The BIGGEST meltdowns over game announcements?

I swear there was one dude who had a massive meltdown, but I don't see him. It might have been a guy with a DMC avatar in a Tekken or VF multiplatform thread and I'm getting confused, though.

Also the "MGS4 is inevitably coming to 360" fuzzy memories are so strong.

I've noticed that a lot of people thought the PS3 was much more powerful than the Xbox 360 with those comments like "it will be gimped now" and all those stuff.

The game got delayed even further so the 360 and PS3 versions would release at the same time. The decision to port the game to the 360 came a bit late.

So yeah, some people had genuine reasons to be upset about that.
You're kidding yourself if you think that people were melting down over the game being delayed.

This gen - FFXIII coming to 360. The meltdown was huge and funny. Then it became clear the game would be delayed on PS3 to wait for 360 port to complete. The meltdown got bigger. Then it released and was a rare worse (but perfectly playable) port on 360. The meltdown returned to mock.

Funnily enough I'd say the franchise jumping ship from Nintendo to Sony was the last similar meltdown of similar size. SE clearly know how to produce megaton meltdowns.

FFv13 Wii U exclusive meltdown sounds pretty scary. Perhaps only surpassed by the cancellation of said game and announcement of FF7HD Remake Wii U exclusive.

MH3 FOR WII?!?!?!?!
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!? WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FUCK YOU CAPCOM!!!!!!!

Major thumbs down on Monster Hunter 3 Wii.

Wii might be the biggest selling console right now, but WTF ARE YOU THINKING CAPCOM????

No network infrstructure on Wii means fucking gimped Monster Hunter!!! Totally totally missing the ball here.

*sigh*

Whatever man. It seems no one cares about evolution anymore. Chat function in online MMORPGs like this one is like a must, I dont care if Japan plays with their PSP!

I guess Square-Enix is next. FFXI on Wii, with no chat functions, hurray!!!

dissapointment total about monster hunter wii. they might as well just keep it on handhelds. only things i wanted from a real console MH3 were beautiful graphics and a full fledged online mode. my wii is for new IPs built around wiimote - not sequels with tacked on waggle (unless it's a nintendo game).

No one said it was exclusive, remeber Dynasty Warrios annoucne for the PS3 at that Sony con?than some days they annocuned it for the 360?That how stuff goes, when you announved a game at your con, you dont annoucned it for other systems

I hope to God Monster Hunter 3 is multiplatform and not Wii-exclusive. If it is Wii-exclusive, this could be Capcom's most questionable move since the move 2001 Resident Evil betrayalton. What's next as a consolation for PS3/PSP/360 owners? Gimped Online Monster Hunter Outbreak?!

GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME!!!! I WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT !!!

If it's the real sequel with no Framework Engine version coming, then it's pretty much Street Fighter 4 for cell phones as far as I'm concerned.

I can see why the immediate thought of the controls working would cross people's minds but it's a very short sighted idea. Since the hundreds upon hundreds of times one has to perform those actions in even a single mission, for well over a thousand missions will make the game a complete chore and not even worth playing.

Not to mention the disaster that the multiplayer functionality is sure to be. As a Wii owner, I can't see myself playing the game.

hopefully "Tri" is just some sort of wii-specific branding.

Very disappointed, sorry Wii fans, but the weakest online system getting the sequel of Monster Hunter? I fail to see how you can like the idea (and this game needs HD for improved scale). I didn´t like much the series going to PSP, but I took it a a side project, but this?

I am still hopeful is not exclusive.

Kind of sucks, I was hoping a proper next gen Monster Hunter would make me join the craze, but I guess I'll just wait on the sideline for now.

It is apparently clear some of you don't own a 360 and don't really see how much convenient and streamlined the online play experience is on the 360. It's not even about being a 360 fanboy...excuse me but I also have a Wii. Bitter tears my ass!

It's from a hardware spec/functionality standpoint. Wii loses in all aspects in terms of online play, and that's what I'm saying doesn't make sense. I mean let's say I came up with a game that requires a touchpad and a stylus, but I won't release it on the DS, I'll put it on the PSP and release special touchpad and stylus peripherals for it! Genius huh? To me, that's how ridiculous Monster Hunter 3 going to Wii is like.

Apart from that, it makes sense. Wii is the biggest selling console, so yeah obvious choice.

Ah well....we'll probably never see an easy-to-navigate Monster Hunter ever (it was also shit in PS2 and PSP by the way so I was hoping they'd fix that with a 360 version, but nooooo...).

all the bitching is vindicated.

I expect MH Frontier 2 for PS3/360/PC later in 2008.
I don't think this is anything for PS3 owners to be really upset about, apart from the loss of exclusivity part. I mean, it was a big potential system seller, but PS3 owners will still be getting a MH game in some form, I'm sure.

Holy crap I was going to say MH3 will come to PS3 down the track after the Wii version due to Capcom's stance on being multi-platform this gen, but the removal of the game on the site is not assuring for the PS3. I still think it will come to the PS3 eventually.

I think that if MH3 a Wii excluive, this is a bad decision for the game!

Mh3 is a on-line game and wii it is practically without on-line.

I have both the consoles, but the decisone of MH3 on wii, disturbs to me.

Sigh as a Wii and PS3 (om a few hours) owner I'm REALLY disappointed. I hope that Capcom in their indefinite whoring out wisdom will bring the MH franchise to PS360 too with nice HD graphics and good online support, the series deserves it. I don't see how the Wii version will be able to expand the game at all.

Friend Codes, Voice Support, No DLC, no HD graphics. The Wii brings nothing to the table for the franchise NOTHING.

I'm more excited for Umbrella Chronicles (day one baby) then this. There is no point in bringing this to the Wii.

Is it really too early for N fanboys (who may have never played MH at all) to laugh at Sony fanboys and celebrate on the MHWii "exclusivity" and how great the game will be for Wii (yeah how?)? Capcom never said MH3 was exclusive to PS3, and they never do so for Wii either. Announcing MH for Wii on a Nintendo conference without mentioning other platforms makes perfect sense, but this doesn't eliminate the possibility of going multiplatform later. We actually saw similar cases for other games, such as Dynasty Warrior 6.

Welp first Monster Hunter I'm not gonna buy. No chance in hell that I will ever buy a Wii.

Just because I'm pissed that Monster Hunter is not suitable for Wii makes you ashame? You have alot of to learn around here and about me.

we have a phrase for "going where the money is" and it goes like this:

selling out.

of course nobody expects companies to throw all of their resources at ps3, and i don't see many people here throwing their hate at capcom anyway. just some gamers that are dissapointed that one of their favorite games will never be realized in the forseeable future. it's understandable that gamers would be upset about something like this.

monster hunter 3 is basically no more. we're getting something called monster hunter 3, but it's most likely just going to be MHP2+ (minus portability). monster hunter 3 might as well have been canceled. if the game ends up being great there'll be nothing stopping me from getting it -- i'll just always be thinking of what it could have been.

They sure love to be hypocrites after saying they want to aim for multiplat strategy and then say they want to concentrate on PS3 titles and now this......

High development cost?Don't make me laugh.
Defuser said:
Why can't Capcom just blatantly say they just steering far clear away from Sony instead of saying hypocrite statements and beating around the bush?
Yoboman said:
This is really weak reasoning formaking it a Wii title

"Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunster 3 title," Capcom managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii said. Nintendo has a rich title line-up for children but has few strong titles that can appeal to core game players or adults.

And we know it's using the engine and assets from Monster Hunter 2. It feels like such a cash in
BadlyCookedTurkey said:
Obviously capcom were desperate themselves to make this.

It's a no brainer. Cheap knock off ps2 game with tilt. \o/ Cue shit loads of sales.
Yoboman said:
Ah yes, I forgot, you can only make money with cheap cash-ins now.
Yoboman said:
It's got nothing to do with the platform. I'm pissed off at them for outright saying that they're only changed platforms to avoid higher development costs. It reeks of a cheap cash-in, and them reusing the same assets as MH2 only reaffirms that. If they'd said they really wanted to take advantage of the Wii and were building this like a real sequel based on Wii capabilities, it'd be different
Ynos Yrros said:
What a great joke. I missed the reminder saying that this gen isn't about games being the best they could, t's about them being on the system you like. Instead of a huge seamless level with amazing CGi like graphics (MH team is amazing in that department), amazing AI and physics engines, and more breakable zones, more marks on wyverns, more animations, you're happy with what will most probably be same thing as the PS2 game.

No one should be happy about this news, it's a sad day for all MH fans.
GrayFoxPL said:
Part of me just died.

And my heart hurts a bit.

Seriously. :(((

Sony, you bag of dry bugs. How could you let go of MH????

HOW THE FUCK?!
A_S said:
Yeah, of course it's not just the gfx, i just listed the first thing that is usually noticed. The issue still disturbs me - first DQ IX, now this... What the hell's next? Tekken 7 on wii using the balance board? Nintendo is obstructing progress ffs. If KH III is on the wii, i'm done with video games...
MickeyKnox said:
And another franchise goes down the shitter. Everything that made MH so fun and addictive will by default be completely lost in this version but it's ok, people who've never played or cared for the games will chime in on how perfect this move is and how the "bitter tears" are :lol worthy.*

*disclaimer: I'm probably the biggest MH fan on this board, I already own a Wii and there's no reason at all for me to care about this game.
yurinka said:
I remember the Big 5 of Capcom for the GameCube and the RE Code Veronica exclusive for the Dreamcast (and the Winning Eleven and Katamari exclusives for the X360). Also remember the Capcom 'multiplatform strategy'.

Looks like Capcom won't spend a huge amount of money in the PS3 version until it has a better HW sales (I think they will come with the price drop, Christmas sales and AAA releases like soccer games, MGS, FFXIII or GT). So they will continue with the psp versions and now they will port to the Wii using a improved version of the old PS2 engine (same used in PSP versions).

I readed the sharewatch new and the Capcom press release. The only one who says 'exclusive' is the Sharewatch guy. And they said they switched to Wii, but they didn't said the PS3 version is cancelled, so maybe it's on hold.

And Capcom also says in the press release: "We believe that by bringing the "Monster Hunter" series to multiple platforms, it will help the franchise reach an even greater number of users eager for its unique gameplay."

It's not a graphics issue at all, though a MH with Lost Planet visuals would have been awesome, the visuals in the game have always been more about the art direction. So I don't care what it looks like but I already know exactly what it's going to play like. The games have always been very old school type skill based action games, that require tons of fast and direct input and quick reflexes to complete whatever quest you're on. The fun of the game is derived from the skill based play being extended over hundreds and hundreds of hours grinding to get better gear, that's thousands of quests with each quest requiring hundreds of individual button inputs to string combos together and perform defensive/evasive actions.

It's just one of those things, that even I thought of when I first got the Wii, man it'd be fun swinging the weapons around to do attacks, but the whole thing breaks apart when you really visualize how it would play out. There's only two possible scenarios, it's either going to be Monster Hunter with waggle and be terrible, or it's going to 'not MH' (lock on, completely different damage system, short quests and no grinding in order to make physically playing it not be a complete chore) in which case it's not Monster Hunter so I don't care.

As far as the blowing things out of proportion, what do you expect? The complete obscurity of this series does make my lone rantings seem bitchy but this is like the next and only installment of Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Street Fighter or Soul Calibur being announced as a waggle fest. People would be pissed and rightly so.
PistolGrip said:
But why would I want Square to backtrack and build a downgraded game? If you dont want advancement then buy a PS2 and play FF12..

THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE FEARED. Money being taken away from making an exceptional experience to a cheapened one for a quick buck. This is the reality of the New Gen.
Monojovio said:
yeah, I'm a little late, but wow.

How the hell is anyone going to play this online?
MickeyKnox said:
The people who have been waiting for a real SF4?

I would not give a shit about this if there was a proper version of the game coming out, even better, if it could serve as a more accessible gateway to the series then it'd be a welcome addition. It's not like I don't want the Wii to get an awesome game, it's just that as someone who's been completely nuts about this series since the launch day of the first game, I know that to make this a good/fun game to play on the system it would need to be completely changed, to the point where it would either be a shitty dumbed down version of the game, or a genuinely fun experience that is completely different from what makes it such an enjoyable series for me. And while I would want that "not Monster Hunter" game to be great so I can get more out of my Wii, I still want a proper sequel.
MickeyKnox said:
Here's what you're not seeing.

Monster Hunter 3 is for all intents and purposes, completely canceled, it's never coming. That's the "reality of the situation" for a die hard MH fan.
Xiaoki said:
That about ends Monster Hunter for me.

Bitter tears?

Yes, I'm crying that Monster Hunter will never become nothing more than a cash in now.

I was hoping Capcom would utilize the PS3 to evolve the series and I don't just mean the graphics.
I was hoping for huge seamless levels, advanced AI, advanced physics and an online meeting town that rivals any MMO.

You know why I wanted those things? Because as much I love Monster Hunter I can only play it in it's current form for so long. To the people that have now only developed an interest in this series because it's now on a Nintendo system I will say this: Monster Hunter is repetitive as hell and can get extremely boring. I'm not kidding. I'm feeling it right now on MHF2. I haven't played in the last couple days because I dread jumping into the grind that is rare parts farming. Even a friend of mine that put over a 1000 hours in MH1 won't even think of playing now unless it's multiplayer and even then only certain monsters.

If MH3 turns out to be just another expansion to MH1 from 2004 then count me out no matter what system it's on.

The current McDonalds of gaming wins another exclusive. Can't stand cheap, crap quality food myself but will it sell? I am sure it will. Somehow people still gorge it down. Enjoy your meal.
MickeyKnox said:
Let me break it down for you:

Sony fans who never gave a crap about the game other than as a positive talking point in JP sales threads: "Whatever, this isn't important, Monster Hunter sucks anyway."

Nintendo fans who never gave a crap about the game and still don't give a crap about it other than as a game that sells well in Japan: "OMG THIS IS HUGE NEWS! Nintendo wins console war double confirmed. Monster Hunter is a great franchise and Capcom will truly use the revolutionary motion controls to... uh... what do you do in this game again?"

Die hard Monster Hunter fans, especially NA ones who've been waiting for a new real console MH game since 2005: "This is worse than Parasite Eve 3 and Megaman Legends 3 for cellphones combined."
FootNinja said:
You have got to be fcking joking :\

i wake up and see the game i want more than any game maybe ever on wii only. I wouldn't have minded as much if it was 360 exclusive since i planned on buying one of those but now I'm forced to buy a console i don't want for one game and it wont be the experience i wanted. Graphics wont be what i needed from a next gen monster hunter and the whole friend codes thing will kind of shit on what monster hunter online was.

this has to be a nightmare.

And now they are throwing insults. It must make you feel good to insult a person whom you have never met or seen.

People forget this is Capcom, if the game is a success, they will probably port it to the psp or ps2 or 360 or Ps3 or all of the above.
Thunderbear said:
Why do people keep saying that it's only visuals that are better on Xbox360 and PS3? To me, THAT'S dense. CPU power has _everything_ to do with how much you can do gameplay wise. The Wii has two advantages, the Wiimote and its price and that's it.

I want the Wii to keep it's family oriented games and that whole market, but please leave all the "hardcore" gaming to the other platforms. I don't necessarely care about Monster Hunter, fortunately for me. However, if Capcom announces the next Street Fighter or any of their other franchises that I love for the Wii and exclude the PS3/Xbox360 then that will make me sad.

Nintendo isn't doing so well at the moment because they have a quality product, they are doing so well because they are cheap.

The best part is that the Nintendo fans seem to be more exited about Sonic being in Brawl. xD

The MGO sign up process alone would instantly fail MS certification.
Wondering if they just couldn't release it without MGO. I always wanted it, but I can't justify buying a PS3 over it(I completed it twice so I'm aware of the quality :p ).

How was the GAF reaction when Twilight Princess got a 8.8 from Gamespot? I know GameFAQs went to hell and it was hilarious.

Same thing when SSBB was finally released.
