Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

It's actually very straight forward. Make sure you get the LS-40 01. It has the 5 pin adapter making it a direct swap. I don't think any of LS-40s come with an S bracket, so you will need to order that too.

The other thing you should do is make sure you have the lever oriented the right way before you screw it in. IIRC, Seimitsu levers have the 5-pin connector positioned 90 degrees different from the orientation used by the stock equipment in a MadCatz stick. It's easy to figure this out: plug in the connector to the LS-40, then connect the controller to your console. If only one direction works, unplug the connector, turn it over, and then plug it back in. Then just turn the lever in your hand until you find the correct orientation.

Thanks gents.

Got my HBFS-30 buttons! I installed em to my Etokki Omni with the blue Cherry MX microswitches (also got the red ones). I will say this so far... the overall sound is much lower than a Sanwa installed.

are there any tutorials online on how change the art/plexiglass on a Mad Catz TE-s? I want to change my art but I'm too scared to do it without a tutorial =/

Where's a good place to buy Seimitsu buttons from the US?

I prefer to buy form focusattack.com whenever I can, but they have an odd selection of Seimitsu stuff. Only one joystick and only screw-in 24mm buttons. (Huh?) My other go-to supplier is paradisearcadeshop.com, but they're in Hawaii, so shipping times may not be as quick as they would be from the mainland.

Can't wait to go shopping in Tokyo next week.

Arcade stick hunting really puts me at ease.

Do you know of any Shops that sell PS-14-Ds? Both of those only sell clear Seimitsu buttons.

I did just realize that after I made my post. A shortage of some sort? In this case I'd turn to akihabarashop.jp, like StarCreator said. Kind of sucks.

Anybody have nominations for Arcade Stick of the Year 2012?

I've got a shortlist but I'm still waiting for Hello Kitty and one or two of the Wii U sticks to arrive before picking.

Also, in March I wanna run another Arcade Stick contest like I did this year if the stick thread is down for it. Any suggestions on what type of contest to run, how to pick the winner, what stick to put up, etc would be welcome.

My ASOTY 2012 would probably be the HRAP VLX Diamond Edition. It's a thing of beauty.

That is my pick so far. Never did get to use the Edge, not even turn it on, so I don't really know how that one shook out....seems to have faded. Can't think of any other mind-blowing sticks this year (like the mind-blowing MC Namco last). Did kinda like the little Persona stick, for being small, but rather boring. Missed on a lot, though. Kai SE did not even reach the heights of the original EX-SE. I've got high hopes for the little Hori Wii U...but I have not even ordered it. Gundam stick was top-tier too. Diamond and Gundam are my picks so far.

Yep, that's mine. It's seriously gorgeous.

Bummed I wasn't able to finish my Persona 3 stick before the end of the year. Maybe it'll be in the running for Best Custom of 2013! :p

Hori's new HRAP, finally a new case.
Etokki Omni V3, now with the provenance of Evo AND SF25 victories.

ahhh. my sanrio stick came in today!

the pink isnt as bright, saturated as the pics. it's a pretty good shade, not too dull either.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I just went back through the olde thread and this one to find the best custom jobs. In the end I flipped a coin and it came out to be:

shidoshi's Poison stick.

HBFS-30 so far... My quick disconnect adapter falls out pretty easily unless you put some pressure when attaching it but I do not know if it will last. I am glad the new adapter fix will be free of charge. In terms of performance, the red Cherry MX switches do feel good and makes a dampened thud instead of a clack.

Got my Brawl sticks today. LOVE them. I love the compact size, feels perfect. The angled wrist area, the weight....everything feels great. Love the smooth finish too. And for $20 each? Damn good shit Madzatz. Not even sure I'll bother modding these, they feel great already.

Does anyone know how much would it cost to ship it to EU? I know they don't ship overseas, but maybe someone would help if it wasn't much...?

No clue, but shipping in the US is like 10 bucks...so I would think you are looking at at least $15-20...but may still be worth it considering how cheap these things are now.

You'll end up modding them. The MC buttons get annoying with anything more than casual play.

Looking through my spare parts, I was gonna do a quick mod: white ball top, white plungers for the 6 buttons, black plungers for the last two buttons. Though I'm kind of inclined to leave it as is for a while

How's the QANBA Q2?

It's not a bad stick but most people prefer a curved button layout like the Vewlix or Sega ones. The straight layout does recall the American Capcom-style layout and if you add a Sanwa bat top...

Has a good carrying handle and the bottom faux leather is in between a metal bottom or a felt one in terms of stability. It's not multi-console compatible out of the box unfortunately, PS3 only.

I'm looking for some stick art. I put a small request out at SRK but so far haven't gotten any bites yet.

Where would be a good place to ask for that sort of thing? I'm also willing to pay for it, if the quality/design is above the norm.

So I've decided to finally get a stick but am torn between how to go about this.

I fell in love with the Sanrio X Street Fighter one and irrationally want it just because but I need to think of smaller sticks as I don't have a ton of room in my room.

I've kinda been leaning towards the mini Hori PS3 stick (the $40 one) but I know that I can get something a little bit bigger but still cheaper than the Sanrio stick (but not as cute lol).

Any suggestions?

Main game is probably going to be P4U, but I do have SSFIVAE and a couple of other fighting games as well to play.

Thanks.

There is a BIG difference between the mini PS3 and something like the Sanrio Fightstick Pro (also, nothing small about the Sanrio...it is just as big as most of the other full sticks). The mini one really is just a novelty item....might as well go pad or play on something like a Fighting Commander. Why not wait for one of the $100 MC sticks that always seem to go on sale?

I was looking at grabbing their SFXT stick due to the coupon code but not sure I can pull the trigger just yet.

And yeah, I know the Sanrio stick is pretty much a full-sized stick but I guess I just want something with a smaller profile a la mini ps3. Only other stick I have is the Hori Wii one and I like the size on that one.

Either I can't use the USPS site, or the shipping would be about $40. ;_;

But the adapters they changed to last minute are terrible and completely ruin these things.

A-NAf0BCYAElf5d.jpg:large

I thought maybe I was just doing it wrong but then these adapters fall off while you're trying to assemble the stick back together or while you're playing anyway.

These things are a great idea but very poorly executed. I'm really disappointed. =(
