600k in Japan in December is likely the highest figure. 1-1.5 global for December is supposedly the max right?

Any chane that Wii U may outsell Vita ltd this year? Or maybe sell half of it? I'm still wondering what big IP Sony is going to announce at TGS. Any chance that it's MH, DQ and FF? Is there any big IP that isn't on Nintendos handheld that will likely come to Vita?

Wii U will never sell that much in such a short period of time.

How many wii were sold by the end of 2006? And isn't wii u launching a week later in the year?
I'm not sure when the tracking starts, but it reached ther 1 million mark in its 6th week. Yep, Wii launched 2nd December 2006, while WiiU launched 8th December.

EDIT: Already answered :)

I think Monster Hunter is pretty much done with PlayStation other than a possible port of Frontier. Capcom just doesn't like SONY in the first place. They've been trying to get rid of PS since PS2 time.

Media-Create says 920k, Famitsu says 989k. And yes, Wii launched December 2 but Wii U is launching December 8, so that's an extra week.

Vita will get a holiday bump too, so I don't think Wii U will surpass it until February. Just a guess.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I wouldn't be too sure about that.

I mean, imo Nintendo will prioritize 4 on 3DS in Japan as that's the one version they've been putting their expectations on, so yes, they may eventually release an up-port on Wii U as well, but only if that wasn't to weaken its sales in Japan, that's why MH doesn't go multiplatform in my understanding.

On the other hand, I gather Wii U is most probably going to be a way more viable platform for MH4 in the West than 3DS, so who knows?
Maybe they're releasing 3G in the West on both 3DS and Wii U as a test proof for 4 so as to see how large a MH fanbase is there outside of Japan.

I never said that both versions will be out at the same time - MH4 3DS is Capcoms biggest title for 2013, so they will focus development on this title.

Why wouldnt they like Sony in the first place?

That I don't know. I wrote in another thread:

CAPCOM has been bad to SCE the entire PS3 generation. All the original multi-platform HD games developed by MT engine are inferior versions (Lost Planet 1+2, Resident Evil 5, etc.). Even the exclusives in Japan are just HD remakes (basara, mhp3rd, okami) or games with tiny budgets (MH cat games). Ironically they have sold tons of those games on SCE's systems in Japan.

That I don't know. I wrote in another thread:
I really doubt that the Capcom games for PS3 are deliberately made worse. This has more to do with how well Capcom have optimized their MT Framework engine for PS3.

3rd party exclusive games on consoles is almost a thing of the past too, especially when we're talking about bigger budget games, which almost all Capcom console games are.

Capcom supports those systems where they think they could make money, there isnt anything more deep to it than this.

PS3/Sony fans complaining about Capcom support strikes me as pretty absurd.

I feel extremely confident this is the result of making a traditional PC engine for their HD games as opposed to deep seated Sony hatred.

That I don't know. I wrote in another thread:

If anything, the original platform choices of Resident Evil games beginning with Veronica do a better job of painting that picture than THAT does (note, I am not making that point whatsoever, because I don't believe it for a second)

I don't see vita's holiday bump being anything decent, maybe a 60k-ish biggest week

You can have Capcom support with two things:
1.Selling much better than every other cosole.
2.Give them money.(360 exclusive at the start of the generation, RE4 and more, MH3/MH3G/MH4 with Nintendo)
I think it's pretty normal, it's not really about hating.

But seriously, Capcom picks platforms based on their business goals.

Capcom started out on the Xbox 360 this gen because they wanted to appeal to the West (especially the U.S.) where the Xbox 1 had a notable foothold and the system was out a year earlier.

Monster Hunter moved to the 3DS because it could run the game, offered a low cost environment, and was almost assured to be the most popular handheld in Japan.

Monster Hunter Wii U is on the Wii U because, as a straight port, it's the only platform that can offer the same connectivity ability that MHP3 PS3 and PSP have.

The Vita has no obvious market that is not covered better by an existing platform, so it has almost no Capcom games.

I don't feel this is especially hard to notice. I mean, even follow their marketing plans. Resident Evil 5 and 6 were big third person shooters, so they were primarily marketed on the Xbox 360, while Dragon's Dogma was a singleplayer, Monster Hunter-ish game that they felt would do better in Japan, so they marketed it heavily on PS3. Did they chase after incentives while doing this? Definitely, but I feel the platform choices were made before they went hunting for the incentives.

Say, how were the sales of older Pokemon MD?

maybe already talked about but has anyone some impressions regarding japan's interest on Wii U?

you know, famitsu surveys, preorders, anectodal evidence, what friends in Japan are talking about etc....

is there substantial hype?

would be nice to know.

Considering last week was the first time Nintendo has really even mentioned Wii U and software in Japan, its probably not very much yet.

Generally, I find that is somebody goes out of their way to spell it PlayStation and all-caps SONY, they are probably a Sony fan. Also, perceiving slights against a company that nobody else sees.
Maybe it could be an indication. I guess you mean the things combined, but about the spelling alone, i dont think that this means much. Personally i sometimes use to spell things out in full name to avoid any doubt about what i'm referring to.

Preorders in Japan don't start till 2nd half of October. The surveys are typically junk at best (overwhelmingly positive response for Vita via famitsu and look how that went). There was an incident recently where I believe Inside-Games ran a "will you buy/not buy a WiiU" poll. Results were extremely negative and over 80% of the people said they will not buy. "gaming blogs" posted this news all over the place. Turned out that there were certain people posting strange image links on 2ch, the tail end of these image links would trigger a "will not buy" vote to the aformentioned poll. Most proper 2ch browsers are set to download images automatically, causing an artificial boost in votes.

I always spell it PlayStation (Sony is Sony though for me) and I don't think I'm that much of a Sony-Fan ^^.

Why would Capcom not like Sony? I think what they like is money, this is a competetive era and Sony better be willing to go the extra distance to get big exclusives onto their platforms.

That I don't know. I wrote in another thread:

I think this argument comes from a position of assumed power, i.e. that you believe Sony "deserves" multiplatform versions of all games and that any exclusives which do exist should be on the PS3, which is essentially how it operated in the PS1 and certainly in the PS2 era.

But that isn't the world we live in any longer. In this generation, a home console system which outsold the PS3 2:1 did not get Street Fighter IV, did not get Dragon's Dogma, did not get Lost Planet, did not get RE5, did not get MvC, did not get Devil May Cry, and will not be getting RE6.

Yes, from the perspective of someone who is still living in the PS2 era and expects Sony to get all the games because that's the way it's been for over a decade, Capcom was unkind to Sony this generation. But looking at the situation realistically -- as it actually exists today -- Sony's system got quite an abundance of support from Capcom relative to the performance of the PS3.

Wii had huge supply problems. These figures aren't representative of its dynamic at launch. If Nintendo could ship more they would sell more.

I wonder how potential supply issues will be regarding WiiU. The WiiU is more advance than the Wii (screen on the controller for example), making it more time consuming to produce in comparison, i assume.

When 3rd parties weren't making games for the Wii, it's because they hate Nintendo.

Now that they aren't making games for the Vita, it's because they hate Sony.

Quite simple.
Hehe, good point :)

Although I guess it has two versions...

Red and Blue Rescue Team were paired versions too. Both pairs have sold about 1.5 million, and Sky, as a Platinum-style expansion, sold 400K.

I'd be vaguely surprised if Magnagate doesn't become a million seller in the fullness of time.

Yeah, I mean combined. And it's the all-caps SONY that does it mostly in my view.
