Cool Title :)
Where's the list for all the servers again? I'm more of an East Coast guy so I'll be sticking to East servers

Edit:
Connery seems like a good choice for the West servers as that's what Mr Smedley will be playing on so a lot of outfits/devs will prob follow.

As a Chicagoan, I'll be in Waterson and I'll be fighting for the blue crowd. I've done my time with purple and red, but I'm going to miss my mini-chaingun. I'm curious to see if there will be any dramatic changes from beta to release, like a hike in damage or a complete overhaul for flying vehicle changes. I see at least one big change that hasn't or won't be announced, but I don't know what it will be.

This is why I wanted to keep it to a West server, but yes in the beta most gaffers were East coast, so that may be a better choice

I'd vote for Connery. Some of the smaller TR outfits that we used to run with in PS1 are going for Connery. Helps that the Aussie folks can join in occasionally.

I've always wanted to be inside of Sean Connery.
Sounds good to me.

Framerate was around 30-40 in early beta for me but prior to release, it's been nonstop 60.
It looks better and runs better.

Seriously...just check out the difference between the quality of the character models after a few weeks (Both Ultra Settings):

And people say they havent been doing much optimization. They've got the game running better with better textures, more detailed models, and TONS more people on the server/on screen at one time. Even if you have the same framerate as you did earlier in the beta....the game is still kind of running better because of all of the enhancements.

I'm running a i52500k 8 gig ram and a nvidia ti 560

I'm good for ultra?

Running at 1080p...probably not good at Ultra. You'd probably be in the 30-40fps range or maybe lower because of your CPU. Then again we dont know if there will be any big optimizations in for the release. My 670 held up pretty well at ultra with RenderQuality at 110% (downscaled by 1.1x) at 1080p. Was 60-100fps without much going on and dropped to around 50-60fps range in bigger battles with occasional dips to around 45fps. My CPU is an i7 2600 @ 4.2ghz btw and I got 12GB Ram.

I'd like to add that, for me at least, the motion blur this game utilizes is VERY good and although very subtle, it allows fluctuations from 50-60fps hard to see. Some people dislike Motion Blur, but a friend of mine (who feels sick when playing games with motion blur) can play this and Half-life games without sickness.

Something to think about.

subversus

I've done nothing with my life except eat and fap
the game will be unplayable this week anyway so may be there will be additional optimizations when I jump in.

"We need a gunner!"

I didnt like the PS2 beta, I got in pretty early and lost interest nearly immediately after playing a bit. But Ill give it a shot again at some point just off of the nostalgia from part 1.

Any particular reasoning for that? I didn't play PS1 for long, but in it's current state it's just so much a better evolution of PS1. Early beta was really bad in terms of both the metagame and gameplay though

Looks like all the major East outfits will be on Mattherson. If we're doing east, and that is where most of PS2 Beta GAF was, we might as well go there. I'd like to see all of GAF on a single server this time, so please debate on this here before launch

Are any of those outfits at least as big as the enclave? As a TR player, i dont really want to play on any server with the enclave because they really arent organized, they have tunnel vision and only rely on trying to steamroll. I hate their tactics...they're just a big zerg with 1 guy yelling out locations. As soon as they run onto a competent group of players then they automatically suck. I just dont want to get stuck on a server where they are the only major TR outfit. I also want to play againt more organized outfits.

Wow at the amount of EU outfits.

Wow I didn't see the enclave on there when I first saw the list. Yeah no way I'm playing the same server as them.

AT and TEST are pretty big but not big enough to fend off an Enclave zerg

Yeah, I'm actually surprised that there's no pre-release launcher/ updater available. Considering the old launcher is no longer used, I imagine that the game we get on release MAY be a newer build. I know the devs are working on balance, optimization, and the new continents. Can't wait, though...

I'd honestly rather be on the primary West server (Connery) than the primary East server with all the zerg fest East outfits.

Exactly. The Enclave means I, as a TR, am going elsewhere.

Decisions, decisions. I think it might actually be a lot better if we just wait it out and see how things go after the 1st week before we decide on a server. We have time to try out a couple of different ones to work out what % of us has latency issues and what server feels the best in terms of competitiveness.
This 1st week is going to be rough anyways (server load, bugs, patches...hopefully not though!) so we might as well rotate through a couple of different servers every few days and then decide.

I know that latency/lag comes 1st for me.

Yes, they also have 25 additional servers waiting to be brought online as population demands. Waiting a few days would be fine but not too long as the server transfer process hasn't been detailed yet and people are going to start investing in their characters.

Throughout the beta I played on west servers from Florida with absolutely no latency issues.

I will be giving this a shot. The concept is really awesome, but I couldn't get past the jank I experienced in the beta. It seemed like there were some significant balancing issues in regards to vehicle spawning. If SOE gets the balance right, this will truly be something special. I'm also looking forward to digging into the unlock system a bit more.

Do we have any details on the Steam starter pack, it's price and what it might include? The content registry doesn't have anything.

Vehicle spam was much more controlled in the later parts of the beta...especially with all of the base revamps/replacements. Tank spam has not been a problem at all. People say that there's too much air spam right now.....yes that's KIND of true but only because ppl are too lazy to pull AA maxes for some odd reason. I rarely see any AA maxes when they are the best things to keep the skies clear while on the go. I always pull a max suit when there's 1 annoying aircraft or even when there's 10+ of them and I do a good job of deterring them. Even if i dont kill them, i'm keeping them from completely ruining everybody's day.

Everything is pretty evenly balanced now, there just needs to be a few minor adjustments.

I hope 17 gigs is enough... even though it says 15 required.

The game itself will be around 10gb, but they have a space padding requirement in the launcher (it was 15gb before i believe) for future patches.

What is the name of you outfit, jhriad?

Still need someone to head up the GAF NC outfit

So can I uninstall the Beta files now? Or let those "update" when the time comes?

You will have to download a new launcher tomorrow, it will clean up the old install and start downloading the launch build.

Let me know as I'll be going TR as well and don't want to go solo like I did on an East coast server in the beta.

Will do.

I didnt even know you were playing on the east server! That's where I was.

Just to let everyone know....I'm a team-oriented lonewolfer that tends to latch onto other squads at different bases. I'm more of a tactician in the overall sense. I dont JUST go looking for fights. I tie up lose ends and try to make sure we dont get flanked.
I guess I have a spec ops/mercenary type of playstyle in Planetside 2. I dont really enjoy the play in larger outfits. I dont like steamrolling...but I do tend to have run ins with larger outfit battles. It's cool to just happen upon things rather than always looking for the biggest fights or the most action.

Cosmocratores

With the holiday people will be in and out this week so possible contacts to get in Nukemall, Jaerin(that's me), Teethworms, Morphina, FiestaWagon, and Phlimsy.

I will be out of town for most of the week visiting family but the outfit should be created tomorrow evening (probably around 6:00pm Central)

If you're going to be on Connery you might consider running with us and The Terran Alliance. TTA has a lot of folks with a similar mindset.

EDIT: Is there any way to download the client now? Want to make sure we're up and running as soon as possible.
