

Didn't MonkeyPaw already say that Arc the Lad 2 and Vanguard Bandits will be available, too? That would mean that's not the full list.
