Your obsession with subpar English football teams is mildly disturbing :p

And to round out this completely relevant post. Just opened my mail. Received a PASS on my final exam to become a fully licensed and registered Architect. No more studying for exams (it's a 7 section exam, each section taking roughly 6 hours) and no more internship hours required. More time for Halo.

Your post consisted of "game stinks" and a link to watch someone doing a speed run of a completely different game. With your obvious enthusiasm for the game, what was your reasoning for creating the next OT other than to troll? Like I said, I get and understand yours and everyone else's dislike of the game, but in my opinion that kind of angst doesn't belong in the OT thread starter and certainly isn't needed as an OT for Halo 4 when it's already such a sensitive topic, not to mention it's completely disrespectful to 343 who has developers involved in the gaf community.

No, it's really not. Yeah I get everyone thinks all the snarky joke posts making fun of the game are hilarious because lots of people are pissed off about Halo 4. I enjoy a lot of those posts, myself. A lot of those posts in my opinion are pretty funny, but not as the OP of an OT community thread. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the game itself, the OP just makes halogaf as a community look like a bunch of immature tools. That's is so hilarious right? I suppose I'm alone in my thinking about this, so I'll let it go.

There's probably some good reasons as to why certain Armor Abilities aren't in most of Campaign Missions like Thruster Pack is only in Ivanhoff Station or Regen Field is nowhere to be found (in my multiple playthroughs). It would change up the repetitive stale formula of combat. Weapons are great but Armor Abilities to add more shenanigans to campaign would've been great. Reach did okay with it but why not for 4? I'd enjoy TP through the last mission dodging knights instead of relying too much on power weapons or maybe team cooperation. Just saying.

Also, does any gaffer know if there's a BioShock OT? Cant find it. Thanks!

Is it all possible for them to just make a Spartan Ops episode that is just Firefight? Like a map that has a defensible location, real (escalating) waves, limited lives, breaks between waves, less than 1 million enemies spawning all at once. I dunno, freakin' scoring?!?!

It seems like they already have all the hooks possible to do just that. But instead it's chaos fiesta firefight in random cramped locations with bazillion random enemies, infinite lives and no stakes. I miss the tension of Firefight. The breaks to collect your breath, reload and get ready for another wave. :(

Any body wanna play some ODST Firefight this weekend?

I'd say the problem with Reach is they often forced you to use the AAs. Doing it sometimes is fun (leapfrogging in Exodus), but other times it felt restrictive. And why wouldn't I use the jet pack to bypass 2/3rds of the enemies at the Spire?

They need to bring back ammo packs like Halo 1 and 2, on a related note. It rewarded players for hanging on to weapons (like the Sniper in Truth and Reconciliation.)

Found the game entirely unplayable last night.

I'm used to my nades coming out of my shoulder half a second late, but last night was ridiculous.

Seems as though now would have been the perfect time to introduce scoring with this league thing. :(

We aren't insulting the people at 343 industries, they're good people. We're criticizing how mediocre the game is.

Wrote up a quick blog trying to mildly express my sentiments on Halo 4.

343i has been peddling the idea that the Halo franchise is in good hands because they are long time fans and love Halo. I’m going to get right to the point here.

I don’t want Halo to be made by those who love it, I want Halo to be made by those who understand it.

I'm just gonna find people to LAN Halo 1 with me because at this point I don't know what to do anymore.

Mildly? Why restrain yourself? Go mental, dude.

I sympathize with the hard work and passion they did but into the game; it has to be brutal. I don't think 343i had ill-intentions when making Halo 4, but after several small details that Halo fans have come to expect a certain standard and a certain feel, and I don't think that feeling was met.

Brutally mild according to yourself.

So the sprint grenade glitch and boltshot reload glitch were fixed?

This kind of makes me sad though. The reason we couldn't have customized button configurations was because that couldn't be properly tested Frankie has said this. Yet they fixed found button glitches this fast?

So, why not just let us have custom configs and then IF we found glitches FIX those?

Huh. You lost me when you described Halo 3 as 'botched plastic surgery', Reach as 'Frankenstein's Bride', and Halo 4 as 'a pile of primordial ooze' (all referring to tits, no less).

Too much hyperbole makes me close the window.

I liked Halo 3. I liked Reach. I like Halo 4. I see problems in ALL those titles - but I also see the good.

There's no good in primordial ooze - you've left no place for the conversation to go.

(Your analogy doesn't even work. Frankenstein's bride was scary looking - but her tits were great.)

Any reason to believe this is going to work this time?
The Matchmaking algorithm is weighted to match players who have DLC with other players who have DLC so if you have the Crimson Map Pack and you enter a regular playlist, you should see the new maps on a regular basis. This is something we can adjust, so if the new maps aren’t appearing as often as we’d like, we’ll continue to tweak the formula.

Seriously, we've heard that with every Halo game, every FPS with DLC maps. I've never seen it work well.

Reach was the first one that could actually do it. But they also didn't weigh it above connection speed.

But Reach was also impacted by Microsoft's terrible job of actually getting people to buy the DLC.

I'd guess that with the Map Pass existing and LE owners getting the maps up front, there might be a larger proportion of DLC-owning players for it to match you with.

But I don't know that I'd count on it working, not yet.

Listening to the end of the latest Halo podcast, where ye discussed the ending of Halo 4.

Trying not to burst out laughing at my desk.

If they bring back Cortana... I will not be happy. Or rather, I will be even less happy.

It seems everyone is okay with everything, so it's not a big deal.

Most of us are here because we loved Halo and expected it to retain the magic that captivated us in the first place. "Good enough" simply isn't good enough for us. I played and loved Halo because it wasn't an "okay" game, but because it was a great one. There are thousands of games out there that have some good and some bad and I don't play them because I don't want to waste my time on a game that isn't great.

Halo had greatness, and then poor decisions and bad design brought it down. I can ignore and forgive a series that started out as "okay" and then tried to make changes and fixes to improve the game. What I can't forgive is endless tinkering on a great game by people who don't understand what made the game great in the first place. Change for the sake of change when you have a masterpiece is unconscionable.

Am I saying there weren't improvements to be made? No, but with each new game they threw the baby out with the bathwater. They changed fundamental, structural components of a great game for who-knows what reason. The soul of Halo was evicerated, and I don't care how hard the people who did it worked or how passionate about it they were; all I care about is that they slowly killed the greatest console game I had ever played.

Threads... serious business.

Eh, I can see both sides of the coin. To Moonman's point the OT for the general Halo community should be about ALL of Halo. Not just one person's hate for Halo 4. I could have seen Kyle doing an OT and putting more emphasis on his favorite Halo, being that this thread is for all of Halo and not just 4. What he did was basically make it look like (to any non-HaloGaf folk that venture here) that we hate all of Halo. Not just that some folks dislike 4. This isn't the Halo 4 OT, but the OP Kyle made is about his hate of 4. The OT is supposed to be a non-biased post that outlines the subject at hand, in this case it's all of Halo. Yet there is little information there, and it's only one person's opinion about Halo 4.

On the other side, it's just the opening post for a huge thread. Discussion will continue. Though the initial post is meant to be the face of the community.

I can see why someone would be upset.
