As of this moment... Lucid Games are independent.

But it is very peculiar for them to be announcing a new racer in the same year the new Xbox or possibly the PS4 launches.

Wait Lucid is independent? heeeeey thought they were contracted with a pub?
Man why don't you just read everything I quoted and everything I wrote? It's right there.

Naw I read it. You still didn't say much other then believing MS has solid rumors and Sony doesn't have much. Even though I already pointed out the VG/AMD thread.

Okay so this seems to be more than or at least equal to the wishes of people here, am I correct?

I know very little about this stuff but based on what I do know this seems like a fucking nuke about to be dropped.

I was personally expecting 16GB of GDDR5 with 2xHD9000 Crossfired with a 16 core quad threaded processor.

So call me unimpressed >:|

Here

Microsoft focusing specific hardware tasks a bit more for OS related items (additional RAM and slightly beefier CPU, mainly), while Sony focusing on a simpler OS but putting more resources into GPU (slightly more power for graphics), but marginally so.

There are no rumors that indicate this is happening. And you can't really point to any.

Make it happen, 720 launch title

There's rumors from certain insiders on this board. Sweetvar saying CPU of 720 was unique and had a larger budget than Sony's. I believe there were murmurs of a 7970 inside a recent ps4 dev kit packaged with an APU with only 4 cores compared to microsoft's 8.

sorry if this was asked before. the thread is too big . assuming this rumor is true. how does this compare to the latest rumors about the PS4 ? which one is more powerful on paper ?

The overall perception has been that they're very similar in power. They may take different paths to getting there, but they're basically going to be the same. A repeat of 360/PS3 and then Wii U way way way behind to the point that it probably won't get many serious looks from the devs working on the newer PS/Xbox. Services and games should, and probably will, differentiate the two.

Maybe you need another "way" or two in your post, hyperbole doesn't come cheap you know.

I have no idea. All we know is that Xbox is rumored to have more RAM.

welp. its 360 vs ps3 all over again

No, I don't think so. Only if it was disingenuous and I can see people having that viewpoint.

There's precious little that appeals to me in Nintendo's latest console, that's for sure.

i do not troll. just because i have a different view on a system than yours doesn't mean i am trolling.

in fact even if you are a hardcore fan of that system, you gotta admit that its a disappointment release so far. with less than equal ports of the 6 years old systems. no excuses

Possibly very similar. Xbox has more RAM (from what we know) but PS4 could be using faster RAM to make up for it.
there was also talk of Sony waiting to see how much RAM Microsoft went with before they locked down an amount.

Sony looks likely to have enough ram to compete with Microsoft. The lower figure suggests that Sony will go with faster GDDR5 Ram. And as far as we know, xbox seems likely to have a Win 08 installation [most likely just Metro] that will eat up resources.

Whoever makes the next PGR it's a safe bet it'll have Forza in it's title..

At Turn 10, our vision is to grow Forza into the top automotive entertainment brand in the world. Come play a key role on our team and help us achieve this ambitious goal.

So, we have:

Forza Motorsport
Forza Horizon
Forza Gotham Racing/Forza Street Racing?

If they are targeting annual releases it would give the devs extra time over just having FM and Horizon. I'm all for it... Plus I miss PGR.

really, I'm putting my money on MS having a seperate arm based dedicated OS unit with its own ram to allow for background services and increased functionality.

Fascinating no one has gotten the joke about the HD8880. A hint: in Chinese culture, 888 siginifies prosperity and in recent years, what youthful parlance would call "awesomeness".

To say the 8880 is tongue in cheek is being too generous to that rumour monger.

Also a way to cover your tracks without completely breaking NDA...

The inclusion of hard-drive detail is still making me doubt the validity of any of this information. Microsoft themselves may have not 100% decided on the exact drive sizes at launch, where it is likely dependent on deals they can make closer to the time. Also, as with 360, RAM is something that can change closer to the final stages. Developers will have a ceiling to work within for launch titles, but the final system may have that ceiling or more.

I wonder if we're all setting ourselves up with disappointment. This is, after all, just another spec rumour.

I would also add do not expect much more than a overclocked GTX 580 for the power of either Durango and Orbis. It the 8800 rumour is true, then it coheres to that fact, since the 8800 is a rebadge of the 7870, which itself is a "clone" of the GTX 580.

And a not that accurate one. Personally, I now have a pretty good final idea whats in Durango, though, by pulling together various known accurate sources.

It wont be a monster, but on the other hand, could be a lot worse and I'm pretty excited.

OEM only.

580 is in the ballpark. Maybe a little less even.

The ps4(APU + GPU) rumor seems to be quite a bit more than that.

I think Durango GPU will be highly customized and thus it will feature exclusive tech that is not present in current GPUs. After all, the thing have to last 7 years.
