are people still debating whether or not this is MGS5?

The title with the missing portions of the letters proves it.

What I like to know is if this is MGS5 aka Ground Zeroes or MGS5 the continuity of MGS4 featuring Solid.

Probably the former since the trailer and the images showing similarities to Big Boss point to it.

Why would Kojima release MGS this generation, that's about to end in a few months. I know it will still sell but idk....They should have made it for durango and orbis.

Probably because he wants that colossal userbase of near 100 million console owners while the userbase will be much smaller on the next generation systems, not to mention the game will most likely be more to develop. I am glad it's on current generation because I get to play it sooner rather than later. The game can still come to next generation, but it might as well be MGS6 within a few years of release on the next generation systems.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
lol volgin. hope not, game needs a decent villain.

Volgin, The Sorrow, all these people are dead. What you're seeing are the delusions of Big Boss as he loses his mind and turns into the megalomaniac villain the series then portrays him as. The missing piece is the madness.

I think they are separated games:
MGS Ground Zeroes (PS3, 360) video running in a PC.
MGSV Phantom Pain a.k.a. Project Ogre (PS4, 720) video running in-game pre-alpha stuff.

Since when did big boss lose an arm?

Is that mentioned anywhere before?

Dude is essentially an entire Snatcher by the end of MGS4. Starts wearing a long coat and black leather gloves in his villain stage:

Nowhere.

When was all the stupid garbage that happened in Peace Walker mentioned before? Retconning Kojima gonna retcon. I still think the video is mostly a delusion but I'm not putting it past him.

As I remember Kojima said that GZ was a prequel to MGS5. And Phantom Pain is MGS5.

Huge spoiler warning if you didn't completed all the games:
If I don't mistake his appeareances in the chronology is MGS3-PW-GZ-Phantom Pain-MGS4. And wear globes in MGS4 so he maybe there has a modern hand-shaped prosthesis

Man I've played every mainline entry up to and including 4. He has some fuckin weird stem cell shit going on so he can come back to life to deliver a message and then fucking die again, but I don't remember any of this missing arm shit at all. Is this some PSP exclusive nonsense?

He'll probably lose his arm and go into a coma in Ground Zeroes.

No way is this MGS 5, it goes against Kojima's tradition of releasing direct sequels on next-gen.

Like MGS3, right?

There's no such tradition, and even if there was, I doubt Kojima gives a fuck.

People that are in denial for some reason ITT are a bit annoying.

I'm not even remotely convinced this is MGS5 after all of those HL3 threads I've seen in my years, but I don't get your reasoning here. MGS3 came out on the same console as MGS2, and even if that wasn't an outlier, I seriously doubt Kojima has a stupid rule like "I am only allowed to release mainline games on a next gen console" rather than just deciding what platform each entry will be on as the development constraints dictate.

No, this arm thing is new.

By direct sequels I think he means storywise. So MGS3 might be numbered after 2, but the plot doesn't progress from 2.

I'm not a fan of Big Boss's character, but I could absolutely get behind a game that chronicles his descent into madness.

No matter what light the other games try to put on him, he has always been and will always be a villain in my mind.

Neither does this, it's Big Boss ffs.

So I take it, Ground Zeroes and this are the same game. And it seems the true name of this game is Metal Gear Solid 5. Well if this is true then that is a disappointment. So this ain't a new game announcement just Ground Zeroes again. So all we got new from VGA's this year is Dark Soul's 2.

I really hope so since I want a sequel to MGS4 so bad. I want to play as young Solid again.

EDIT: Ahhh who am I kidding?

I'm not very interested in Big Boss either, but only because he and other MGS3 characters have been FUBAR'd in the PSP games. I wish those games didn't exist. And MGS4 too, for that matter. :p

I can't see how The Phantom Pain and MGS: Ground Zeroes are different games.

I do think, at this point, it's MGS5 though. We'll probably get a few more thinly-veiled "game announcements" with it all culminating in some big E3 reveal this year. Kojima has form for making the trailers as much a part of the themes of his games as the game themselves (see: MGS2), so it wouldn't surprise me if these were just two parts of a grand deception.

I've got to admit, I'm super excited. I haven't been this pumped for an MGS game since MGS3.

Why would Kojima announce another MGS when hes making GZ? PP is GZ.

Well, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy vs. XIII at the same time. ^^

Perhaps the game is split into two games, like the Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons games for Gameboy Color. Would be cool if they come out on the same day. ^^

It was a successive Kojima troll.

No, this arm thing is new.

It simply doesn't take without another huge retcon. I am going to go out on a limb (HA!) and say that the arm thing is part of his hallucination. It is unclear where in BB's life this would take place anyway, as Peace Walker takes place after the coma and he definitely has his arm in that game.

Big Boss is a cyborg by Metal Gear 2, remember. We've already seen one dude have a cruddy robot hand in Peace Walker, so pretty good chance Big Boss's Outer Heaven squad of techies and soldiers could build something better when theyve got a fucking Metal Gear on the go and all other sorts of crazy "out of the time period" tech. Look at that holo-map in the Ground Zeroes, I don't think a robot hand is gonna be much of a challenge!!

These are all sequels after Peace Walker. Ground Zeroes is a direct sequel infact, with MGSV set probably(definitely really) after Ground Zeroes.

Luckily Kojima isn't bogged down by our own mortal concepts such as "continuity" and "coherence".

I think Phantom Pain is a sequel to Ground Zeroes, which if I don't mistake it's placed before MG2. So it may fit.

So Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain aren't the same game.

He said Ground Zeroes is a prologue to MGS 5. He never said it's not Metal Gear Solid V.
