Giants are 6-0 without Nicks, while Nicks is a huge loss, I have this gut feeling they will come out flat...
I actually have a good feeling coming into this game which is odd. I don't generally feel good coming into any game but this is just type of adversity laden scenario this team seems to strive on. We beat the Pats last year with no Nicks, Bradshaw and missing an offensive lineman. It's the road opener for a team that plays better on the road. I'll never say anything is a lock, but I feel good going into this.

The Wii U just doesn't excite me in the slightest. I give Nintendo credit for hiring third parties to make new IPs for the system. Mostly because they rarely do anything innovative with their more popular series, like 2D Mario. ZombiU would excite me if I hadn't played a billion other zombie games in the last three years.

What was the last popular established series that innovated?

If you don't like 2D Mario, just say so.

Random observation: Every QB in the NFC West is mediocre (or worse) and every head coach is good (or great). Also, every team is at worst competitive. Does this division make the argument that coaching is as important as quarterback play?

Who would you rather have: a great coach or great quarterback

Whiz isn't that good. Their GM has invested heavily in the defense and WR and not the offensive line, and they reflect that. I'm still not convinced they won't lose 10 games

Cheatin' Pete is just okay and Wilson will end up as MVP

Harbs is the the next Bill Walsh and, if you erase all pre-Harbs stuff, Alex is performing as an elite QB

i kno that feel

Bill Walsh? That's some absurdly high praise for a guy in his second season.

So more than half of the head coaches in the league over the next 20 years will come from his staff?

squicken has been hurling superlatives all over this year. Luck, Wilson, Harbs, etc are all the greatest players/coaches of the century, still in the infancy of their careers.

The definition of "to squicken" needs to be updated to include this as well.

I didn't see enough of Wilson for that opinion to be my own. I'm just going with everyone else to seem smart. Harbs and Luck though I've seen and believe

Being part of console launch is a lot of fun, especially if you are part of a game forum or have friends getting it. I think the most exciting launch (not best console) was probably the DC, at least in recent memory. Man that thing made the internet explode. Not to mention it had a lot of good games and some really innovative ones (NBA2k).
I remember playing NFL2k on the DC at my house with a friend and marveling at how amazing the graphics were. My dad even walked into the room and asked what game we were watching (in his defense he was pretty far away from the TV) which we of course thought was the coolest thing ever.

I remember firing up Soul Calibur for the first time. I haven't had that feeling of excitement from a console in a long time. The only thing that has come close is the first game of golf I played on my launch Wii at 2 in the morning. That was pretty cool.

Ha oh man Greg Lewis. He was on the Eagles seemingly forever and always I read about how in training camp he looks amazing, can't drop a pass even if he wants to, and he always made the team. Then he would produce nothing on the field. Those were the days. It was bad enough we had guys like Pinkston, Fred Ex, and Thrash but Greg Lewis was always there too.

Then one season when we went into week 1 with no PR, Reid had the brilliant idea of sticking Greg Lewis as our PR. First game of the season, against the Packers, he muffed two punts. He also had a huge drop in the NFCCG against the Cards in 08-09.

Fuck Greg Lewis.

To be fair, he did catch what could have been a game-changing TD in the Super Bowl, if Reid and McNabb didn't completely suck at running a 2-minute offense. But yeah, his career was otherwise pretty forgettable. Is he still in the league? Why are we talking about him? I'm confused.

I mentioned that the Vikings were going to pull off a bullshit win against the 49ers. Then I got a response saying to resign Greg Lewis. Then I joked about how goofy he always seemed.

Which lead to the current discussion.

You mean "migraines"

I'm sure this will be his last season in Minny anyway.

He hasnt had a migraine in forever.

Also he will most assuredly get paid this year. He knows that.

Also from all of the interviews he has done on KFAN it is pretty apparent his spat with the ownership wasnt about money.

PWilly is a huge Cowboys fan? Suck it down, FMT! Amurricuh's team!

Of course he would be a Cowboys fan. Most people in markets without an NFL team are. In fact half even half of California are Cowboys fans, did you hear Candlestick Park last year when the Cowboys won? I have no idea how FMT ended up a 9ers fans, instead of Cowboys fan like he should've.

Anyone actually psyched for a system that can't run Half Life 2 has to be a Packers or Niners fan.

Throw in Broncos fans as well. Anyone discounting a system just because it doesn't have a certain amount of horsepower is silly. You can still game on your PC, or MS box, or Sony box, or Nintendo box. Each one has its own distinct experiences. I'll probably buy all of them when they eventually come out.

Maybe it's my advancing years but can someone explain this meme to me or shed light on its source? I've seen it mentioned multiple times and I....don't get it.

Soul Calibur was probably the last time I was truly impressed by graphics technology. We haven't seen a jump like that since and I doubt we ever will again.

Sadly for me, it was LA Noire....

Before that probably Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 on PC.

And then Dreamcast before that!

Nah. But I just don't get the appeal of playing the 10th version of Mario Kart and the 30th version of 2D Mario. Where are the interesting games?

just like all the diablo clones and me-too FPSs? PC is the worst in the regards you are talking about.

I love what he did for the bears. QB is easily the hardest position to find.

Dude single-handedly ruined a decent franchise.

He certainly made a mess. He was given way too much power, and created a terrible culture throughout the whole org. Elway has a lot of power, but delegates it out and is more open. Things have changed considerably, and are back on track now.

I think the most impressed I have ever been with graphics was when I saw the first gears of war on an HD screen at my friends house.

Then later when I played Uncharted 2.

If you relegate yourself to nothing but mainstream releases but for anyone with a half a brain willing to give smaller titles a chance - this an absolutely ridiculous statement. XBLA and PSN and those "indie game services" are a shell compared to the PC market and modding communities and what they bring to the table.
