The game's free and comes with two songs and 13 playable characters, the rest is purchased via IAP.
Each song costs 0.99, each song bundle from each numbered FF costs 2.99 and each character costs 1.99 USD.

Now everyone can play back their memories of FINAL FANTASY in an endlessly expansive app: THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY!

THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY, the first music game in the FINAL FANTASY series, has been augmented with more songs and new playable characters to make it easier to dive into and play than ever before! Now it makes its debut as an iOS app that allows for communication with users from around the world in an unlimited adventure!

■With Quest Medleys, every time that you play, it’s a new adventure! New enjoyment to be found in each game!
The iOS version of THEATRHYTHM FINAL FANTASY adds the Quest Medley mode, where you can play through songs you’ve purchased in a rhythmical gauntlet! Each quest is a set made up of a single FMS and a single BMS, and each time that you play, you will find yourself facing different songs, different levels of difficulties, and different rewards for completion—enjoy the thrill of a music game where the sense of adventure never fades! Being able to play on your iOS device by touching anywhere on the screen gives you more freedom as a player, as you operate the game with ease.

Music Stages in the iOS Version
・FMS (Field Music Stage)
Slide across the screen in undulating waves that rise and fall in time to the slower-paced songs in these stages.
・BMS (Battle Music Stage)
Flick and tap to the furious beat to hit the Triggers flowing before each character in these fast-paced songs.

■Leveling up your character hinges on clearing tough songs! What else could you expect from a FINAL FANTASY music game?
Each time that you play through a song, your characters will gain experience. This app makes it easier than ever to enjoy developing your characters, as you simply level them up and the abilities gained by doing so are automatically equipped to your characters to be triggered during the music stages. In addition to the three regular scores of differing levels—the Basic, Expert, and Ultimate scores—you’ll gain a further three Illusive Scores for each song: arrangements of the regular scores with similarly varying levels of difficulty. Collect the shards of these Illusive Scores by clearing Quest Medleys and open up new adventures. Whether you are a novice or an experienced veteran, you’ll be able to find a way to play that fits your level!

■Use Twitter to tell the world about the scores you create yourself and share them with players everywhere!
Players themselves can create their own original scores by trying their hand at the Compose Scores mode! Upload your scores onto the server, or download the scores made by other players around the world—it is the players themselves who make the challenges of this game beyond limit. When you link the app up to your Twitter account, you can Tweet not only about the results of your play but also announce the uploading of your original scores to the server. And who knows—you might even find some scores made by the developers and the creators among the original scores uploaded each day!

Caution:
*When loading the application for the first time, please ensure that you have a stable wireless connection.
*This app may not function properly on the iPhone 4 and the backgrounds in the FMS and BMS will appear as simplified versions.

----------------------
Compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad2, new iPad (3rd generation), iPad (4th generation), and iPad mini. Compatible with iOS 4.3 and later.

The game's out in New Zealand and it'll be coming to other countries as the day goes on, as usual with the App Store.

Chances of Android release?

Though I'll wait for impressions on the gameplay first, I suspect lack of stylus will effect the fast paced directional swipe sequences.

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Any new songs? So Rinoa, Balthier, and Hope are in eh.

What was EMS?

Cutscene rhythms, they play cutscenes with a score.

I'm guessing there will be a new character from each game. Don't know why Hope makes the cut... seems odd. Wonder if there are any new songs.

Judging by the way the description reads it seems actually to be a lesser version of the original. I'll wait for some opinions (by people who played both versions).

The main problem I see with this is your big ol' finger being in the way pretty much the whole time. Certainly can't imagine trying to nail the spinning arrows with your finger in the way.

And Quest Medley sounds as if it's just the Dark Notes with a different name.

So they got rid of all the EMS? Weird. What are they charging and what's the DLC model?

Definitely want to know this. Will be pretty annoyed if they put something like Liberi Fatali on this version. =/

Very curious about this, it was one of the 3DS games I wanted to try the most.

I wonder who the other new characters are.

I'm guessing:

FFI - Matoya
FFIV - Rosa
FFVI - Celes
FFIX - Garnet
FFX - Wakka

How much is the game?

You're in for a blast.

Was mentioning it in the other thread, but Quest Medley are basically renamed Dark Notes only without being able to store them. Shame that it's iOS only, would have gotten it on Android.

Whatever. Without EMS and that second screen, we'll always know which is the superior version.

I'd say no EMS makes this the superior version. Nothing lost with cutting those out.

Symphonica was fine, had directional swipes and they didn't present any unusual challenge beyond tapping. Plus if you've seen what half the other rhythm games throw at you on hard settings, you'd pretty much think there's nothing you can really put on a capacitive touch screen in a rhythm game that is too much.

From what I've seen, there's nothing in this that hasn't been done by another rhythm game, and usually to an even higher degree.

Handhelds, lol. Bow down to your mobile gaming future.
Let's just see how much the inferior version's players end up paying for an equal number of songs in comparison to people who bought 3DS version with a lot of songs for 20-30$.

I want this, except I have two problems.

1) No Wifi at my apartment. Bleh

2) My iPhone's speakers are messed up, they randomly will completely stop working because I spilt soda on my phone once. Given that this game is all about music, this would be a very annoying issue.

But I might bite regardless.

Well obviously you'd want to play this game with headphones so that shouldn't be a problem. And it's not an online game... you can download the songs elsewhere and then play then at your apartment all you want. Those don't seem like serious problems.

Was planning buying this on 3DS, but if it comes at a low price on Android... No tax store... Can buy with my foreign credit card... It CAN be found (I swear I've looked everywhere in Chile for this game, and it isn't available at a reasonable price...)

How much and is there anything missing from the 3DS version?

This might just save me $160.

It seems like they removed EMS, so you'll be missing out Sutekidane (FFX), Theme of Love (FFIV), Home Sweet Home (FFV), Opening Theme (FFI), Rebel Army (FFII), Elia (FFIII), and Waltz for the Moon (FFVIII).

Are you factoring in the costs of buying the 3DS ? Cause my phone is free.

I misread the wifi, I thought it was always needed or something (I'm tired).

Hey, I like EMS, I wish there were more of EMS. It's a shame they don't release more of it through DLC.

Inferior? It runs at like 4x the resolution! It will look significantly sharper :p

And price seems to be inline with 3DS, except if you want to be pickier about what songs you buy, I think you have more control in iOS where you don't pay for a large core set upfront.
