The casual players might get overwhelmed by all the options the controller offers and their money would be better spent on a cheaper controller without all the options aimed at competitive players.

Kind of like why get a mouse with 16 buttons on the side when you only play Petville (rip in peace). Include that as a caveat to help readers decide if it's something they really need.

The filtering would have made sense if there was tons of content to sift through.

However, they still have slot limits, which means it would have been easier to just fit all 25 slots in the UI on one screen.

What really doesn't make sense is that the filter for type of content is prior to the individual's file share.

If I look up a map you made, and then want to look at a gametype you made, I have to search for you again under the different content type. I can't find a phrase to express how baffling that is.

Thats true but they can just mention that in the review.

Instead it appears they literally took off points cause it aspired to be something more than a casual xbox player controller...ya know. God forbid we get a decent piece of hardware for the xbox.

Also the Xim is 80 so I'm glad I got that instead.

I'd buy some of those Razer stick grips, the rubbers on mine wear out like no one's business. Wouldn't trust the build on another one of their controllers after my friend's had a completely malfunctioning stick on an Onza within a month.

Ironically most of the best mice out there are fairly basic, with a lot of frills like ridiculously high dpi and such being nothing more than marketing gimmicks.

Something I just noticed, somewhat similar to multikills continuing after an instant respawn: If you throw a grenade, die, and the grenade kills someone, you don't get the kill from the grave if you've instant respawned.

Nothing huge, but it made me laugh when it happened to me.

That happened to me once when I got a Hail Mary with a Pulse Grenade on a dude camping with a Binary Rifle in Exile BTB.

I know that's like the antithesis of Halo 4's gameplay, but that's not the point. :lol

Egh. Because I made plans to go to the beach tomorrow with mates, that somehow means that I never want to talk to this girl who keeps messaging me all the time and wants me to spend the day with her.

Women frustrate me so god damn much.

Sounds like this thread when people left to play Blops2 launch week for a bit.

But you will almost always get a "HAIL MARY". I think I've only gotten one that's been a legitimate long bomb stick, all the others have been from insta-spawning.

Maybe she's subtly telling you she wants an invite to the beach.

I've been wanting it since Reach's "Forerunner" aesthetic.

Infinity can simulate anything!:

Still can't believe that they changed that piece from being 2.0 units wide to 2.4.

sigh...

Ok I know many people hate posts about books or canon, but I have to do it lol.

So I've just bought The Thursday War and maybe I have to mention I'm not one of the guys who hate Karen Traviss, eventhough Glasslands wasn't my most liked Halo book.

I admit I only finished the Prologue and the first half of chapter one, but I'm quite surprised by the prologue.
We have Parangosky who gives us a small review what happened in Glasslands or what mattered and what the whole Kilo Five mission is about. Of course Halsey has to be mentioned again and how evil her ideas were...but not ONE mention of the saved Spartans from the Dyson Sphere...
I mean that can't be right, I mean you know that dude, who almost was alone responsible for the win against the Covenant, that Master Chief guy? A Spartan 2 ?
Yeah we now have a bunch of more Spartan 2s back, and a couple of Spartan 3s .. What the fuck how does she think, this doesn't matter. It felt almost as the book didn't want to tell us about this.

Like again, I'm only in the Prologue, they better be mentioned or do action in the book.

And exactly this leads to a rant about Halo 4's campaign, the horrible story pacing, the missed opportunities and their wrong idea what would be good.

The whole idea of Halo 4 is just bad, at least the idea to do it as the first game of the new saga, no build up for people without book knowledge who the fuck the Didact is ( for book veterans it is also confusing how this would fit with the Forerunner Trilogy, why is he so evil and against us?), the Forerunner - Human relationship.. totally rushed, it can't work to explainthis in one cutscene, the cutscene made things only more confusing.

Now imagine all this split into two games, with more missions, more explanation, with more sense ! You could tell they wanted to do more with Halo 4, but theyjust failed to do it.

And back to the saved Spartans, how come they weren't on board of the Infinity, the most important ship of the UNSC. Why are Spartan 4s lead by Palmer instead of Spartan 2s.

Or just in the ending, it would be great if Lasky said "You know Chief, there are some persons who will gonna get crazy when when they see you back"..
Then the same epilogue scene, but instead of nodding to Palmer in the hall there are the Spartan 2s.. standing there and waiting for chief. He stops, they take their helmets of, John also takes his helmet of, right at the second the helmet leaves his head -boom-
Ending.

I would have preferred this. I was very disappointed with Halo 4's campaign, the whole build up for the Didact and then the last mission were a joke.

I really hope the other Spartans are mentioned, and they better won't be killed of 343. Fuck you if you already did and I'm not that far in the book.

After Nylund's excellent build up of the other existing Spartans it was pretty disappointing to have it all ignored in Glasslands.

And yes, I'd love to see any real interaction between MC and the other S2/3s.

Man, I've been playing a lot recently, and have been enjoying the hell out of CTF, Oddball, and Team Regicide. I would enjoy CTF a hell of a lot more if I could drop the flag, if auto pickup were disabled, if there were no waypoints on flag carriers, and if the flag would have a sane reset time on smaller maps, though. But playing with a couple friends who communicate together really ups the fun-factor for me ten-fold, despite my gripes with certain systems in the game. Loving it a lot right now, but regretting picking Pioneer as my 2nd Specialization. My friend has it, and it just doesn't give nearly enough extra. He only averaged around 500 each game, and I would call him a very good player.

I highly recommend trying to play around with the loadouts and try to find a playstyle that is totally not how you would normally play the game. I've been playing the past few days with the Light Rifle main, Pistol or Boltshot secondary, with Hologram, AA Efficiency to spam the Hologram, and Ammo for the Light Rifle and power weapon benefits. Ton of fun. Even more fun to go nuts with Stability, though I don't think the Light Rifle has enough ammo at all at a base level, so I usually pair that with Firepower and a DMR. Last session, I tried a CQC loadout for the slightly smaller maps, which is very opposite of how I usually play. Invis (even though I think it should be removed), Suppressor, Pistol, AA Efficiency, and Dexterity (though I'm going to try with Ammo, since the pistol has nothing). It's disturbingly effective, and equally as fun.

While it's nothing special, going around in a group of three, us all communicating, and doing this:

It's just a lot of fun, even though we lost 2-1 because we didn't get the team mates (damn JiP not even working right...) and that I think the flag is next to impossible to steal from the base on Adrift, but once you do, it's next to impossible to return. We even had the flag, too, but Overtime doesn't come on any more unless it's Tied. :(

I've learned how to not taste the ketchup. Still, at the same time, I'm really hoping for 343 to consider trying out some proper seasoning as an option in the coming weeks/months. The MLG settings are pretty superb, I'd like to see that in MM, along with some others like it.

Also, compare the characters Kat and Palmer, who's the more badass?

Palmer...Kat with her missing arm lose point

I find it baffling that, through Spartan Ops and Palmer's wretched dialog, 343 managed to make Kat the better female character. I don't know what the plans are for Palmer's character, but I hope that the quality of the writing for her takes an enormous turn for the better.

Actually, that should apply to all the dialog of Spartan Ops. I hate to keep pissing on the mode, but it's frustrating as a player to see the potential in something that's not working the way it should.

This sentence works for everything in Halo 4.

I've always loved Noble Team...I never understood why people always shout CHARACTER DEVELOPEMT!@ when "Noble Team" is mentioned, as if they only talked once throughout the game. I feel like each one of them has a different personality.

I have apparently never used the Boltshot to kill someone in multiplayer. (This surprises me, since it's the secondary weapon in at least one loadout. I guess I never use that loadout.)

Waypoint won't give me overall totals (!$##@!@!@$%^$%#) so I guess i have to build them for myself.

CTF 2 of 375 deaths
Slayer 20 of 3461 deaths
Oddball 10 of 524 deaths
KotH 9 of 427 deaths
Extraction 4 of 49 deaths
Dominion 4 of 161 deaths
Regicide 8 of 336 deaths

TOTAL: The Boltshot has killed me 57 times, out of a total of 5333 deaths (Flood is not counted). This means the Boltshot is responsible for a hair over 1% of all deaths I've experienced.

I can live with that. :)

WOW that is dumb. Halo 4's challenges and unlocks are awesome, but Halo Reach's super-long progression system wins.

Hope 343 patches in some more end-game at some point à la Diablo III.

For lack of a better word, Halo 4's multiplayer 'ends' when you hit 130 unless you think it's fun to grind for unlocks.

This is why a skill rank as a leveling ceiling was important in Halo 3.

Honestly the whole multiplayer progression seems incredibly shortsighted.

I've only made one kill with the Boltshot, and died from it 21 times out of 1826 deaths.

But seriously, why is Waypoint still so bad?

I think 'bad' only really applies when comparing it to Bungie.net. There's a lot of stuff it does that I don't like, really... but all of it, judged on its own, is okay - at worst it's mediocre, and it does a lot of things right. When held up against what came before it, though... yeah, it's 'bad'. And that makes me sad. :(

That too.

But they really need to get rid of the slots and just go with total file size limit.

It basically works the same way as achieving Inheritor in Reach. Unless you want to go for 100% commendation completion.
