I've never seen a Nintendo fan say "we don't need watchdogs" or imply that it looks bad -- you are so shit at this VJC...

Wii-U could definitely do with a version of Watch_Dogs. I hope it gets it. If it doesn't get it though, I doubt you'll witness as much crying as you've seen in this thread.

This is kind absurd to me. Ninja Gaiden 3, I guess, maybe. But Batman AC? You decided to wait a year, for a version another team are slapping some uPad stuff into?

Yep. But I've always been like this with games that are coming out late gen on one console with updates on a new console.

The ports of Tony Hawk on Dreamcast that were from another team were better than the PSX versions as well.

I bought Arkham Asylum, Sega All-Stars Racing, Ninja Gaiden II, Darksiders, and Bayonetta all for Xbox 360. I'm buying all of their sequels on Wii U.

Some people want the best* (or only) version of the sequels regardless of platform. So no, not "ANYONE".

*No PC jokes please, my PC is crap D:

i didn't think i had to preface my statement with systems they currently own..but yeah.

There are a lot of factors to consider even if you're a fan: cost, space/connections for a new unit, etc. It's not quite as simple as if you're a fan, you'll buy it.

Sure, no doubt...but he outright said he would not consider the Wii U...

I like MGS and I didn't get a PS3 for MGS4 till lower price+a few exclusives came out.

That being said I buy all the consoles eventually...so I guess I'm not really picky or loyal.

"Hey this game looks kind of interesting."

(he causes a car crash or something)

"Oh that was kind of neat I guess."

(turns into GENERIC EXPLOSIONS THIRD PERSON SHOOTAN)

"Oh. It's just like every other game."

I don't get excited over games that resemble every other game on the market.

Now that is a truly reductive argument.

why do they have to be "critics", its just not some peoples thing, i'm in that boat, there's not a single nintendo IP that interests me, so why would i get a console who's first party , the cream of its crop, i won't even indulge in?
ANYONE would want to play the sequel to the game they first got on their system..on that same system, why can't you comprehend this?

Because it seems pretty clear that without Nintendo this game wouldn't exist, so unless people would rather no Bayo 2 at all it seems to be an odd thing to complain about.

Isn't it?

I love this shit.

I can't wait for next E3, shit is going to kick off.

The salt water is fermenting.

Thread is losing its hilariousness. Becoming embarrassing.

Just give it a few more pages. It's just like that scene where Sideshow Bob steps on 10+ rakes. It's funny, stops being funny, and then gets funny again.

The Dreamcast was hugely better than the PS1 though.

A whole bunch of.... unspecific.... people... that he cant.... recall, at.... just this moment.... but rest assured! All doze Ninty fans said it bro!

I DO remember some of the spin jobs in the NintendoGAF chat around E3 about how overrated Watch.Dogs was, and that it looked like a tech demo for another GTA game.

But that doesn't change my point at all. It's a dumbass generalization to counter a dumbass generalization, using large blanket statements to cover a swath of different users with different thoughts and ideas about the Wii-U, as if they were all one giant GAF hivemind.

People are upset that it's exclusive to a console that they have zero faith will have any sort of legs which is a precedent set by Gamecube and Wii. They don't want to buy a system they have no faith in and so there's a wide spectrum of disgruntlement. It's no less hyperbolic than going from suicide watch in regards to the Wii U price to orgasmic ecstasy at the announcement of Bayonetta. It's a pretty insane thread all things considered.

wth man, not everyone has it like that (i don't, but even if i did, i'd be in no hurry on account of just one game) there's people saving to be able to buy one next gen console, as an escape, as a way to enjoy the times they aren't working long hours to make ends meet, suggesting 300+ for a game, especially in this economy make me think you are oblivious to the reality a lot of people face.

How do yall both know it won't have any legs?

The damn thing isn't even out yet and if anything this whole thing shows Nintendo gets it or is trying to get it.

In the end, no one is asking you to buy it for one game. That's silly. But at the same time you can wait and see if there are more games that you also want to play in the future

then you can buy it and this game (for cheaper most likely) AND the other games you want too. Games don't go away that fast. You don't need to Day 1 everything.

And if the fact tha tyou hate Nintendo games is enough to keep you from buying the system (it's legit) then don;t buy the system.

Tough Titty that a game you did want is on a system you don't want but hey that's life.

Do you expect him to go search months old threads with thousands of posts for direct sources to these quotes? You're refuting his strawman with a strawman of your own.

If he is going to make an broad generalization across the entire thread? Your goddamn right I expect him to be basing it on concrete actual cases, and not just bullshit. My position isn't a strawman, its a request for something to ground his claim.

There is one large thread for the announcement of Watchdogs, and a couple of satellite threads. GAF search works now, so stop pretending like he cant do it. If he has people in mind that acted that way, he needs to address them directly, this ain't Gamefaqs. The sweeping generalizations are shitty and ridiculous. Trust me, if he has folks to call out for doing that, Ill enjoy watching them get exposed for it.

I just sit here to read Opiate's posts. He seems like a nice, reasonable guy to talk with. Depressingly realistic, I might add.

It's incredible to me that there are Bayonetta fans who couldn't care less about The Wonderful 101. There are people in this thread claiming that it's not worth buying a system for ONE game while completely ignoring the fact that another Platinum/Kamiya production exists. You know one of the main reasons Bayonetta is so good is because of Kamiya, right? You do know he is directing The Wonderful 101? How could you not be excited for that game too?

Steven Spielberg directed War Horse.

I actually am not interested at all in Watch Dogs but would never say "who needs that on their console." It looks objectively good for what it is and I don't recall many people saying the contrary.

The Watch Dogs bit doesn't really matter and focusing on that doesn't change that he has a point.

Well, disregarding Watch Dogs specifically (which is what I meant to imply), where are "Nintendo fanboys" constantly pointing their fingers at third party game X and Y and saying "it doesn't look that good, Nintendo doesn't need third party games to succeed"?

I really want to know if these comments exist, I just haven't seen them.

Hey guys, if you need more than one game to justify your console purchase, you might want to check out this game. It looks pretty cool, and that Hideki dude is working on it.

Guys?...
:(

Since it was canceled by Sega for a while, I wonder if the game wouldn't have happened without Nintendo. Good move on their part, regardless. One of the few games I'll buy Day 1.

Nintendo critics: I'm tired of Mario and Zelda, give us some original IPs and better 3rd party support.

Nintendo: Look, we got Bayonetta 2.

Nintendo critics: Noooo! I want to play it on my system choice!

Nintendo fanboys: We don't need games like Watch_Dogs, it doesn't even look that good. 3rd party support like that isn't needed for Nintendo to succeed

Nintendo: Look, we got Bayonetta 2.

Nintendo fanboys: OMG MEGATON THE TEARS SO DELICIOUS GOTTA BUY A WII-U BODY IS REGGIE

Apparently people can't simply enjoy games. Everyone must pick sides!

"Megatons" like these bring out the worst of NeoGAF. You guys should be ashamed... But experience has told me you think shit like this is acceptable, despite criticizing GameFAQs and /v/ all the time.

Oh, well.

I think the number of replies is a clear indication of how many people care about it compared to Bayonetta.

This is an interesting turn of events.

I didn't think I'd need to buy a Wii U due to a lack of compelling content, and since the Wii turned out to be a colossal waste of money I was hoping I wouldn't be tempted. I don't care for Nintendo's products; they tend to be designed for different demographics, and I feel like my tastes have been a tertiary concern to them as a company since the GameCube days. But hopefully the Wii U's library will be less like the Wii and more like the N64 or GameCube. I can't imagine its library will be as attractive to me as those of Sony or Microsoft's next systems, but I'd love to see another Nintendo console that boasts a handful of phenomenal titles so good that they more than justify my ownership of the system.

I'll wait to see how Bayonetta 2 turns out before I consider cautiously dropping the coin on a Wii U, but this is an excellent first step if Nintendo truly wants to broaden its appeal.

can we at least wait till the Wiiu is out till we start sending it to the grave. there are some good 3rd party games. at leas tit is not like the desert the vita has

And the Wii U is a little better than PS360. I don't care HOW much better it is, but if I'm buying the games anyway I may as well get the best, right?

Of course I've always been platform agnostic so I can understand why people who only roll with one console wouldn't be into this.

New gen coming up. Shit's gonna get REEEEEAL good.

I thought for a bit that perhaps there wasn't enough fire left in the console game to have another cycle of this nonsense. Console industry is ..... lets say its going through a bit of a interesting evolution lately.

I was clearly wrong, there's going to be blood, and lots of it. Just like the old days.

What? A rational and well explained viewpoint?! Off with his head!
