Rough estimate for my 64GB iPhone 4S anyone? Gazelle is offering $350. I give it a 6/10 condition. Nice nick next to the sleep button, various chips on the edges of the display and scratches here and there on the display. Otherwise, its perfectly usable. Is $425 too much to ask for?

Any warranty left on it?

Guess this is the deciding post for me not to get it. The thing about it getting dirty easily was already a huge negative.
Yup, avoid at all costs.

Sold my 4 on eBay and, while I did get quite a bit for it, the scratches on the antenna due to the bumper definitely brought the price down a little bit.

I actually ended up getting another bumper (lol, didn't pay the full price, of course), and ended up ditching it after a couple of days.

It's been about a month now since I took it off, and I've been rocking my iPhone naked since.

I wouldn't consider warranties, especially for something like your iPhone, for suckers.

Anyway, $400-425 seems alright to me. Factory unlocked, or with a carrier?

Locked to AT&T. I think someone on here already went out and proved why Applecare is for sucker when it comes to the iPhone. $150 for the warranty itself and $50 deductible each time up to 2 uses(I'm going on about shattered screens and such because everything else is cheap to replace yourself or pay someone to do). Costs $200 to replace an out of warranty iPhone through Apple.

$100 for Apple Care.
$150 is less than $200.
$200 is less than $400.

Some people drop shit. Like my friend the other day. And me with my 3G.

wait till 5, then look at craigslist

you get can a 4 around 200-240, and S' around 300. after next month you'll be able to take 50 bucks off that

So its $100 and another $50 for each use up to two uses. I think I rather fork over the extra $50 if I have to use it. If I shatter it a second time well.....some people just aren't meant to have nice things.

*I am also apart of the club that shattered my 4 and Apple replaced it free of charge. It was also in a case in which is why I don't use a case anymore.

Hey! So I was thinking of getting the iPhone 4S since I'm currently with the iPhone 3GS. Is it true the iPhone 5 is expected to come out in September, thus making the 4S cheaper..?

The plan changes based on the handset you buy? Where do you live? :S

Australaiiaiaia, and yeah. so a Samsung could be $28 per month, but the 4S is $48 per month, and once mobile company releases a new mobile, the previous phone often gets reduced.

Why, what's it like where you are?

Seems very strange paying brand premium on your monthly bill. o_O Surely they'd want people to aggregate towards new handsets, not shy away from them.

You pay a 100 euros or 200 euros up front depending on the model and then you choose a plan. If you choose a better plan, the entry fee can get reduced or goes away outright.

I don't buy phones on contract anymore, though.

Oh wait, what am I thinking.. o.o You choose a plan, then you get to choose a phone that's accompanied with the plan. But some phones may be like... $15 per month on top of the plan itself, which could be $29, so you'd be paying $44 for a HTC mobile and the plan per month.

But for the iPhone 4S, it's $19 per month, on top the plan itself which is $29, so $48 per month. Is that how it works in your country?

Well, sort-of, we just pay for part of the phone upfront.

That's really interesting though. I'd say wait for the 5 announcement to get a 4S then.
Or you know, get another phone that's more in your price-range. You can barely go wrong these days.

Here you buy a handset at a discount (say 249 euros for the high-end 4S) and then have a plan that isn't tied to any specific handset itself, you're free to swap to any phone you like that can use the carrier you're using. Since carriers are legally required to unlock handsets for you if you ask them to, you could re-sell the 4S as unlocked privately and use another phone with the plan without any issues.

GAF,

Is there an official battery app you guys use? I need to find out what exactly is killing my battery life on my phone. Literally took it off the charger at 100% and an hour later I am down to 75%. Very light usage. Something is killing my battery. I close my apps and it doesn't really seem to help.

Don't know where else to ask this, so just decided to ask here.

I had an iPod Touch. Lost it somewhere about a month ago at a coffee place. I just picked one up again today and did Restore from iCloud from my previous backup on the old iPod. Everything worked out fine, until it started asking me to confirm emails that I don't know of. Could this be that the person who picked up my old iPod and has started using it by adding in their e-mails?

Would like some clarification on this.

could be,
so you didn't remote wipe it as soon as you lost it?

Yeah. Went to icloud.com and tried to see if I could locate it first. Thing is if the person was smart they wouldn't connect to WiFi. I requested a remote wipe on July 19, and still says pending action.

Not sure what to do from here. I'll let that asshole enjoy it I suppose, but is there anything I could do to protect my account?

well if you had a password set he must have passed that one first. :-/
and if he's now been using it online he must have come online at some point, strange that it didn't wipe it then...

Yeah I had a pass set. To be honest it's bizarre when these random e-mails started popping up and asking me a password for them. I don't know why else they would show other than the guy using my old iPod...I don't really have an explanation for it. Can someone do a factory reset if they don't have the pass code entered?

Really confused at all of this

Got my 4S, Siri is pretty fun to use, helpful too, heh.

About to get mine tomorrow, can't wait!!! I'm so glad to go back to iOS lol. Also I now have an 8mp camera, good stuff.

So, I've had my iPhone without a case for a couple of months now. Feels good man.

However, I dropped my phone, landing face-first on a cement surface from waist height (I missed my pocket, lol). Thank goodness I had a screen protector, which took all of what would be major scratches to the front. I peeled it off just now and the screen itself looks as new as the day I bought it. There's my argument for screen protectors. And I think I might go back to a case. Just the matter of finding a good one.

Hey GAF, I currently have a car mount for my iphone 4s but when I'm driving, it vibrates and shakes the phone, it's slightly annoying when I'm looking at the GPS and it's shaking. Anyone recommend one that really locks into place and doesn't vibrate around when you're driving?

I have something similar, but not exactly, like this: the bendable arm is what doesn't give it enough support to stay still I think

battery time has really gone to the shits with iPhone devices

had 50% left and went for a walk listening to a podcast and using a training app with gps registering the walk.

after 45 minutes the phone died, battery had run out

I really hope Apple works really hard on improving the battery time on the next iPhone or I might just switch to something else

edit: after connecting it to power and charging for about two minutes it is back on 19%. I have had this problem before with the iPhone just dying with lots of battery left. what the fuck is up with that shit!?

I cannot trust my phone

My gf constantly complains about this too...

It's best to just complain instead of doing something about it.

Take it to the Apple Store, but you probably need to restore it as new. (Fixes 90% of all battery problems.)

I've done that twice now. Unfortunately it doesn't last.

the problem is though that it is not easily reproduced, the phone doesn't always spontaneously turn off, it happens regularly yet spontaneously.
anyway she has been to the shop with it, what makes you so confident to judge us all for apparently not doing it?

If you've been to the Apple store there will be a record you were there and issues weren't resolved and issues are persisting. If you're under warranty they'll swap the phone or replace the battery.

Germany has 10 Apple Stores, none near my gf, she went to her phone company with it, needles to say they couldn't help her without seeing the problem.
