Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 confirmed for Wii U

Still giving the 'FULL HD' answer... you would think the interviewer would ask "does that mean 1080p?"

EDIT: *1080p 60fps Confirmed*
Source:http://www.slashgear.com/black-ops-ii-wii-u-details-unleashed-13247525/

'Finally, Activision says that the Wii U version is capable of running at 60fps in 1080p, even while playing online. That may not be the case when you’re playing on the TV and also streaming to the GamePad, but at least it’ll run at 60fps most of the time.'

...1080p... 60fps... wiimote pointer aiming without lag... I'm drooling over here. Ever since MP3 and RS2, I wanted an online wiimote shooter running at 60fps... this is going to be amazing.

This wiimote support in CoD revives my foolish hope Wii U will get a Playmaker version of PES, with up to date graphics and physics.

Da faaaak?

The guy sounds pretty ignorant on that subject though...

Ya, for some reason I'm still not believing this. Still sounds like a PR comment that HD = 1080. I guess I can maybe just be pleasantly surprised if it truly is 1080p 60 FPS, but I just don't believe it right now.

We need better footage. It does look pretty clean, from the looks of it... But he just says "HD" in a way that makes me think he has no clue.

I don't think we do. There are just too many Wii U launch games that aren't nearly as graphically demanding that can't even do 1080p at 30fps. The IW engine wizards moved on to Respawn so I'm not expecting any miracles.

Not true, Transformers Prime, Toki Tori 2 and Trine 2 are in 1080p ;)

Who confirmed Wii U UE 3.0 titles at 1080p?

edit:

he game utilizes the power of the Wii U, featuring dazzling visuals in 1080p resolution with authentic character models straight from Polygon Pictures, Inc., the Japanese CG animation studio for the TV show.
Hmm... That's interesting.

double edit:

Wait, that's a 3DS game. I'm thinking of Fall of Cybertron.

upscaled to 1080p. just like 360 version. no way in hell this will be 1080p native.

See me give a shit, it could be 480p for all I care, it could have Wii Graphics,

60 fps online gameplay with Wiimote aiming... this is going to be amazing. Zombies with 60 fps wiimote aiming. The impact of smooth and consistent framerate on IR aiming is ridiculous. You don't really notice slow and choppy framerates with brutish analog controls, but with IR aiming you notice every single missed frame.

I actually also think that 720p will be the native resolution. But even then, 60 fps and Pointer aiming... But if it's indeed 1080p then even better.

Yep, don't get me wrong, I still think it'll be amazing at 60FPS no matter what the resolution is. I'm just stating that I don't believe quite yet that it'll be 1080p. After being a Wii only owner this gen and playing the crap out of all the CoD games, I'm pretty positive all these games I'm going to get will blow me away whether their 720, 1080, or whatever else.

I hope I didn't come across as insulting or anyhting. If so I apologize, but after having played and loved many FPS games on Wii, the prospect of near perfect Wiimote aiming with smooth 60fps (which BLOPS2 will most likely keep at 60) and made by a team who alongside Eurocom did the best implementation of the Wiimote and configurations so far (even including all of Nintendos own efforts) has me very hyped. Add to that that 007 legends by Eurocom is also coming and I'm just ecstatic.

Hell I guess even EA could make me buy BF3 again if they added 64 player support and wiimote aiming. haha as if.

I don't think that people are making a big enough deal about Black Ops II basically solving split screen gaming on the Wii U.

Really hoping that Wiimote support and TV vs tablet multiplayer becomes standard in all multiplayer Wii U games going forward.

The thing is, COD is basically an on-rails shooter. Not saying 1080p is 100% true, just that it would be easier to achieve due to the style of the game.

I think it is great for people who want to play splitscreen competitively, and even for local coop modes it basically could open up whole new ways of playing games.

I think the Metroid Blast Presentation showed this aspect perfectly.

Screen looking being eliminated for 1v1 games is a pretty awesome feature. Not so sure it's worth buying the whole console for this alone, but luckily the launch line up is looking quite appealing.

The games even get Wii ports, so I totally agree here.

There was an article after E3 from a Japanese analyst ("analyst" :lol ) talking about how Wii U was doomed because Activision wasn't supporting the console. You'd be surprised just how incredibly stupid people in the industry can get.

Edit:
And from the outroll reel for the U.S. Conference, it looked like Activision was second to Ubisoft in number of games on the console. :lol

Edit2:
Link to the Japanese analyst article on "no Activision support for Wii U." :lol It was back in April, though.

Holy shit, this has Gamepad/HDTV multiplayer (replaces split-screen) with bots? Just saw it in the WiiU preview, just might make it a killer app for me. My brother and I love playing against bots through LAN play, but most games this generation don't even include the option. This will be amazing.

Regarding the resolution thing, according to DigitalFoundry BO2 360 version runs at 880x720 - which is around 0.6 megapixels. Compare that to HD, 1280x720, which equals 0.9 megapixels. Could be possible on the Wii U, maybe? However, a FullHD resolution at 1920x1080, which equals around 2.1 megapixels certainly seems unrealistic for the Wii U considering the rumored specs. It would have to push almost 4 times as many pixels as the 360 version does.

man, am I gonna have to buy a COD game? the features sound pretty great. 60fps IR is gold on top of "HD" graphics.

The one thing is that personally find the wiimote design a little inadequate for hardcore games that use a lot of buttons. Button placement is not very comfortable, and in intense situations hard to reach quickly.

I would have loved a redesigned wiimote+. More ergonomic, and not serving double duty as a nes controller, with a wireless nunchuk that has a clickable analog stick.

I doubt it, but I wonder if you can use IR but also have the gamepad serving as a HUD/map and some of its other touchscreen uses. Sort of like pikmin. might allievate the lack of good buttons.

I think I'm going to pick this up. I really really like the way I can play with a friend with one using the gamepad and one using the screen. I hope that isn't just for VS multiplayer and it's for ALL multiplayer modes (including playing online).

No info yet on that yet.
That's the only thing holding this game back.

How could there be no info on this so close to release? Its not a good sign that there something positive to show. If there was why wouldn't they be more forthcoming about it?

Regardless of resolution- I don't see how game like CoD:BLOPS 2 can even be a serious consideration on Wii U if the online experience is sub standard and isn't comparable to PS3 and 360. If its anything like Wii then ultimate fail.

1080p would be nuts. I'd be pleasantly surprised if this was native 720p. So much so that I would buy it over the PS3 version.

What about the specs make you say that when we don't know much about the GPU other than the 32mbs of edram and that its a GPGPU.?
