new Dead Space 3 trailer, game features Kinect voice commands

This Dead Space 3 trailer is an amazing trailer. I'm going to write about its scary moments, cool kills, and how much I dig the main character's internal struggle, but this Dead Space 3 trailer is about more than this. When I watched it for the first time, I sat on the couch with my heart racing and dissected the journey I had just taken. Then, I started my second watch, and when that was done, I jumped into a new game for the third time. Dead Space 3 trailer is just that good.

This actually looks really fun as a game. Too bad it's a Dead Space sequel because this is not what I asked for. Apart from the indoors SP sequences in the beginning, those still look good.

Main complaints:
- lost planet stuff is not scary
- fighting humans is stupid
- coop will probably, as always, damage the SP in some way (resource drain, compromised level design,...)

Man, Dead Space was seriously one of my favorite games, ever. Loved the setting, the no-HUD stuff, everything. So good. I want Dead Space 3, not RE5 IN SPACE.

I'm a big fan of ds1 and I'm enjoying ds2.
I don't get why all the hate. You guys can tell what's the game about and how it plays from that trailer? I sure can't. am I missing something?
kinect voice commands sucks but is optional, and so is co op, so who cares?
The game will probably be shit, but i'm not going to say it is at this moment.

Wait and see, that's how i'm standing.

I'm still so excited for this. I loved Dead Space, Extraction, and Dead Space 2 wholeheartedly, so I got nothing but anticipation for DS3.

I think the word "dudebro" is just thrown around a lot though. DS3 doesn't really give me a "dudebro" vibe. It's about as dudebro as Uncharted is dudebro, I suppose... and Uncharted is not very dudebro.

In fact, I kinda see them on the same level, just in vastly different narrative genres (adventure vs. horror). And I love Uncharted.

Rewatching the trailer. Man, I'm so excited for this.

So, seems like Unitologists will the primary human antagonist, yeah? In comparison to EarthGov in DS2.

It's pretty sad how much worse this series has gotten worse with every entry.

Also really amused that when I asked why PlayStation Move support still hadn't found its way into these titles, despite the team having experience with Move, the PR rep said "well we've already done that with Extraction". Not the same bro...not the same.

Damn, that sucks. Don't know why EA doesn't support the Move. Games like this and Mass Effect are ideal for that controller.

Are you kidding? DS2 was lightyears better than 1 IMO.

Yeah stuffing in set pieces, cheap thrills over atmosphere, multiplayer, and awful dialogue for our main character was really swell. It was barely a horror game, and now this 3rd one looks like garbage.

Can't say I found the multiplayer to have negatively impacted the single player part in any way.

What does multiplayer have to do with anything? Well, other than possibly diverting resources. Also Dead Space didn't have cheap thrills? ಠ_ಠ The first game is much more subdued than the second, but the escalation in action was justifiable. However, the new game looks like it might be taking it too far.

Me neither but they probably had a bigger budget for the second game, it's still extra resources they could have used for the single-player instead of on a tacked on multiplayer mode that's dead in a week. I realize there's always going to be some asshat reviewers docking them points if there's no multiplayer mode as a bullet point on the back of the box though.

Pretty much this. I thought the second game was still OK as a horror game even if they made it a bit more mainstream with more characters and set pieces etc. If they go any further in that direction they really run the risk of being too similar to every other 3rd person shooter.

While the coop elements look very interesting (wasting ammo on what isn't there, or friendly fire), The setting really turns me off after the really awesome setting of the first 2 games (an entire ship, a space station) I guess i was hoping for more urban locales, as they look the most interesting based on the dead space art style

I'm kinda digging the aesthetic of the new setting. The derelict flotilla of ancient ships looks really cool. The abandoned colony on the frozen planet also feels suitably creepy (very Thing-esque).
