Halo |OT8| A Salt on the Control Room

Stinkles

Clothed, sober, cooperative
Halo 4 Forward Unto Dawn "Flag" preview
I wonder if the flag get glued to their hands and sucked in by magnets.

Im looking forward to this series, but man oh man does that color correction look bad. Im not even saying the absence of colors look bad, its just the way its handled looks cheap. I hope its a temporary filter while they work on the final color levels.

Color correction and audio mix are both the LAST things to happen. Unfortunate but necessary. We're seeing final quality episodes with proper color/PQ balance and they are obviously consistent and correct, but we won't be done with them until almost the last minute.

Yall thought AR starts vs BR starts arguments were epic before. With custom loadouts, we'll be arguing about which combo is best for forever.

Please consider my poor colorblind eyes during this process! I lose my reticule all the time on levels like Snowbound, and Im afraid the same thing will happen on Haven. I also have a hard time seeing blue characters in the shadows of Narrows.

Or maybe Ill just get new eyes

That makes me a very happy person. I know that the final look will probably be close to what is in these shorts, but even so with some tweaking it can make a huge difference.

So will we finally be getting new information of a weekly basis? For a while there it was few and far between, and left us grasping at straws (if you didn't notice). With 59 days to launch, I suppose I've been expecting more coverage/previews at this point. I know the month before is when the real marketing blitz starts an all, but we are still left speculating on a lot of details.

Some incorrect information posted on the impressions on the Little English Halo Blog. The only thing that affects team score in Infinity Slayer is 10 points per kill, just like every past Halo game. There is a separation of individual and team score in every gametype that I've seen so far in Halo 4 (yes just like COD if that makes it easier to understand).

The difference in Infinity Slayer is that your individual score adds up to fill your personal ordnance meter.

Really? It's possible I just misunderstood what was going on, but if you're right that really sucks. That means it's just first to 60 kills, what's the point in even disguising that behind a points system? : /

He's talking about the live-action series, not the game. I imagine what we see in the PAX build as far as reticule color goes is pretty much final.

Yep. What're you going to do. Been lamenting this for years, it's just continuing the trend that Bungie started of putting aesthetics over gameplay with their map design. It's map design to impress the reviewers, not to reward players who are still playing Halo 4 every day 2 years from now.

Don't worry! In two years we'll be getting flag killstreaks and even better Forge lighting in Halo 5!

BR + Promethean Pistol. Thruster pack AA. Shield regen and wider radar.

Boom.

Shadow:
Suppressor (assuming it's named that for a reason and has some sort of stealth attributes)
UNSC Pistol
Frag Grenades
Active Camo
Mobility
Stealth

Tank aka OP:
Carbine
Boltshot
Frag Grenades
Hardlight Shield
Shielding

Well I think it's just showing you're getting 10 xp points per kill, and in correlation, making matches to 600 points via 60 kills. I do also believe that it's their so that when bonus scoring is turned on, it'll reflect that. Anything that pops up on screen with a number is going towards your Spartan Rank overall though.

swap wider radar for dexterity and you've got a winner

because then it's possible to give 10 EXP for a kill and 5 EXP for an assist and it not be confusing. If it was 1 point/kill, and you get an assist it would give you .5 and that's just messy

This is so accurate. It has to be.

4v4 slayer on 8v8 maps. (Not to say that's going to happen in MM though).

One thing that I find to be a definite flaw of sprint is the effect it has on map size. Most of Reach's maps fit comfortably into a 'medium' sized bracket and Halo 4 looks to be scaling maps even larger to account for sprint. We'll never see a Warlock, Guardian, Lockout or Midship with sprint.

Speaking of Midship, if one of the three Forge environments is Covenant and they use pre-built buildings (we know that Lockout BR tower is in the Forerunner Forge space) then surely they'll straight up use Midship's assets. Pink Tower, Carbine and the base designs. Then the community could finally build a decent Midship in Forge (no sprint, no AA's, BR starts pls).

Yep, moving the decimal point eliminates the half-point issue, making fast math easier, while allowing the XP rewards to be internally consistent.

I take the name it mean that it suppresses other players with rapid fire.
Also, this. It's an assault rifle what fires big ol' orange blobs. Not a lot of stealth involved.

It didn't seem too distinguishable from the Storm Rifle and Assault Rifle. I'm hoping there's some differences between those guns.

Watch out Frank. dont let the "casuals" know this loadout. they'll call you an LG tryhard. (not all casuals, just a large amount)

:p

Just my prediction for what the hardcore class will be once the dust settles.

They also played 8v8 on Haven and Adrift during certain events so it doesn't say too much.
And if they do decide to make bad combination of maps and gametypes there's always this post.

My thoughts on Silentium may tell how
The Ur-Didact came to Requiem after being Exiled (within a Cryptum) in the Flood Infested system
and fills that explanation for Halo 4.
Something must of happened to Bornstellar (Didact). Possibly killed? Resulting to Didacts consciousness to return and should explain the above spoiler.
The Thursday War is so close and looks like it has a lot of foreshadowing for Halo 4 & Silentium intel already.

The way he described it actually sounds a lot more interesting.
Except that you'd be playing Slayer games to 20 kills.

If you're not using Firepower, you're doing it wrong. Let the loadout battle begin!

Because it makes for a consistent point system across all modes, and makes for a point system in-game that directly inputs to the investment system without having to reassign values to what you did in-game as another value specifically for the investment system.

Its a point system built with the Progression system in mind. simplicity trumped by the illusion of player control

lttp... been a rough couple of days.

I just realized part of the genius of the Flagnum: if you pick up the flag accidentally you can't even suicide in frustration. No grenade throwing.
Wait... what? Why would you want to? If you are still alive, run the flag home! Why would you want to kill yourself?

Everything about it is fine (except the blooming pistol; fuck that). I actually like that you guys are choosing a direction and sticking to your guns in matchmaking.

That said, why such a hard line on the custom side of things? You're catering to Grifball and rocket race and zombies and every other random gametype out there, but not allowing players to have a custom game of classic CTF?

I just don't follow the logic.
343 said several times over the course of the PAX weekend that they aren't making any comments about custom games at this time. Where are you getting the info that they're taking such a hard line in customs?

I don't know if you've tried Google Flights, but I've found they have some pretty inexpensive tickets
THIS is what a friggin' flight aggregator should look like. I owe you, sir.

But now it's confusing because when it says:

KILL +10

Then ten points go on your score, but when it says:

ASSIST +5

your score doesn't go up at all. It would be considerably less confusing to have each kill equal one kill and it count up to sixty kills, then have your XP count up separately. What we have is a half amalgamation of the two, I don't think you can really put forward an argument to say it's less confusing.
