I do believe as an exclusive title Bayo 2 will be a lot more focused and undoubtedly superior title. So we wont get poor ports that just waste time and sales potential.

I'm so shocked (not really) to see so many people posting that they'd never buy a Nintendo console regardless of the games announced for it.

Did Iwata-san run over your dogs or something?

I'm not a huge fan of MS and Sony has done nothing but piss me off for years but I still bought both of their consoles (I own 2 of each along with a PSP and a Vita) because they had games that I wanted to play.

What exactly is the point of being a fan of gaming if you're willing to close off an entire segment of the market due to some misguided bias.

my surprise was that nintendo was the one to pick this game up. Many M-rated games are available on the wii. They're just 3rd party and not published by Nintendo. This one, if I'm not mistaken, was picked up by nintendo and is being published by them.

Hence me saying if Nintendo is changing direction.

Also in case anyone is wondering, I've wrote on another thread that nintendo is doing the right thing. Were it not for the new ps and xbox systems being released next year, I'd be all over the wiiU.

I've even said that I hope this change of direction pays up and that I hope that the wiiU doesn't become the wii which is just a system for nintendo games.

I know you guys have to deal with a lot of trolling from others, but please leave me out of it.
I'm sorry if I was being oversensitive, and I didn't mean to accuse *you* of trolling specifically. But we've been having people coming in and getting banned for dozens of pages, and if you'd read a bit of the reactions in here you might have been able to see how your post could be misconstrued.

Nintendo has had a pretty big hand in many mature games released on their platforms since the N64 era. Nothing about their direction has changed. They partnered with Capcom for exclusivity of a few mature/hardcore games back in the GC era, and they pushed for more mature, hardcore games on the wii. They've been publishing more games developed by outside companies themselves, lately, so that explains part of why they're actually publishing this one. They publish games that are seen as risks.

And I happen to think passing on the Wii U because you don't think the graphics are good enough to be rather silly.

Bayonetta 2 being exclusive to the WiiU is reason to be excited because it gives people a reason to actually want to buy the damn system
I've actually never heard of Bayonetta before all this discussion about wanting Bayonetta 2 to be on non-Nintendo platforms. I was going to pick up a Wii U on launch day primarily for the other Nintendo exclusives people usually want on other systems like Mario.

I figure if people are taking the time to complain that some game isn't available on non-Nintendo platforms, it might be worth looking into.

From doing some research on Platinum Games / Clover in the last hour or so, I'm seriously considering both The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 now. Thanks GAF.

i agree with this completely..

this thread delivers in another way though, it REALLY points out the zealots of Nintendo, who take it extremely personal when you say you don't like their sacred cow, so much so that even daring to say that you still won't buy the wiiu is like some irrational pathetic thing.

Hahah, you looked at this thread, and THAT'S what you take away from it?

PG actually didn't do the port so they were only making for one system.

I imagine what will help a lot more is already having all of Bayonetta 1 as a base.

My problem is that I only get to pick one console. I have to pay for college and a home and I don't make enough to buy two systems and support them.

So it strikes me as odd why someone would be happy that a game is exclusive to one system.

Save a dollar each day from now until the game is released. You can also buy the system, finish the game(s) you want to play, and then sell it again. Your financial situation could also be very different by the time this game is out. A lot of other cool and interesting games could be released or announced for the WiiU by then.

So, I understand your worries, but it's a bit early to start lamenting the exclusivity of Bayonetta 2.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Well that's a pretty low bar to be honest, so it's not entirely impossible if Nintendo really supports the product.

Just wondering, are there any 3rd party, Nintendo-published exclusives that Nintendo didn't bother to market? I know Nintendo heavily marketed MHTri, DQIX, and Tales of Symphonia (not sure if Nintendo published this game).

I'm actually seeing it as the other way arou...

Hey I remember you!

Seeing these comments proves beyond doubt that Nin is making some really good business decisions with the exclusives. Despite the complaining and anger, many of you who say you won't buy the system... you actually will. And you know it.

why is that awesome?

It pleases you that others can't play a 3rd party game on their console of choice?

Also does anyone find it wierd how nintendo is changing their direction with the wiiU?
I thought Nintendo were only about family friendly games.

I love this thread.

I don't understand this shit either. I thought the reason people buy systems is to play games they want to play on them. Yet, when a game they want to play is announced for some system they didn't fantasize in their mind, they get furiously devastated about it.

It is kinda puzzling to refuse to buy hardware that has games you want on it, though. It honestly sounds like some people would be happier with a machine with no games as long as it has their favorite company's logo on it. Going where the games are is really the logical choice. It isn't pathetic or anything like that, just kinda weird, because it really is as simple as buying hardware you need to in order to play the games you want, just as it always has been.

I don't like Nintendo much (not hatred, I just don't care) and wasn't going to bother considering to buy the Wii U until it was cheap at the end of the generation and probably wouldn't at all, but this announcement has me set on day one. And I still think that the bolded is true, unless your financial situation is what's stopping you or you don't care about the game (naturally.)

Where does that put me?? :(

I'm still in shock that Bayonetta 2 is even alive, after the countless rumors that it was cancelled, the fact that Nintendo is the one to revive it, exclusively for their platforms...it literally made me gasp loud enough while watching the Nintendo Direct to wake up my roommate.

I was already buying a Wii U Day 1, this is just icing on the cake for me...

Mirror's Edge 2, published by Nintendo, BELIEVE!

Exactly. Console fanboys are pathetic.

Play games, not logos.

it's not because of the graphics. It's because, currently, I can only support one system each gen. I lack the time and the money to buy two systems and get games for both of them.

I have to save every single euro and cent to buy atleast one game a month and I have to deprive myself of many things if I want to get them.

Depends on what you would classify Excitebots as I guess.

What level of marketing count as "bothered to market"?

For something like Bayonetta, I would expect a $20+ million marketing budget would be appropriate if they really want to sell 2+ million copies worldwide.

Some of the reactions to this news really make it hard to not think that, beneath Nintendo criticism, there really is just a practically religious meme that "Nintendo is LOL stupid kiddy and sux", no matter WHAT Nintendo could ever do or say.

There's so much rationalization flying around right now, denying what is happening in front of people's eyes.

Nintendo is doing exactly what they said they'd do, in spite of all the skepticism leveled at them.

They are doing what it takes to make Wii U the 'something for everyone' platform, they are getting the hardest of the hardcore niche titles like Bayonetta locked down, they're getting Monster Hunter. They pull out a fully respectable and intriguing showing of Call of Duty, replete with features that genuinely interest like IR gameplay options and full play on the controller itself.

But as Opiate said, there is no magical aura around a console or even brand that forever defines what it is. People seem to think there are only two kinds of set top game box: LOL KIDDY TOY and HARDCORE COME AT ME BROWARE. It's like it is breaking brains wide open, the notion that this thing is actually trying to do everything, and there is a possibility it might actually succeed.

Absolutely brilliant post

And i agree with you 100%

This is the very definition of a System seller. I've pre-ordered a WiiU moments after hearing about this.

Yep, I knew I would eventually buy it but after hearing this I am back on the hype train.

Wasn't Bayo developed by P* only for the 360 & then Sega outsourced a port to the PS3?

been doing that since middle school. Parents never bought me any game and system I wanted ever since then.

Why is it puzzling? If the only game on WiiU you want is Bayo 2, why would it be puzzling people don't want to buy a console just for it?
