That is probably it. The panorama stuff is something they announced at the iPhone 5 event, and I'm guessing made its way only into the GM.

Will that phone recognize that it needs to update? Right now it says I have the latest software (6.0). Unless the GM is named 6.0.1 or something, I'm curious if I have to do something for it to grab the update.

I actually like the new Maps app, I used it to find a GNC and it was very snappy and accurate. I dont get why everyone seems to hate it but oh well.

Im sure this has been asked before but does passbook just not work yet? It doesnt seem to do anything.
Did you check the transit info for getting to the GNC, and then check it out on Streetview?
That's why people are complaining.
Plus outdated satellite images and a number of other smaller issues.

Depends what you normally do and expect out of Maps.
Fine for you, bad for others.

Are u f'ing kidding me!? How long was this available? Do they have this for iPad too? I always thought the YouTube (along with Maps) were Google created apps.

Mindblown.

Good
The new Siri features (UK) are brilliant.
Shared photo streams are awesome.
The panorama mode works surprisingly well. It's by far the best I've seen.
I like the new store, music and iTunes interface.
Facetime over 3G! Finally!
Helpful new phone options (e.g. reply by text)

Bad
The search interface kinda sucks. Scrolling isn't intuitive.
The coloured banners.
The maps can use some improvements.
The app store keeps crashing and is very slow.

Maps are coming from Google so that's a non issue. There are also plenty of great YouTube alternatives so that's a non issue as well.

Overall I'm very happy.

No and no. I just searched and routed it, then followed the spoken directions. I liked the interface and 3D view much better than the old GPS program I had. Im sure they will get the other stuff sorted soon anyhow.

And you're sure you've done a more recent iCloud backup?

I just did an iCloud restore for the first time. I was surprised by how well it worked.
Took my iPads cloud backup, restored data, then started downloading my apps.

I was under the impression that it kept an auto sync of my checked items. Guess not. Now I'm out of all my contacts.

'Incremental' is the word that springs to mind. I've noticed though that the UI on the clocks app has not been updated and no longer matches the rest of the OS. Considering people have been waxing lyrical about their micrometer precision on the iPhone 5's case, to not even get something as basic as a consistent UI right is pretty glaring.

Yea. At least the navigation is. Not sure to what extent.

Maps have no transit or street view. The satellite looks kinda iffy in some areas too. Nothing serious with Google releasing their own app though.

Yeah my issue with that though is the integration with the OS...I don't suppose there is anything that lets you pick your choice of default map app etc.

Nope. Would be nice but this is Apple.

I would only use google maps for transit data though. Plus there's not much that integrates with the map app anyway. Apple maps is fine for finding addresses I think so don't see what other integration is needed.

Question: If I have Do Not Disturb turned on, will alarms still make a sound?
I believe so. Nothing stops them.

Maps is fine when it works. It's when it doesn't work that it becomes a frustrating and goofy experience. Searching for a POI and not finding the one you're looking for. Searching for a street and not finding the one you're looking for. Asking for directions and being given an inefficient route. Having POIs from a few hundred miles away appearing in your neighbourhood.

Also, still no compatible transit apps for Sydney!

I guess you're right.

Damn, downloaded iOS6 in 5 minutes at work, now I'm home trying to upgrade my iPad and wife's phone and it's saying 9 hours for download.

I am a UK user. Siri is now fantastic and has location based services integrated. Top.

However the Maps need more effort - specifically in relation to Satellite photos. I know it's a new service but they still have catching up to do in that area.

I am going to try out the car navigation tomorrow on the way to work. Overall, excellent update.

Still not sure what Passbook is for. I was hoping it would let me scan in my store cards that have barcodes then would display that barcode on the screen that the register could pick up.

Doesn't seem to be the case. Which is a shame.

Yeah, not really sure I get it.
Downloaded the target app which has passbook, but doesn't seem to do much.

Been trying to download on my phone since 10:30 in the morning and it's still not working. Software update on the device is horrible.

Thats exactly what it is for. But the stores have to support it first.

Something weird happened to my iPhone. I tried updating it, but it crashed. So I had to "recover" the iPhone. During syncing it automatically filled three e-mail adresses in that weren't mine. Can anyone help?

It's also endlessly synchronizing, but I don't know what there's left to synchronize.

Maps needs a lot of work still. I think colours need changing so that its easier to tell at a glance what stuff is. It barely looks like my town is a town because the grey for built up areas is so light. Also they need to seriously improve the data density: it's kind of unacceptable that they'd launch without a city as large and London having building data.

Just as I feared, it became yet another app on my second "Apple apps I don't use but can't delete" page on my iPhone.

All we ask is an iPod nano-like feature where we can hide built-in apps from our Home Screen. That's all we ask, Apple! For now, off to a never visited homescreen page they go. #iOS7wishlist

Do they need a special machine to do it? All I ask is a barcode displayed on my iPhone screen that a normal laser-based register scanner can pick up. People do it already right now with their phone camera and a photograph of the barcode.

I feel like buying a movie ticket on Fandango just to test it out. Am I a sad person?

In preperation for iOS6 I just wanted to check my options. I've only ever had a 4S which started out on iOS5 so I've never upgraded personally but when I tried to upgrade a friend's phone from 4 to 5 it said that I would have to sync the phone or lose everything on it. Is this still the case from iOS5 to 6?

The only PC I connect my phone to is my work laptop. This means that I can't have all my music/apps on there and I don't sync with the laptop - I manage my files manually. Is there any way I can update to iOS6 without losing everything on the phone? Having to start again on my music and videos would be a real pain

Would I also lose all the saves for the games that don't save on the cloud? Is there any way around this to prevent stuff being lost? I can't be the only person in the position that doesn't sync their phone to a device - surely there must be some workaround?

Can anyone help with this now that the thread has slowed down a little or am I boned?

Also, I want to make sure I keep iMAME. If I transfer it to the PC first will that be safe?

The thing is, this kind of stuff happened all the time with Google as well.

I do agree that the transit thing is bad. They should have had partners ready to go for launch. They're just asking for upset customers.

edit: Wow, the new iPhoto seems to have as many new features as all of iOS6. They should just start including it within the OS. Is the $5 a pop really adding much to their bottom line?
