PAL Charts - Week 47, 2012

Wow people are quick here!

Edit: Book of spells has been getting non-stop adverts here...still the same spot though..could be worse I guess. And yeah :/ PSASBR - must be due to people being broke especially after picking up some of the recent big titles..

Yeah, I'm sure it not making the top 40 two weeks in a row is because people are broke.....

Beyond Two Souls will bomba and Last Guardian doesn't exist.
If God of War struggles its a worry.

Nah, I think Beyond Two Souls will do pretty well. Not CoD numbers or anything, but I can see it reaching 1.5-2 million with good marketing.

I really wonder how wonderbook will perform here in germany, sony is really advertising it (at least on channels where the audience is, like nickelodeon) I have seen 2 or 3 different TV spots for that thing, even one by Toys R Us.

We had plenty of wonderbook ads. A lot more than wii u ads in experience.

By we, I mean, here in the uk.

wiiu is more expensive than than the 360 was at launch (£280 vs £300), wiiu is overpriced for what it is, and it seems gamers recognise that

Thank you.

Someone at last mentions the elephant in the room. Wii U is just terrible value for money. Sainsbury's were doing a 160 Gig 360 S for just £160 - and that has a mature library of cheap games and also plays DVD movies. Furthermore, Wii U is currently £50 more expensive in the UK than in Japan and the US - on both models.

With the dire straits the economy is in and so many other entertainment options available, smartphones, tablets, etc etc etc, this thing is just going to get slaughtered in the UK.

For comparative purposes, at UK launch from what I can find:

360 - 70K (December 2005)
PS3 - 165K (March 2007)
Wii - 105K (December 2006)

Why is it more expensive in the UK and how does that compare to the rest of Europe? I know Europe traditionally gets screwed on videogame pricing but being more expensive than 360 seems weird since in the U.S. the Premium is $50 cheaper than the $399 360 launch price.

Everything costs more in the UK than america as prices include tax, take off the tax and its only about £18 more

Its not a guess so much as the upper limit.

Edit: Theres always the possiblity the AC3 number is wrong or represents a single platforms sales, even if that seems less likely.

actually surprised they even had 70k 360s to sell tbh, launch was a mess due to MS prematurely ejecting its load to beat sony, 6 months of MS/foxconn unable to produce them at a decent rate (due to cpu fabrication issues or something if i remmeber right)

wii sold out due to xmas rush

ps3 is only one of the 3 which didnt have supply issues due to them waiting as long as they could to get the parts more affordable

It's an estimate based on an estimate. I think. Let's see if we can firm up numbers for AC and/or NintendoLand later. The 26K thing seems to be a pure guess based on AC doing 53k?

the guy posted the numbers in that thread has access to the number, or so he claimed in the past, check his post history.

Yes, UK 360 launch was a shambles. I'd pre-ordered only a few days after E3 and it couldn't be fulfilled for launch. Luckily I knew the manager at my local Game store and managed to get a cancellation unit, but thousands were disappointed.

NFS:MW vita went up to number 2 in the UK vita charts this week, france AC is beating it. Makes sense though.

Well broke and the previous big hitters just coming out. I'm sure most are waiting till christmas..hopefully sony will step up the ads before then. - I've not seen any as AR said - they want it tho :p

It's full price in stores due to being cross-buy probably.

The worst part was that it was like that for months. Even accessories were impossible to find.

how many bomba exclusives can Sony afford to release? it's getting a bit worrying.

what happens if Beyond: Two Souls, God of War: Ascension and The Last Guardian bomb?
I don't think you have to worry about Last Guardian bombing. The game would actually have to come out for that to happen.

Yeah, that must be it.

In summary, there were 5 Wii U SKU's of titles within the Top 10 and 10 Wii U versions of titles within the Top 40.
That sounds like it's implying 5 Wii U multiformat games made it into the Top 10...but the Individual Chart shoots that one down :/

I highly doubt that. Waiting a couple of months won't magically make the BD drive and Cell any cheaper. They just couldn't make enough for a worldwide launch, most of them went to the US, 200k, Japan got 70k. Sony just ripped out some PS2 parts and sold them for €599.
Europeans had to wait even longer for the PSP, Sonyland blah blah, but they don't give a shit about Europe. Always US first.

yeah, was same worldwide tho, was 6 months at least before any stock actually turned up in meaningful numbers

couple of months? it launched a year after 360, they waited as long as they could for the parts to come down in prize and have decent availablility (think blue diodes etc), and even then when they launched, they were losing HUNDREDS on every console

The other consoles are going to face that too, they are going to be double if not more the price of the current systems. Like you say the economy is in the bin and ios has brought a whole other market to the table. I really worry that this next round of consoles are going to have serious issues sales wise in the uk.

Wii launch only had zelda and wii play cracking the top ten.

On the bright side, it's only a weekend's worth. It most likely sell around 100k at the end of the first week, right?

Isn't 100K the supposed UK Wii U launch stock ?

In France it's 240K. If these datas are true, what does it tell us about the UK market ?

Nothing that we havent known for sometime its fucked, maybe not even saveable to the level it was prior.

Nope that's not how it works. Week 48 closed on Sunday and the new week starts. With releases normally coming out on Fridays, this means you only get 3 days of sales. Sales from today on fall into week 49 and will almost certainly be lower due to lack of availability and the fact that the big rush of preorder sales have been picked up already

Yes, a couple of months, since I was comparing it to the US launch. It has nothing to do with waiting for components to be cheaper. They couldn't afford to wait longer and couldn't afford to launch earlier, since the diodes weren't ready, that doesn't even take into account the games that had to be launched with the console. The Blu-Ray specs were finalized in early 2006 and the first BD player was released in mid 2006. It was never gonna be 2005 for the PS3.

Download sales need to be shown otherwise it looks like UK is becoming a 3rd world country for game sales, that isn't Fifa or COD.

I expected higher Wii U Just Dance sales for some reason.

Anyway, Ubisoft isn't likely to see much of a return on investment with those numbers.
