Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed announced! (360/PS3/Vita/3DS/PC/WiiU)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
We've tried to make them look equally as good. Some consoles do some things better than others, more memory on the Wii U means we have some slightly nicer textures. I'm sure Digital Foundry will have a field day when they get ahold of it!

All versions have Stickers you can earn to put on your license. On 360, PS3 and Vita, these also trigger Achievements/Trophies - but they're also there on the Nintendo platforms too. If you want the full set, you'll need to do the same criteria :p

Oh, Achievements/Trophies in both 3DS and Wii U versions? Cool!

...PLEASE, SHOW US HANDHELD VERSIONS SOON! :(

He never did answer any of the DLC questions that people threw out. Come on sol I know you can say something about DLC like will the game support it or not.

I'd like to buy this on Wii U, but it's very difficult to know exactly what games will be available in europe when the console launches. Most of the retailers and websites are listing many upcoming games, but the availability on day one is unsure.

November 30th, I'll be having some friends at home to try the console and the multiplayer games, and I figure a racing game could be popular...

Looks fine, I hope we get the demo soon. I'm having this ridiculous hope that it could run at 60fps like Mario Kart 7 since it won't have crippling Blast Processing Water like the console versions.

@Totobeni: I think it's been mentioned that the Vita version is a PS360 port, while the 3DS one was built from scratch for 3DS.

Thanks, that look decent enough, and I guess the Vita version will be a port of that so it should be alright too.

The Vita version is a port from the HD versions, while the 3DS version is built from the ground up.

Thing is, the game looks miles better than MK7. I definitely wouldn't expect 60fps.

Anyway, the 3DS game is looking pretty great. I do think it looks a little bit too bright though...

Btw S0L, 8 player online is confirmed for the 3DS version right? Oh, and I'd like to thank you guys for putting some actual effort into the 3DS version. The core of the game definitely seems to be there and graphically it looks pretty great as well. Can wait to sample the game with the demo!

I look forward to more handheld footage :)

Btw, S0L: tell your team you're part of a really talented team. I've never played a bad game from SUMO, and your name alone reads quality in my eyes :)

Hope the Vita version turns out good as I wanna buy both that one and the PS3 version

You hear me Sumo?

I want to give you my monies!

I just got an email from Amazon saying that the release date for this game has been moved to December 18 in the United States. Any truth to this?

http://www.tssznews.com/2012/10/24/amazon-us-claims-1211-delay-for-console-asrt-in-error/

Above is a shot showing the XBOX 360, PS3, and Wii U versions of ASRT’s bonus edition with the December 11th date as of 7:10 PM this evening, Eastern time. No date change has been seen on Amazon’s UK page, and no other retailer is listing the new date for the home console editions.

We have checked in with a source, and it appears this change was made erroneously. The home console versions of ASR Transformed remain on track for mid-November release.

Amazon might have been right. According to a user on Nintendo Everything, a Sega Customer Support had this to say:

Sega Customer Service said:
It was not a screwup on Amazon’s part. As much as we want to release the game, we also want to ensure that it is not rushed and is released in the best possible state. While waiting for an extra month seems unfair, it is only being done in the best interest of those who are purchasing the game.

Hope not. :/

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This was my only other Wii U launch title :(

I'm ok with it if it means when it comes out it is just right.
Waiting an extra month or two is fine if the game feels and looks great.

Rock on, guys.

I wonder if this will mean they'll have enough time now to add some of those cut features from the 360/PS3 version of the game to the Wii U?

I'm all for delays if it means polishing the game. Have to admit in this particular case the wait would sting a bit though... since I'd have one less title for Wii U's launch.

Hmm, this and NSMBU were my launch titles for Wii U.

Might have to replace this game with Ninja Gaiden Unbroken Edition for launch now.

Quality is the best reason to delay a product. I'm just bummed because it was the only retail game I was planning to buy at launch. But I'll have games like Little Inferno to keep me busy.

Edit: Oh, great. Looks like Little Inferno won't be available at launch. Toki Tori 2 is "TBD" also. Um, looks like I'll be playing the packed-in Nintendo Land.

Edit 2: Yay! False alarm! Sonic will be racing on Nov 18 after all (see below).

Hey folks,

The amazon.com dates are not correct and we’re working to fix them. The console versions (360, PS3, and Wii U) are all being released on November 18th.

Wait, former bizarre creations staff is working on this?
Who said that? I know at least one guy from Sumo is from Bizarre (I think he might be a fairly significant guy, too) but more staff from Bizarre are with Playground than Sumo, as is my belief.

Wow, this is great! Is this true?
If the guys from Blur(which was awesome) are working on this, I guess my interest has picqued quite a bit.

Sumo said in an interview that when Bizarre got closed down they got some staff from them, more then one person, but they didnt specify how many, but they also got Gareth Wilson, and hes a lead designer on ASR Transformed.

I posted an interview with him earlier in this topic but here it is again. In part of this interview he talks about how he thought he was going to have to dumb the game down for a kid audience but realized he didn't have to, and talks about how they have built it for themselves instead of children. Good stuff! :D

The game is presented in this bright, kid-friendly way, but much of the content - the characters and the tracks - will appeal mostly to those of us who remember the originals. Who is the game for?

It’s a really fine market to go for. So when I was making PGR, the market was easy to identify, it’s a hardcore sim. I know my audience, it’s men, young men up until mid-30s, who like cars. It’s car porn. It’s being cool in a car.

This is different because we’re trying to do this dual audience because we want to capture the kids, but we also want to capture these hardcore SEGA fans who probably the geekiest of geeks. So you get this weird dichotomy of design, which is fine, it’s ok. What we’ve really worked hard on is, this is a game that we’ve built for ourselves, we’ve not made it for children. You can play it as a child because you can pop it on Easy, but All-Star difficulty is f**king hard. I’ve tuned it like a Platinum medal in PGR. Even I can’t do it very well, it takes me about seven or eight goes to get it right.

So there’s a broad range of difficulties for different types of gamers. the C Class is for casual gamers who don’t play very much, B Class is for most people, A Class is pushing on to become a little bit harder and All-Star Class is f**king hard. Really, really, really hard.

I'm always disappointed when people write off kids games. Super Mario World was a kids game, y’know? But that wasn’t easy and it wasn't crap.

It wasn’t, and what I’ve learned from making this, which is the first proper kids game that I’ve made, is that accessible doesn’t mean easy. It doesn’t mean that. It was something that I tripped up on myself. I came to this project from a hardcore sim and I thought I would have to dumb the handling down and stuff...

But half-way through I realised that I was wrong. So you can drift in this game, it’s not like PGR you don’t spin out or anything like that - but if you drift well you get a boost and if you chain the stunts together you do the barrel rolls. This is a good time attack game. And the moment I knew it was a good time attack game, I knew we were onto something.

I guess they had to go with a sound-alike. And he doesn't... quite... sound alike, sorry.

But I think people will enjoy
"Hey Sonic. What are you doing in a car?"

Edit: Maybe the voice is just for the trailer? The quotes are very specific.

Wish they would give the actual Sega characters good trailers like that. :/

Also, here's to still hoping that ToeJam & Earl make it in since my hopes for Ristar and Vectorman have been crushed. That'd be a good pick to jumpstart the hype again.

It didn't seem like Ralf's car transformed, was just instantly the thing it needed to be :/

I LOVE the transformation because it goes along with the 8-bit aspect of Ralph.

I don't recall it being asked or not... but has Wonder Boy (the first one) been featured in any of the new Sega games? Because I'd love for them to slot him in somewhere.
Love dat music.

In one of they interviews they mentioned that they pushed to get Wonder Boy in one of the other Sega Superstar games but Sega didn't wanna have to deal with the licensing quagmire between it and Westone (Sega owns the "Wonder Boy" license but Westone owns the characters and the games themselves).

To be fair, that was also before the recent Monster World marathon across XBLA/PSN/VC. Hopefully Sega and WestOne patched it up.
