Everyone please read this 100 times and beat it into your brain.

Project Ogre is Ground Zeroes is Phantom Pain is MGS5.

It might be that the game starts as Ground Zeroes and then goes into MGS5 proper which is called "Phantom Pains". Ground Zeroes has been stated by Kojima to be a prologue.

Ground Zeroes is like the Tank in MGS 2 or the virtuous mission in MGS 3.

Yes it is a prologue!

Jeez, it's the same fucking game.

Alright then. So it's safe to assume there are two Snakes in the game and both may or may not be playable?!

Looks like it's just Big Boss. Both in GZ and PP. Remember that Kojima said that Big Boss looked older in the GZ presentation because of the lighting, so the hospital guy could still be Big Boss.

Prosthetic hands are nothing new in the MGS universe.

Kojima did say the GZ is prequel. Who knows ..

You play as a huge flaming whale.

Yeah, it's definitely something like that.

I'm liking what someone said earlier; "Ground Zeroes," and "The Phantom Pain," are the titles of the trailers. MGS5's proper subtitle has yet to be revealed.

Yeah that was me and i really think the final subtitle to MGS 5 will be revealed at E3.

Wow, that was a cool trailer.

But I'm really confused. Surely, they can't be working on both Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain at the same time? Kojima is trolling us again, isn't he?

So by the time this/GZ release it will be at least 5 years since mgs4 was released?
Doesn't seem unreasonable to me that they've been working on two separate games in that amount of time

It isn't unreasonable, especially if you've been tracking what Kojima has been saying closely since the release of MGS4. He's admired the way that Ubisoft is able to turn around Assassin's Creed games so quickly and dislikes that it takes Japanese developers so long to develop their games.

That is why they built Fox Engine in the first place, so that multiple projects could share the same technology, and so that they could have multiple teams working on different games at the same time. The MGS: Peace Walker team was team A, and the Metal Gear Solid: Rising team was team B. The Rising team didn't just disappear, they obviously are working on something.

And you combine that with the fact that KP has been really clear that GZ is not Project Ogre:

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2012/09/03/project-ogre-is-not-metal-gear-solid-ground-zeroes
"While I am happy to know people liked "MGS Ground Zeroes", I'm sick & tired of people keep asking me like "is that project Ogre?" here in Seattle everyday," he wrote.

"Project Ogre is what the project that Ogre appears. Ogre does not appear in "MGS Ground Zeroes" trailer."

It's the best troll.

The plot is probably that you actually play as Joakim, CEO of Moby Dick, and these are all his Phantom Pains and hallucination after failing in video game business and now trying to come up with something successful, METAL GEAR series is born. All of it was a video game in some one's head.

what people will do if something like that really happens? :p

Did people thought that this is how the engine looks on a real 360/PS3 instead of a PC with similar specs?

I hear the word downgrade a lot but what we saw didn't run on a current gen console to begin with...

This forum is unbelievable sometimes. The negative space in the PP logo makes it clear this is MGS5.

For some reason people continue to mock it, even though there isn't another explanation for why the letters have spaces "randomly" cut out of them otherwise.

Finally saw the trailer and... WOW

that looked amazing. My only fear would be that the whole hospital scenario is just a short sequence of the full game. Playing as an amputee seems somehow really intriguing.

Also this:

Is hilarious

I am fine with this, but...hasn't Geoff said that Phantom Pain isn't from anything we've ever seen before?

I guess we could chalk it up to spinning words and hype and whatnot, but that would be lame. But probable.

He is an absolute delight.

- Dip tastes weird
- Drinks are watered down
- Serious downgrade from last year's party
- If Bill wasn't hosting, I probably wouldn't care at all about this party

Imo Ground Zeroes (MGS:GZ) is a game for PS360 that will end with a cliffhanger that will be solved with Phantom Pain (MGS5:pP) a Ps4/X720 game which will end this story. Same arc of events, two different games

Moby Dick Studios lol
That's done in such an amateurish way ... they should've started that website earlier with hiring information, a LinkedIn site, and so on to make it believeable.

I'm starting to think that Ground Zeroes may just be a Tanker chapter of sorts for MGS5.

Pretty much what is at the back of my mind at the moment.

I'm pretty sure it was done this way on purpose to make the facade as breakable as possible. It's meant to be a red herring. If they did too much background, some journalistic entity might just take it at face value and report on the studio being real, Swedish, and new.

It already appears in the logo of this trailer, Metal Gear Solid V : Phantom Pain
wow can you believe konami are making 3 MGS games? Project Ogre, Shadow Dogs and now this? wow they're amazing!
The supposed name of the CEO of the fake developer of this game is Joaquim Mogren. Joaquim = Kojima, Mogren = Ogre
This seems to be Project Ogre.

You play as Virtuous Snake, the fifth (V) Snake who was once a no name soldier who entered in a coma and lost his arm. He has been treated to heavy plastic surgery and Psycho Mantis has been introducing hallucinations and memories that belonged to Big Boss to make him fully believe that he's Big Boss and a real "Snake", the twist is the soldiers from the trailer are MSF soldiers since Big Boss discovered Zero plans and is trying to kill Virtuous Snake.

People need to get it through their heads that this is what the next-gen is going to be like: The same as this gen mechanically and conceptually but with improved shaders, textures and general detail.

i.e. like a PC version of a high-end current gen console property.

The ceiling has pretty much been hit because going beyond is so manpower expensive that its simply not financial viable.

No doubt everything shown in that trailer is scalable downwards, albeit with a loss of visual fidelity. Objectively that teaser was mainly an exercise in showing off Fox engine's high-end lighting and shader tech,, stuff that's really impressive looking but not impactful to the actual gameplay aspect, which frankly was no more ambitious than what Kojipro was doing in the PS2 era.

It probably is just MGS5, after all Kojima wants to kill off snake, and what's a better model for going down in a blaze of madness and glory than Captain Ahab. Lets not forget Ahab pursues his white whale out of vengeance for taking his leg, the phantom pain obviously refers to "ghost" sensations amputees often report feeling from missing limbs.

You know what's up.

Maybe they just changed the name from Ground Zeroes to Phantom Rain. The graphics look the same, definitely the same platform.

Edit: And no, next-gen is not just prettier shaders. It's being able to go into every building in a game like GTA, for example.

Last of Us, Uncharted, Beyond

They all look good but consist of tiny set pieces. Compare that with the ground zeroes trailer or even this one. Also compare the assets of the phantom pain trailer with those from TLoU. They look clearly superior. Not talking shadows here.

I'd prefer Kojima to forget about all this stuff and just make a game about a guy with a war trauma

You know what's up.

It's an extremely accurate prediction of what the next gen (and future gens) are going to look like. Budgets can't climb much higher than the astronomical level they're at, so we're limited to whatever the developers can muster with $20 million in their pockets.

Didn't you see that interview? Kojima even said he doesn't like being called "The Metal Gear Guy." He wants to make new IPs, but the Metal Gear brand name is just too strong. So he's going to incorporate elements and ideas he would have saved for new IPs...and put them under the Metal Gear brandname.

I figured that if this wasn't MGS we'd have some kind of Moby Dick Studio press release by the time I woke up. I'm not seeing one so, YAY new MGS confirmed (as if it wasn't obvious enough).

Also, I love detective GAF.

i like how in the beginning oif the video he says hes been in a coma for a long time and snake/big boss looks pretty skinny/

Big Boss is a cyborg in Metal Gear 2 because Snake wrecked him in Metal Gear 1. Madnar resurrected him.

Just so you know.

Pure speculation:

Yeah. If this is the real BB and not a clone, could be between MG1 and MG2. But it could also be post MGS2, when Big Boss is put back together with body parts from Solidus and Liquid snake.

That would be interesting but he wouldn't be allowed to do so. Konami won't let the dude to work on anything that isn't MG.
Well who knows what project Ogre is going to be.

Oh, didn't know that. And I guess that trailer certainly showed that he's introducing new gameplay ideas.

He should be way older and he dosn't look like he was patched with multiple parts of dead bodies....
