You know what, I shouldn't just complain about that one FMA:B episode, I should actually call out the people who brought it into being. In this case, that would be the storyboarder Iwao Teraoka and the director Shuuji Miyahara. As their ANN profiles reveal, Iwao has spent most of his career working in animation, not storyboarding. Meanwhile Shuuji has only really directed episodes in a handful of shounen titles over the years. Perhaps it isn't surprising that the episode falls completely on it's face.

so I guess we really only saw a very small amount of Sky Raker in the show. Its a pity since she was one of my favorite characters. I dont know why but I tend to really like certain characters in shows that only show up for a very brief time.

It's funny though, when I first saw Sky Raker I though she will be a perfect fit for Taku. Chiyu doesn't deserves anything.

At first I disagreed because Chiyu is pretty cute. but yeah I have seen enough of her betrayals that I am not too fond of her character anymore and I wish Taku would get over her bullshit and hook up with someone else. Particularly Sky Raker. God she was lovely.
fucking wasted opportunity of a character :(

I think that's part of how the industry is moving forward right now. It's hard to tell where it will go in another few years, but I've noticed that while 10 years ago there was a lot of "integration" to so speak, these days there is more aggressive attempts at making full-CG scenes instead.
Then we have things like Hyōka that try to go the 'hard way', to accomplish certain camera movements and angles (one scene that occurs on a bicycle parking lot comes to mind, from episode 17). I think they can "mask" that integration decently enough thanks to appropriate character motion (in 'full animation' and all) and direction. Not everyone can do that depending on the type of show, sure.

Shouldn't you blame the producer or HR who chose those roles for these two individuals?

Zetsuen no Tempest site update. PV3 is in the movies section. Full animation PV with voices, etc. Great action. Kana Hanazawa is confirmed as Aika's voice as well. Key visual got updated too:

Here's a Youtube link for anyone who finds it easier or can't access the site for some reason:

Something else amusing they're doing to promote the show:

Well that looks fantastic, his special ability was pretty amazing.

While it's true that the anime production involves the work of a large number of people working together in a system that doesn't absolve individuals of their responsibilities.

Gotta disagree here. Iwao Teraoka is a pretty solid storyboarder. His experience in animation is a good thing. Storyboarding is important, but even the storyboards with the best intentions can be linked to crappy episodes if the rest of the effort and direction is not there. The main problem with the episode here is how silly everything looks, and how little effort there was in actually making the "epic" scenes feel elaborate and grand, as opposed to silly and bland. I'll say the individual animators and the directives they were given shoulder the majority of the fault here. Miyahara is a scrub though, so you can chew him out for all I care. Lol.

For all I know he could be a solid storyboarder and I'm not saying that experience in animation is a bad thing. However, [FMA:B] - 60 is still a fairly weak episode simply in terms of what's going on with the 'camera'. I've re-watched the sequence in question a number of times so that I could speak about it without sounding like a complete idiot and what really strikes me is how limited all the images are. The camera remains static, the depth of the frame is not used, the lighting doesn't convey the mood effectively, the transitions between shots are non-existent and there's barely any use of low/high angles to demonstrate size or power. It's just a really flat sequence.

Campione! 11

The ultimate Kusanagi Godou x Erica episode was pretty boring.
However Godou in the intermiate space should be good hopefully

i feel that this anime moves way too fast and doesn't pause to deliver on all the "right"moments properly.

EP 11 and we're already covering the 5th novel ... so many things totally ignored in between ARGH

i'll still watch it , but this adaptation is totally flawed

I dont or maybe forgot, but why are all these people trying to be his concubine or whatever, I like it when its on the fighting the gods.

Hagure Yuusha no Estetica 11

Instrumental of Realization is always the best parts of the episodes. Probably the most solid episode since there was no wasted time on fanservice exposed boobs etc, just flashy attacks and cool sword skills.

Many reasons actually
Will spoil the plots parts in case some people haven't started watching this , yet

A campione is a king and as kings , they can do whatever they choose to and their only obligation is to fight rogue gods that are a treat to humanity.. other than that they can do what they want and there are only 7 campione in existence.

It's very beneficial to an organisation to have ties to a campione. Only a few managed to accomplish this ( mostly in europe ) So placing a comcubine will allow an organisation to request things to them very easily ( more easily than if they were complete strangers ) as out of the 7 most of them are incredibly pridefull and do as they wish :
Sasha Dejanstahl Voban
for example was allowed to gather lots of miko and break their minds without any problem nor consequences because he is a campione and Salvatore Doni has no problem to release a powerfull dragon in a city full of civilians when they feel like it.
Erica normally don't accept men , but well
they fought 2 gods together ( the second fight wasn't animated ) in the span of 3 days and they learned to trust each other , so she convinced her organisation to back up the "new" campione aka Godou.
You can say that pridefull as she is , she fell in love with a being higher than herself on some points

Yuri was
scarred to death by voban ( near death experience ) but she realised godou was different , and while she doesn't realised it yet ( in the anime ) , she fell in love too. Her organisation thinks that given godou is the first japanese campione and they are a japanese organisation, they won't say no.( on the contrary ) as they view erica as a ally but not someone they can trust on their own private matters.

Liliana
went to serve godou because of her organisation is opposed to erica's so it was a move to prevent erica organisation to gain too much influence , since neither organisation managed to control Salvatore Doni properly.

And there is plenty of other things in play. Bottom line is that they all fell in love because the MC doesn't abuse his godly powers and because of his pimp skills that he got from his gran father
( his gran father stealth trained him )

well not really...yet
Of course, you may well point out that comparing a TV production to an OVA or movie is inherently unfair and I suppose you're right. However, just because you're working on a TV production doesn't mean that you can get away with having lazy framing, bad pacing and boring cinematography.
If you want to compare it to a TV show, especially another BONES show, the finale of Eureka Seven did a far, far better job of presenting a scene like that on a massive scale, while on a TV budget. RahXephon as well.

But then you can also note just how superior the art and direction is in those finales, compared to the final FMA:B episodes, which feels very run of the mill and really doesn't look or feel any different than any random episode in the series. You don't get the same feeling of a staff pouring their efforts in order to make a finale feel special.

I didn't comment on this earlier, but this is a pretty good PV - the action looks very stylish, the voice acting is good, and Michiru Ooshima's music is as lush and string-heavy as ever. It still doesn't look like a typical Bones show but it looks much better in motion than it did in the shots we saw in the first couple of PVs.

I still think the story makes very little sense from what I've read of the manga, but fingers crossed Ando can pull something decent out of the bag.

The manga really does suck. :(

I'm pretty excited for the anime though. Ando is a great director, and Oshima has a 80+ member strong orchestra recording music for the show apparently.

I was so happy when Moyashimon came back, and now I'm sad again that it's over again. Can't wait for Season 3 in 2017!

I mean never. :(

I feel that criticism is one that you could level against the series as a whole. While there are numerous stand out sequences that I can think off of the top of my head (
Mustang vs Lust, Mustang vs Envy, Bradley vs The Tank etc)
those are really just a series of cool sequences sprinkled rather thinly across a 64 episode series. So many episodes feel completely 'phoned in', especially when they're going through the material already covered by the earlier series.

[Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood] - Episode 60 Eye of Heaven, Gateway of Earth

Surely I can't be only one who finds this design a little ridiculous?
Father is the 'final boss' of the show, the most powerful adversary that our heroes will ever have to battle. You'd think that he'd look a little more intimating. Instead he looks like a big pregnant man covered in goofy looking eyeballs. His big belly really doesn't help matters. I think he looks really dumb.

It's quite the lame design.

I must say, I don't really approve of all these wavy arms that stick out of the city in this shot I think they just look rather silly and they aren't menacing in the slightest. Finally, I'd like to say that this extreme long-shot of Father is kind of pointless because I can't really see what's going on.

They are more akin to
wavy arm inflatable tubemen than a terrible threat. No sense of weight, no destruction (unless you count people falling down), just a weak "whispering" sound accompanied by silent black spaghetti.
To describe the presence as "underwhelming" would be generous.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Looking at Jexhius' reactions to FMA:B, they really botched it.

Because there still aren't enough idol shows on television, here's the first PV for Sunrise's Love Live! series, coming early next year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X2xQ_ez4fg
Lantis, the music label of the Japanese anime distributor Bandai Visual, began streaming an advance promotional video for the Love Live! anime series on Saturday. The video and the anime's official Twitter account are announcing that the series will premiere early next year on television.

The "school idol project" is set at a school between Tokyo's Akihabara, Kanda, and Jinbochō neighborhoods. The school faces the danger of being "streamlined" out of existence, so nine of its female students decide to become idols to protect their school and boost attendance.
