JTAG, or something like this. But it can't be used in a modded gametype apparently.
Maybe because of some tests by 343i. I don't know :)

Harvest was one of the first map created, that's why you can find « new » armor abilities and the DMR in it.

Probably was created by CA too.

can this be my avatar?

this is actually pretty cool

Yes.

I still believe that eventually the ranks will be added in-game. I just hope that 343 realizes that when you make a playlist "ranked" there are certain expectations that come along. For example, JiP doesn't make sense in ranked playlists.
I just listened to the Havok episode of the podcast yesterday on the plane, and I gotta disagree with you, and agree with Duncan and Domino's opinions on the ranks and what will happen to them.

I don't see them ever outside of Waypoint, and I see them as 343 giving ranks to the super hardcore fan that cares about, but carefully and deliberately are keeping it out of the actual game because not only do they think that it's unnecessary, but I think they think it's actually detrimental to their vision of matchmaking.
To be honest, I am always shocked when I talk to Halo Fans and they did not know HBO. It is the number one source for Halo stuff.
Wu's awesome, but I honestly never go to HBO, and hadn't heard of it until I started posting in HaloGAF.
Personally I wish Destiny were a next generation title because I fear it will end like Halo 4. Halo 4 does a lot of great in the campaign but you can clearly see, it was limited by the hardware of the 360. At the moment I imagine Destiny as a exploration action game(and please, let it be that one of type game!) and so I expect limitation of the vision.
I have that thought a lot that games lately are maxing out the consoles, and then Rockstar releases new media for GTA V, and I realize that developers (the great ones) can pretty much endlessly find new ways to improve visuals in their games.

That said, if their is a version of Destiny as a launch window Xbox 720 game, I will spring for the new system and get it on that console (hopefully 64 player BF4 as well).

Will approach DLC 2 and 3 will extreme caution now. If there is one good thing about Global Ordnance (there isn't), it's that CA can't load their maps with 116 power weapons now.

I'll say again.
How is that good news?

Their updates of the CE Anniversary maps, questionable weapon placement on Beaver Creek aside, were pretty good. Prisoner and Hang em' High both fantastically benefited from additional routes to high ground.

IIRC, this conflicts with other reports from within Bungie. Nobody knows who turned up the power on that thing and why, but it was a mistake.
Seriously? Best mistake ever then.

The pistol only functions well when the team skill and knowledge is equally distributed among all of the players. Otherwise it becomes a death machine in someone's hands. It's why it's highly lauded in the competitive community and it rightfully should be. It is the easiest, maybe best way, to show greater skill in a player versus player environment. But it breaks down when you get to semi-competitive and casual levels. At Halo's core it needs to have a strong competitive environment, while still fostering and tending for those other types of players. The CE Pistol neglects that last part. 4 and Reach neglected the core. Both situations are bad, but failing to create a solid core will eventually kill the outside.
Sounds like you just described a skill gap. The better player is able to come on top of 1v1 battles with a lot more shields by the H1 magnum being a "death machine". How is that a bad thing for casual players?

Halo 4 is being criticized for being a competitive joke, yet the same people also call the H1 magnum "overpowered".

To those people, please tell me which game has a good balance of skill and this fun-for-casuals thing. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Halo game.

CE made the Blastacular Map Pack for Halo 2, and the Defiant Map Pack for Halo: Reach. That's why.

I'll say again.

I'm not sure anyone should be excited for the the Certain Affinity DLC. Reach DLC was pretty bad...

So their remakes were ok, but the original content left me sour that I had purchased them (and it never came up anyway).

To be fair, all they've done so far is make remakes in most recent times, and Forge maps.

I'm not expecting anything big from them, other than the fact that these maps will be small and likely 'now or never' sort of deal, if they fuck these small maps up, then people are just going to give up on the game, flat out.

Bungie made Epitaph, Rat's Nest, Foundry, Valhalla, Spire, Boneyard, etc.

Do you really want to outsource to Bungie?

Certain Affinity's maps have problems... But typically they're not THAT bad.

Wait.. wait what?

Is this an easter egg? Why Harvest?

Mod.

Harvest was a test map for Halo 4, one of the first, and when they released it as DLC, so much shit was left on, like the two unfinished AAs (Hacker & Teleport) and now modders found the Reach DMR.

I would LOVE to see bungie do something like that. Hell, they could just have them remake their old maps for halo 4 and that would be sexy. Not that I totally hate CA's maps.

urk

butthole fishhooking yes
Actually they do. It was Jason Jones. Apparently he felt it was too weak and coded the game to magnify the pistol's strength a certain percentage over what they entered. Nobody caught that till it was too late and by then it couldn't be fixed. Hence the pistol we got. I just wish I could remember where I heard that. I want to say it was one of the playthroughs of one of the older games on the net with them commentating on it.

Podcast with Griesemer. It wasn't a mistake, but there was some internal disagreement. Jones settled it by making the change in the final hour. It's good to be king, or in this case, Creative Director. ;)

Thank god that's cleared up. I thought that John Howard quote would've been enough to be honest.

So the first map pack ISN'T by CA?

This completely supports my suspicions. My guess is that Certain Affinity was meant to work on Dominion DLC leading up to 4's release, but they actually finished before 343, and as a result they had to switch. Also note how early we had seen Harvest concept art. Given how early we got map descriptions, someone should see if on-disc maps resemble certain DLC descriptions at all. If that's the case it could explain the similar maps; they were describing maps that turned out to be non-DLC, and now they're paying for it by having to live with those descriptions for two maps.

Someone should conduct an anonymous poll to see if people here prefer Reach over Halo 4.

I know it doesn't really mean anything, but it's a very intriguing subject, at least to me. In my personal opinion, I'm not sure which I prefer, but I do know that my patience ran out with 4.
Halo wouldn't be dead, I'll tell you that.

Imagine H1 with a 6 shot pistol.
You still looking for a copy of Reach? The guy that runs the Buy/Sell/Trade thread's looking to sell a copy for $9 shipped.

God no, I ordered CEA.

Halo = Halo 1 = Pistol = Jones

Halo = Jones

And Karl you're wrong about that - Halo 1 was a phenomenal game for both casual and competitive players. Also, what Duji said.

My favorite part about Halo 1 was all the weapons were useful if you figured them out. Even the plasma rifle would slow people down so you could basically shoot it then melee them dead. Games afterwards the plasma rifle was a fucking waste unless dual wielded but still didn't come close to other pairings nor it's useful qualities in h1.

Just make sure he makes Destiny fun! I need a game to feel the void where Halo used to be.
