So has anybody checked their router to see what http server Nintendo is accessing for Miiverse in order to maybe see if there's an alternate and homespun means of checking those messages before Nintendo themselves make an interface for other platforms?

I want this to happen.

No, the browser will never have flash because unlike many content providers who should have already figured this out, Nintendo thankfully realized Flash is just expensive, high maintenance crap and that Adobe is a terribly stupid company and a waste of time to deal with so they went with HTML5. YouTube already works great in the browser itself anyways, but if you want to visit flash sites that stubbornly stick to flash specific video content then you're out of luck.

Edit: Sorry if that sounded cranky but you should seriously be happy Nintendo gave Adobe/Flash the shaft and went with HTML5. Join us in a future of flexibility and convenience and fully streaming MST3K episodes any time you want 'em:

Even Adobe is transitioning away from Flash to HTML5 with their development tools, so there's no reason for a new device with web browsing functionality to support Flash anymore.

WayForward took out the alternate title screen from Mighty Switch Force in the HD version.

What, a girl in a tank top and black underwear is too much for you?

Shit. I don't have my original Wii, got rid of it long ago. Before doing so I wiped the system data clean in hopes that when I got the WiiU I would be able to re-download all of my VC games. I recall Nintendo saying they would announce a way for use to recover this stuff like Microsoft an Sony lets their users. I have a shit ton of purchased games. I tried going into the Wii EShop but it doesn't show any of my download history. Am I shit out of luck?

If you linked your Wii account to Club Nintendo then you might have a chance. Then give a call to Nintendo...

...I was just at walmart picking up some things, checked out their electronics department for the heck if it, and it just so happens I arrived shortly after their wii-u supply was restocked

I couldn't resist.. I'll be seeing if any of my friends are interested in buying my second deluxe at cost when it gets here, or if not i'll hit up craigslist or something

If you still have your Wal-mart recipt, you can just take it back there.

Yup. There you go.

I still hate Adobe. Late to the party HTML5 friendly Adobe can go piss up a rope while I enjoy this HTML5 browser which is awesome because Nintendo realized Adobe is a crime against humanity and that HTML5 tabbed browsing on a home system is a crunchy BLT of tasty, awesome convenience.

Ok, so update is done, and I have to say that if I had a word to describe this thing it would be something along the lines of "delightful", that Nintendo charm is all over the place. I was pretty down on the system before it came to my doorstep on the basis of all these threads about all the issues the launch has had. All of those doubts pretty much melted away when I saw the rabble of Miis busily rushed on to my screen. I'm having a blast with Nintendoland, NSMBU, and Miiverse.

Can't wait to see how the system develops and I can't wait for some of these features to transition onto my 3DS.

The Hulu Plus app is not so hot. The interface doesn't really capitalize on the touch screen at all, and it has the worst picture quality by far between my other devices that play Hulu. Hope they fix it.

Gotta say the Hulu Plus app is pretty unintuitive and unexciting. Seems like more a placeholder until they finish the full version. The touch screen isn't really used for browsing or much else, and most of the buttons are just gray rectangles with plain white text on them. At least it's functional I guess. But hopefully a better version will be available in the near future.

Would let Tony Parker sleep with his wife
For those that got Tekken, is it playable with the Wii U controller or should I spend the $50 for a "pro" controller?

I noticed the same thing with Netflix. Worst video quality (when displayed on my TV. Takes forever for it to finally lock into HD resolution and then can't maintain it very long. I was going to try the Hulu Plus month trial, but when I went to the site it only offered a week-long trial instead and they insist on getting your credit card number even for the free trial. No thanks.

Huh, linked my Wii U to Club Nintendo but I'm not getting the survey...what gives

I got my survey, and I got the survey for the NSMBU I was downloading when my Wii U broke. I should do it right now.

"How was the game?"
"I dunno, it broke my system."

Cracked my system open and played a little Mario U. Game looks bee-utiful! Really like the gamepad too and can see me playing lots in the gamepad while wife watches tv. Will play some co-op tomorrow and try out Nintendoland. Feels good to be playing Nintendo games again after skipping Wii. I borrowed a console for Galaxy 1 and 2 though so I got all I needed.

The menus are slow to load sure but nowhere near as bad as the instant reactions around here were. Overall it's a hell of a lot easier to get around than on 360.

Does anyone know if you can install disc based games to an external HD and load games from there instead? Tekken Tag 2 has some slow loading screens and in comparison my 360 installed version just flies, load times are practically non-existent.

The download took less than a hour for me. But you should go to Settings and change when your Wii U turns off(more than a hour if you don't have a fast internet)

Well it's already about half way there. Going pretty quick. People's 5-6 hour horror stories had me a little apprehensive. It said it automatically changed that setting to off for the system update.

It actually plays quite well with the gamepad but I picked up a Pro controller myself and I don't see myself going back. The d-pad is fantastic and the buttons have real nice feedback to them, just the right amount of click to them to do those really fast combos.

I also really prefer the rumble on the Pro, I can barely notice the gamepad's rumble. I'd say it's worth the investment.

the launch day rush with thousands of people downloading at once may have made things worse.. but yeah, 5-6 hour download seems hyperbolic

I just downloaded the firmware update earlier this evening in roughly a half hour.

So I got a deluxe, where do I go to register stuff so I get credit? Is it via the wii u dashboard or a website?

in eShop menu in Wii U. it should ask you for the Club N ID when you first log into it. if not, check other settings in eShop.

Month trial is here: www.hulu.com/plus/wiiu
Still need a CC.

Looks like my deluxe comes in tomorrow! Definitely excited to try it out, just not sure what game or games to pick up?

Definitely pick up NSMBU. Big community and excitement surrounding that game as of now. Some of the world map comments provide a good laugh in between levels. As for others, I would say the Zombi U, COD:BLOPS II, Assassin's Creed III, Scribblenauts, or Sonic racing. Very active communities for all of those titles

Better than Mario Kart IMO. I was pleasantly surprised with how great the game is.

Picked it up on Wii U and never played the first one. Still not sure if I like it more than MK or not, but I definitely think it deserves a spot alongside it... really great game. The items are effective, easy to use, and pretty balanced. And the tracks are amazing. Put in about two hours or so with it so far.

My fiance can't get into it because she hates the flying sections; they came naturally to me though.

Thanks for the information. I wish newegg would ship mine. I might have to just go buy one at full price :(

Fail it 4 times on the easiest difficulty and you can skip it and continue the game.

And SUMO's already fixed the bug on their end and submitted the patch to Sega, who are currently testing the game before pushing it (or submitting it to Nintendo, not sure about that part of the process).

lmao...yeah I am in a new 3 month relationship and she was asking how the Wii U sold (I work retail), told her how it went and talked about it. Thought I was in the clear when she asked if I bought one. She laughed and said, hey that is your hobby so it is good with me. lol.

Does the OS and Miiverse not completely fit on the TV screen for anyone else? It cuts off a little bit off the edges on the TV, but it fits completely on the GamePad.

Hmm, I turned it to just scan instead of 16:9 and it fit it all in.

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
WOA, to those that were discussing the screen not fitting on their TV yesterday...

there actually IS a screen size option hidden on the wii u. I found it under Miiverse, User, Settings/Other, Miiverse Settings, scroll to bottom, its Screen Size and for some reason mine was set larger than my TV so I just moved it down a bit and snap, perfectly fits my tv now without any overscan options.

so weird...

Now, to figure out how to do the 'initial friends list' set up?! what does that even mean, I can't find it anywhere. egads this is confusing system.
