Toshiba 4K Video-gaming!

To experience the most insane video-gamging ever, get a 4K Quad-FHD screen from Toshiba and connect a powerful PC with a 4K-capable latest/fastest GPU such as ATI 7970 and Nvidia 680, you can then play many of the latest big high-end games that thus render the full 3840x2160 of the game at 30fps, it looks awesome.

I don't see the point of 4K.

if you have a camera take a 2MP picture then take a 8MP picture, print them both out at the same size & that should give you a good idea of how much more detail you can get from 4K compared to 1080P.

I see the point of it, and am looking forward to it, but anyone who makes this investment now is either insanely rich or making a really silly investment to brag about it.

Seems a bit confusing as they're pushing it for people who want really high-end products and have the best PC setups...yet only 30hz...could use a few more years in development before a major consumer release....perhaps to coincide with the PS5.

It's not like Blu-Rays would make the most of it right? Or?

Increased detail in new games will look better with increased resolutions, as it always has been. Lets check back in 2017.

The f*** is this nonsense! You can't make 4k games on existing retail hardware. It's suppose to be impossible!

And not seeing the point of 4k is like saying you don't see the point if HD.

At this point in time I guess so, or need a ridiculous amount of pixels for something.

I remember when people scoffed at the idea of 1080p. Next-gen we might see games running at 4k. Costs need to go down first and mainstream acceptance of televisions. This is still a good 6-7 years off from mainstream; which is perfect to coincide with PS5/Xbox1080.

Fixed for 8 years ago

this is going to come up every time this particular topic is breached, and the people comparing it to the jump from 400-500 lines of resolution on a CRT to 720-1080 lines of resolution on a flatscreen seem to be missing the fact that unless the screen is at a certain size, YOUR BRAIN CANNOT RESOLVE THE IMAGE PAST A CERTAIN POINT. Meaning for most people, the only way 4k TV is going to be at all an "improvement" visually, so far as clarity of image goes, is if the TV is pretty much replacing a whole wall of your house. That's it.

Comparing it to 1080p is disingenuous as hell. It's more like selling speakers that go to 50,000Hz. You can sell speakers that have a frequency range of 5hz to 100,000hz, it doesn't matter, because my ears can only pick up any sounds between 20-20,000hz. That's it. And for most people, in most situations, they're never going to own a display large enough to make use of the extra lines of resolution going 4k would provide.

Would take games rendered in actual 1080p with good AA + locked fps over 4k, at least for the next console cycle. Not ready for 4k yet.

When this is feasible (as in price, adoption) I think that games/movies are going to look really damn good at this resolution. I probably won't be able to enjoy a set like this till maybe 2020.

Your brain can resolve the resolution pretty easy on a 46-60+ sizes. Don't get res mixed with ppi.

that's BS.

Rather have crystal clear motion handling over increased resolution since I move In most of the games I play.

If you're sitting within 2 feet, maybe

I'm not.

Again - a good article for people who just automatically assume the jump from 1080 to 4k is comparable as the jump from Standard Def to HD was.

You obviously haven't sat in front of a 4k tv, and this is one of those fools that think we shouldn't have 4K until we fully utilize 1080. Sure, let's hold new tech back until we squeeze everything out of old out-dated tech.

Considering that the latest retina display Macs look way better than 1080p, the difference is indeed noticeable.

Like all other graphics and display technology, it will be a luxury for the first few years, then soon enough we'll be saying 1080p looks like crap vs 4k, just like SD looks bad compared to HD today.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Good luck convincing all those people who finally upgraded their tube TVs and can't tell the difference between 480p and 1080p to upgrade again.

There is no real point to 4K right now, this is true, but in say 3-5 years there will be. The point will come once stuff is actually built for that kind of resolution.
