Bravely Default 2 seems to be in the works (?)

So producer Tomoya Asano released a list with 100 fan wishes and suggestions. Fans can vote until Dec 20th which suggestion they would love to see in a sequel.

My Japanese skill is not according to keikaku, so if a JPN-speaking Gaffer would clear things up? :)

Yeah, Asano's been talking about "the next game" since BD sold well those opening weeks. They held a special Nico Live a few weeks back where they basically just asked us (people watching on Nico) what we thought of the game, what we liked, hated, suggestions etc.

This pretty much falls in line with all of that. Another survey.

There's definitely another game coming, but like Asano said on stream, it won't be super soon since they want to make something great.

edit: kinda amusing seeing people begging for something thats obviously coming over sooner or later anyway. Everytime a major title is released in japan and isn't announced for eu/us at the same time, this starts all over agein. It's not like we had to wait for other big titles in the past....
I'd be very surprised if this isn't released or at least announced here by december 2013.

I wasn't interested in the first game, mostly due to the hilarious english, until I learned that the game's writer was the same writer as the amazing Steins;Gate (which also happens to have a bizarre title).

Not that I expect the game to have a billion great twists, it is certainly interesting to me now.

What a sad state of affairs when SE won't release such quality products in other territories. :(

I really, really want to play this game. :( :(

In comparison, why don't we hear anything else about FF Type-0? Not a localization, but a continuation or some sort? I thought the game sold respectably.

If the game doesn't make it over here, I will never give the company another moment of my time or a dollar of my money. So sick of this crap.

I still have hope it can make it here, given the success of that Operation Rainfall movement. Just hoping it gets enough attention and people start trying to raise awareness for it.

It's just a shame we'll probably be getting yet another crappy FF13 spinoff before we'd get something that actually looks genuinely new and interesting.

Well, the survey mentions the 3DS, so unless they just really like getting some laughs when they unveil a phone game, it's probably not moving.
Browsers and phones are what I'm scared of these days when it comes to SE and its modest IPs.

The most true classic Final Fantasy game in years, and Japan trolls us with no US or European release. Please burn SE, please burn.

It's already out, and it's a browser game.
Aaaaand all the interest is suddenly lost.

Watch a trailer?
Thanks for nothing?
I already did it, by the way. That didn't teach me what's supposed to be SO GOOD about it.

No need to be overdefensive, by the way. I wasn't trying to downplay the game at all.
More wondering about what makes it stand out.

Doesn't a sequel improve our chances of seeing the first? If this is gonna be a series they would at least want to test the Western market

Excellent news. Still (after 70 hours) not finished the first one but I'm close now and it's a bloody fantastic game <3

I'm not being defensive, just that if you don't know what exactly what it is, that's your best bet.
It's just an old school styled rpg modrnized, people get excited about that stuff...

From a publisher perspective, did the Operation Rainfall thing really prove anything other than

1) You can offload major marketing costs to grassroots fan movements
2) It probably still won't help that much unless you're a really small publisher

This.

Maybe I should just buy iPhone or iPad Mini, I just want to play your games SE. Seems more likely that iOS will get the first game. Dammit.

Of course this is the most likely scenario what with their storied history of localizing DS and 3DS games straight to iOS without coming out in America and Europe first instead of their usual pattern of a much later lazy port using the original localization as much as possible.
